Chapter 229: Chapter 229: Injection
Xi Ping’s head throbbed as she sat hunched in the dimly lit room, the week of torment she had endured weighing heavily on her body.
Wei Long had taken every opportunity to make her suffer—late meals that were barely enough to keep her alive, frequent slaps when she dared to speak, and taunts meant to crush her spirit.
She played the role of a broken captive perfectly, masking her fury behind a veil of submission.
But something was wrong.
For days, she had tried to summon her powers in secret, only to find that neither her teleportation nor super speed would respond.
Worse, her super strength—the hidden trump card she had relied on as her ace—was also suppressed.
The realization had shaken her, but she knew better than to let Wei Long see her panic.
Whatever was affecting her abilities had to be linked to the base, though she couldn’t yet piece together how.
Today, however, something has changed.
Wei Long swaggered into the room with an air of triumph, his smirk wider than usual.
Xi Ping stayed slumped against the wall, pretending to be as weak as he believed her to be.
“Well, little sister,” Wei Long sneered, brandishing a syringe filled with an ominous, glowing liquid.
“Today marks the end of my suffering. Finally, I’ll be rid of you.”
Xi Ping’s heart raced.
“What… what is that?” she demanded, her voice trembling with a mix of genuine fear and calculated performance.
Wei Long didn’t answer.
Instead, he moved closer, roughly grabbing her arm.
She struggled weakly, her mind racing as she tried to figure out what the liquid might be.
“Stop struggling,” Wei Long barked, his grip tightening.
“You should be grateful. Once this takes effect, you’ll be even more compliant for the vice president. It’s a gift, really.”
Xi Ping’s blood ran cold, but she used the adrenaline surging through her to act.
As the needle pierced her skin and a portion of the liquid was injected into her bloodstream, her rage boiled over.
Her hand snapped forward, landing a solid punch directly on Wei Long’s face.
The force sent him sprawling backward, clutching his nose as blood gushed between his fingers.
Wei Long howled in pain, his eyes wide with disbelief.
“You—! How—!?”
“You talk too much,” Xi Ping spat, yanking the syringe out of her arm.
The burning sensation of the liquid coursing through her veins made her wince, but she ignored it.

Acting swiftly, she straddled Wei Long and pinned his arms down.
He struggled, but his bulky frame and lack of combat skills made him no match for Xi Ping, even in her weakened state.
“You wanted me to take the full dose?” Xi Ping sneered, flipping the syringe in her hand. “How thoughtful. Let me return the favor.”
“No! Don’t—” Wei Long’s protests were cut short as Xi Ping jabbed the needle into his neck, injecting the remaining liquid.
He let out a strangled gasp, his body convulsing before going limp. As his consciousness faded, he mumbled,
“I didn’t… know you could fight… should’ve used… the other potion… first…”
Xi Ping leaned close, her voice a cold whisper.
“Regret it later. Or don’t. I don’t care.”
She stood, her legs shaky but steady enough to carry her to the door.
The room had no windows, and no easy escape route, but Xi Ping had always known about the secret exit.
Her foster parents thought themselves clever, ensuring she was locked in what they believed was a secure prison.
But they didn’t know Xi Ping had discovered the hidden tunnel beneath the floorboards months ago.
She had avoided using it this past week, fearing someone might catch her mid-escape, but with Wei Long unconscious, the timing was perfect.
As she knelt to pry open the hatch, voices from outside the room caught her attention.
She paused, pressing her ear to the door.
“You should be giving us more for this!” her foster father’s voice argued, his tone oily with false confidence.
“We’re handing over a girl who’s not only capable but beautiful. The vice president will be very pleased.”
A scoff came from one of the vice president’s men.
“Capable? She’s nothing special. Just another rough woman from this dump of a base. She’s only slightly pretty, and you’re lucky the vice president even agreed to this deal.”
Xi Ping’s blood boiled as the man continued, his tone dripping with disdain.
“Honestly, if you keep demanding more benefits, we’ll call off the deal. There are plenty of girls who’d be happy to join him willingly. Consider yourselves lucky you’re getting anything at all.”
Her foster mother’s voice immediately shifted to one of saccharine humility.
“Oh, no, no, of course not! We’re so grateful for this opportunity. It’s just… we’re struggling so much here. We thought… well if it’s not too much trouble…”
“Trouble?” the man snapped.
“You’d better watch yourselves. The vice president doesn’t like greedy people. Just take what you’re given and shut up.”
Xi Ping’s fists clenched, her hatred for her foster parents reaching new heights.
They were bartering her life away for petty gains, groveling to men who saw her as nothing more than an object.
However, she didn’t forget to make her foster parent’s life f*cked. She took out a pen and started to write a letter.
Within 5 minutes she wrote a long but emotional letter.
She placed the letter on the top of Wei Long who was still unconscious and her heart was filled with hatred. She quickly searched for a sharp object in the room and found a spoon.
Without hesitation, she lunged it into her foster brother’s pants and destroyed the family jewel.
Maybe the potion was indeed strong because even after such a painful attack, Wei Long didn’t wake up.
“Keeping sleeping, my dear foster brother. Because the day I gain power I will destroy all of you. Goodbye.”
Carefully, she removed the loose floorboards, revealing the narrow tunnel beneath.
