Chapter 245: Chapter 245: White Crystal

The next day.

Su Jiyai finished her workout and opened the book Jake had given her. He had written down all the cultivation methods in a detailed manner, making it easier for Su Jiyai to try.

The first was Blood Swipe.

According to Jake’s notes, it involved focusing her energy on her fingertips, forming sharp, blade-like extensions of blood.

Su Jiyai followed the instructions, focusing hard on the blood in her body, willing it to coalesce in her hands.

Nothing happened.

She furrowed her brow and tried again. And again.

Each time, the result was the same: no blood, no swipe.

Just a tingle in her fingers that quickly faded. After several more failed attempts, she let out a frustrated sigh.

Perhaps this ability wasn’t suited to her in her current form.

Switching gears, she decided to try another attack, Blood Wall, which required her to solidify her blood into a defensive barrier.

But once again, her efforts yielded nothing.

Su Jiyai slumped back in her chair, frustration creeping in. She stared at her blue paws, now curled into fists. It hit her then.

Maybe she couldn’t perform these vampire techniques because of her current cat form.

This realization left her feeling slightly defeated, but also relieved. At least she understood what was wrong.

“System,” Su Jiyai called out in her mind, pushing away her earlier frustration. “What’s the status of the seeds I planted near the Steel Wasp Queen’s nest?”

The system’s reply was instantaneous,

[Host, the seeds have not germinated.]

Su Jiyai’s brow furrowed.

She knew growing plants would be difficult however, even when she was provided with the best quality hybrid seed, no plants sprouted.

It is as if the soil has lost all the nutrients.

Su Jiyai’s heart tightened.

Humanity survived the apocalypse due to the ration the country possessed and as the number of people declined, the food reservoirs of the country that could last 5 years, later 20 years.

But that was the limit.

20 years have passed and food production still hasn’t been restored. If this continues, all the bases will eventually run out of food.

Once they run out of food, the citizens will die. If the citizen dies, then her base won’t be able to upgrade to level 5.

If that happens then she can never put an end to an apocalypse or tell Qin Feng about her true identity.

Su Jiyai took deep breaths to suppress the rising anxiety.

She needs to think of a way to make other citizens survive till they know about her base.

Su Jiyai came up with an idea, but she knew that execution would take a lot of time.

Suddenly the system’s voice sounded in Su Jiyai’s ears,

[Host you don’t need to worry about population. The missions are designed in such a manner that you can reach level 5 with ease.]

“Not with a killer system by my side.” Su Jiyai muttered. However, she was reassured to a certain extent.

[Host, would you like to check on the plants?]

“Not now,” she muttered, rubbing her temples.

She made a mental note to check on the seeds herself later and see if she could adjust to the environment.

“What about Huo Ning? How’s her progress?”

[You will need to summon Huo Ning to evaluate her current state of growth.] The system responded.

Su Jiyai mulled this over for a moment. “Alright.”

It didn’t take long before Huo Ning arrived. She stepped into the room with a conflicted expression.

The moment Huo Ning entered, Su Jiyai mentally asked the system to assess her progress.

Before the system could reply, Huo Ning spoke up, her voice eager. “Boss Su, I have news to report.”

Su Jiyai’s ears perked up.

“What is it?”

Huo Ning’s eyes sparkled as she said,

“I think I have awakened a superpower.”

Su Jiyai was overjoyed.

“Oh? Congratulations. See I told you, no one is useless. Even you have awakened a superpower.”

Huo Ning thought, how just 2 months ago she was despondent. With a grateful smile on her face, she stood up and bowed,

“Thank you so much, Boss Su. If it weren’t for you, I might have remained a useless person, till the end.”

Su Jiyai smiled, “It’s alright. By the way, what is the superpower that you have awakened?”

Huo Ning blinked, before replying in an uncertain manner, “That…I don’t know.”

The smile on Su Jiyai’s face faded, “U…what?”

With a sheepish grin on her face, Huo Ning explained, “I can feel the presence of a superpower but I can’t use it.”

Su Jiyai sat in silence, processing Huo Ning’s uncertain revelation.

She wasn’t sure whether to be frustrated or amused by the situation.

Huo Ning had awakened a superpower but didn’t even know what it was.

This wasn’t uncommon during the early stages of power awakening, but it was inconvenient.

After a moment of thought, Su Jiyai turned to the system.

“Is there a way to figure out exactly what superpower she has?”

The system responded immediately, its voice neutral.

[Host, you can purchase a white crystal from the system store. It will reveal a person’s superpower when they place their hand on it. The crystal will display a color corresponding to the power.]

Su Jiyai raised an eyebrow. “A white crystal? How much?”

[It costs 1 million points.]

Su Jiyai felt a pang of frustration. One million points for something as simple as revealing a superpower? She gritted her teeth.

“Fine,” she muttered under her breath, reluctantly purchasing the white crystal from the system store.

The day she had the chance to loot the system, she won’t hesitate!

In a flash, the white crystal materialized before her, floating in mid-air.

“Teleport it to where Huo Ning is.” Su Jiyai ordered.

Huo Ning suddenly saw a round white crystal appear in front of her.

“Here,” Su Jiyai’s voice sounded, “Place your hand on this. It will reveal your superpower.”

Huo Ning placed her trembling hands on the white crystal.
