Chapter 257: Chapter 257: Hope Base

As soon as Pei Meng left Su Yun’s room, he glanced around cautiously to ensure no one was watching.

Satisfied that Su Yun hadn’t followed him, he headed straight for the reception desk where Yuan Xin stood reviewing tenant records.

Pei Meng approached quietly and said in a low voice,

“Yuan Xin, I’ve gathered all the information Boss Su requested.”

Yuan Xin didn’t look up immediately but pressed a button on the console in front of him.

A faint chime sounded, and after a moment, he nodded and gestured for Pei Meng to follow.

“Come with me,” Yuan Xin said curtly, leading him down a narrow corridor to a secure conference room.

When they reached the door, Yuan Xin opened it and motioned for Pei Meng to enter.

“Go inside. Boss Su will speak to you shortly.”

Pei Meng stepped in without hesitation.

The room was plain, with a single long table and a few chairs.

On the far wall, a speaker system was embedded above a monitor that remained blank. He wasn’t surprised by the emptiness; Boss Su was known for maintaining her anonymity, even with trusted subordinates.

Pei Meng stood in the center of the room, bowing slightly toward the speaker.

“Boss Su, it’s Pei Meng. I’ve completed the task you assigned me.”

A moment of silence passed before Boss Su’s voice, crackled through the speaker. “Proceed.”

Pei Meng straightened, his voice steady.

“I’ve looked into Su Yun’s family, as you asked. Her father, Su Jin, holds a good position as a base accountant at Black Ray Base.

He’s well-regarded there. Su Yun’s younger sister, Su Rong, is married to a high-ranking official at the same base.

As for her younger brother, Su Han, he was forced into military service due to his age—only eleven—but his peers and superiors treated him politely because of his potential and connections.

She didn’t mention her ex-husband much and only said that he divorced her and her family turned against her.”

Boss Su’s voice remained calm, but there was a subtle edge to it. “And how are they living?”

“Quite well,” Pei Meng replied.

“They’re comfortable, secure, and respected in their roles. From what I’ve learned, they’ve all but forgotten Su Yun. But…” He hesitated briefly.

“Su Yun intends to invite them here soon. She’s eager to bring them back into her life.”

There was another long silence. Then Boss Su spoke again, her tone deliberate. “You’ve done well, Pei Meng.”

Pei Meng beamed with pride. “Thank you, Boss Su. I’m always ready to serve.”

Boss Su continued, her voice cold and calculated.

“From now on, stick close to Su Yun. Ensure she doesn’t attempt to seduce anyone else in this base.

Make it impossible for her to manipulate others the way she has in the past. Do this quietly. I don’t want her suspecting anything.”

Pei Meng nodded eagerly, despite knowing Boss Su couldn’t see him.

“Understood. I’ll make sure she stays in line. She won’t be able to fool anyone else.”

Boss Su’s voice softened slightly, though the underlying authority remained.

“You’ve proven loyal, Pei Meng. Don’t disappoint me. She abused my name to gain favor, and that won’t go unaddressed.”

Pei Meng’s resolve deepened, his chest puffing with determination.

“I won’t let you down, Boss Su. I’ll help you get the justice you deserve. Su Yun will pay for what she’s done.”

“Good,” Boss Su replied, her tone signaling the end of the conversation. “You’re dismissed.”

2 days later.

Su Jiyai stared at the two messages she got from Crystal Cove.

The first one was a threat. A pure threat.

While the other one was a…meeting request, though it seemed more like a threat.

Instead of replying to any of them, she turned to the system and asked,

“System is the recruiting process completed?”

[Yes host.]

“Good. Ask them to assemble in the conference room.” She ordered.

She had asked Yuan Xin to find talented individuals across the base and recruit them.

Most of the talents in the base signed up to make a good relationship with Boss Su. None of them cared for salary. However, all of them were moved by the free accommodation offer.

With Yuan Xin’s help, Su Jiyai built an army of 50 people. It was difficult to assemble all 50 people in the conference room, so Su Jiyai asked Yuan Xin to divide the 50 people into 5 groups with a captain.

When she saw the faces of 5 team leaders Su Jiyai was surprised.

The first one was Ning Wei. He had thunder element and he was also Su Jiyai’s first tenant.

The second one was Fei Bao, he had a fire element and his physical strength was good too. He was a retired military officer and was an honest man.

Third was Nan Wurong. He had a space element. He was a dumb fool who loved Mu Qin, who had tried to seduce her.

Su Jiyai was a bit suspicious of Yuan Xin’s choice at this time.

However compared to the previous time when he always had a silly grin on his face, now he had a stern expression, even his height had increased…

Hearing Boss Su’s words, the 5 people were a bit surprised.

“Boss Su, have you renamed the base’s name to Hope Base?”

“Yes.” Su Jiyai said. “From now on you will be the army of Hope base.”
