Chapter 223: Chapter 223: Compensation
[Host I am back.]
Su Jiyai’s first reaction wasn’t joy. Instead, she rolled her eyes and said calmly,
“Why don’t you return? I don’t need you anyway.”
The system was taken aback by Su Jiyai’s response. It was silent for a while before asking.
[Host…why are you cranky?]
Su Jiyai continued with a smile,
“Cranky? Maybe you will behave like me too when you are on the verge of death and your system vanishes suddenly.
Do you remember the number of times you have left me to die? You are careless, don’t tell me proper details, and guess what you even try to suppress my intelligence for your own benefit.
How can I bring myself to like you?”
The system was speechless before reminding me.
[Host, I never took responsibility for your life. Even during the bonding process, I never promised to protect you. So you can’t blame me.]
Su Jiyai had to admit, the system had a point. But she wasn’t in the mood to let it off so easily.
“Fair enough,” she muttered internally. “But disappearing at the worst possible times isn’t exactly winning you any points.”
The system’s voice remained silent, probably calculating the best response to save face.
[Host I can give you some compensation.]
“Oh?” Now Su Jiyai was interested. “What is it?”
[I can help you to deal with the general.]
“The general? No need. We have already made a plan.” Su Jiyai said with a smile.
[What is the plan host?]
Su Jiyai smirked,
“Don’t change the subject. Tell me about my compensation first.”
The system was at a loss for Su Jiyai’s smartness.
[Um…that…how about a high-ranking potion?]
“No. I want high-ranking poison.” Su Jiyai stated.
[That…]
“Can’t give me? Then roll back.” There was a hint of ruthlessness flashing in her eyes. She was truly not in the mood to hear the system’s quibbling.
[Host, please don’t be angry. Do you want high-ranking poison? Okay I will buy it for you. But host I can only buy those which aren’t too harmful.]
A idea appeared in Su Jiyai’s mind and she asked Jake some questions before agreeing to the system’s condition.
“Okay.”

[Host you are truly a fairy.]
Su Jiyai rolled her eyes, she wasn’t going to fall for this bastard’s flattering and asked,
“How is the base?”
[It is operating well host. You have accumulated an income of 100 million in the past 2 weeks.]
Su Jiyai nodded with satisfaction and continued,
“What about my spies? Did they collect any useful information?”
[They did host. They have reported about the military’s recent moves. The military is investing all of its assets in growing vegetables. Yet they didn’t gain any substantial achievement in the field. The second news they reported was Dong Shin is planning to take action against you, however, due to the sudden wave of zombies, he could only put the plan on hold.]
Su Jiyai raised an eyebrow.
‘Well, that was expected.’
But this time she wasn’t going to wait for Dong Shin to attack her. Once she deals with the general and confirms her theory she will deal with Dong Shin too.
He is too much of an eyesore.
“Anything else.”
[There is more trivial news about different bases, I have complied it in a document. You can read it.]
Su Jiyai felt the system was finally starting to make sense and do some work.
[Host do you want to teleport back to the base?]
If it was a week ago Su Jiyai would have agreed eagerly but now…she was gambling. If she wasn’t wrong then… things would take a turn for the best.
So for a week Su Jiyai used the system to gain more information, perfected her plan, and ate delicious food.
At the same time, she got to know of a crucial information which further confirmed her suspicion.
Jake, oblivious to her internal conversation, raised an eyebrow. “You spaced out again,” he said, shifting Su Jiyai in his arms so that she could sit more comfortably.
Su Jiyai’s eyes flickered, pulling her back to the present.
Instead, she leaned into her usual dry humor, a tactic she had grown fond of when deflecting uncomfortable conversations.
“You think I’m spaced out now? Wait until I start lecturing you about the fundamentals of feline etiquette.”
Jake smirked but said nothing more. He didn’t need to push her for answers.
They had an unspoken understanding—one of convenience more than trust—but it worked for now.
“This general is truly tenacious,” Jake muttered. Su Jiyai nodded. Indeed.
The general was too powerful, they might not have defeated him if not for high-ranking poison.
Yes. Everything was planned.
Su Jiyai led the general to a corner and made him reach to certain position so that when he activated the barrier around him, it would definitely cover the area under his feet too where the small poison bottle would be placed, the poison would slowly seep through the barrier, undetected by the general.
Especially when the general doesn’t know that the energy potion he drank has contradictory properties to the poison.
The contradiction would cause the general to lose his powers eventually.
Su Jiyai was waiting for the moment when the general would realize that something was amiss and he would be helpless.
The general’s body trembled, and he felt a cold sweat running down his back.
The energy that had once surged through him like an unstoppable force was now leaking away, replaced by a numbing emptiness.
He clenched his fists, trying to channel his strength, but even his fingers felt weak and unresponsive.
Panic set in.
‘What the hell is happening to me?’ he thought furiously. His mind raced, scanning through possibilities.
Had someone tampered with his energy potion? But how? He had been so careful.
The blue cat, that strange, infuriating creature—was it behind this? And Jake.
There was always something off about Jake.
The general cursed silently, grinding his teeth. He had no proof, but his instincts screamed that both were involved in this.
