Chapter 264: Chapter 264: Secret Deal
Su Jiyai scoffed, leaning forward once again.
“You misunderstand, Mr. Dong. I don’t scratch the backs of people who overestimate their worth.” Her voice was sharp now, the amusement gone. “Your condition is ridiculous. I refuse.”
Dong Shin’s expression stiffened, but he quickly recovered, his eyes narrowing.
“Come now, Boss Su. I’m offering you more than just land. I’m offering you a strategic alliance with the military. No more hurdles or middlemen. You’ll have a direct line to the top.”
Su Jiyai chuckled softly, though there was no warmth in it.
“You think I’m desperate enough to make deals with someone like you?” Her gaze turned icy.
“Do you really believe that my entire plan hinges on your cooperation?”
Dong Shin’s jaw clenched, but he maintained his smile, trying to salvage his proposal.
“It’s not desperation, it’s smart business. You’ve seen how difficult negotiations with the military can be. One wrong move and—”
“I don’t need your help,” Su Jiyai interrupted, her voice cold and decisive.
“I know exactly what you’re trying to do, and I’m not interested in playing your little game.”
Dong Shin blinked, clearly surprised by her boldness.
“And what exactly do you think I’m trying to do?” he asked, feigning innocence.
Su Jiyai’s eyes glittered with a sharp, knowing gleam.
“You think if I meet you, you’ll be able to manipulate me in person. By agreeing to this one condition, I’ll be tied to you in future negotiations. It’s a power play, plain and simple.”
Dong Shin’s smirk slowly returned, but it was more cautious now.
“You’re perceptive, Boss Su. I can’t deny that. But don’t you think it would be in your best interest to have someone like me on your side? You’ll face a lot more resistance from the military if you refuse.”
Su Jiyai leaned back, folding her arms across her chest as she gazed at Dong Shin with something akin to pity.
“You overestimate yourself,” she said slowly, her voice almost gentle but dripping with condescension.
“Do you really think I need you to navigate military negotiations? I’ve been doing just fine without you.”
Dong Shin’s smile faded completely now. He was silent for a moment, his mind racing for another angle.
Then, a new idea formed, and his eyes gleamed with renewed determination. “Very well, Boss Su.
If you won’t meet me, then how about this?” He leaned forward, his tone lowering as though offering a secret deal.
“Give me a house in your base. A nice one. In return, I’ll not only help you now, but I’ll ensure your future dealings with the military are as smooth as possible. No more resistance, no more complications. Just seamless transactions.”
Su Jiyai stared at him, her lips curling into a smile that didn’t reach her eyes.
For a moment, the room was silent, and Dong Shin held his breath, waiting for her response.
He thought he had finally found a request she couldn’t refuse.
But then Su Jiyai laughed, a low, chilling sound that made Dong Shin’s confidence falter.
“You really are something, Dong Shin,” she said, shaking her head.

“A house? Do you think that’s enough to buy my favor? You think I’m so desperate for peace with the military that I’d hand over valuable resources to someone like you?”
Dong Shin’s face darkened, his frustration evident.
“It’s a fair exchange, Boss Su. I’m offering you—”
“You’re offering me nothing of value,” Su Jiyai cut him off, her voice cold and sharp.
“You seem to forget that I hold the cards here. I don’t need your help, Dong Shin. I don’t need your protection or your so-called influence. I’ve already secured my position.”
Dong Shin glared at her, his fists clenched. “You’re making a mistake, Boss Su. Without my help, the military will—”
“The military will accept my offer because they need what I have,” Su Jiyai interrupted, her tone final. “And if they don’t, I’ll find other ways to get what I want. You’re not as important as you think you are, Dong Shin.”
Dong Shin was visibly seething now, his face red with anger.
But Su Jiyai remained unmoved, her expression calm and composed. “You’ve overplayed your hand,” she said softly.
“Now, if you want to keep your place in this negotiation, I suggest you change your approach. Because if you continue to act like you’re indispensable, I’ll make sure you’re removed from the equation entirely.”
Dong Shin stood in the empty conference room, his rage simmering beneath the surface.
Su Jiyai had rejected him outright, and worse, she had humiliated him in the process. But as he left the room, a dark thought took hold.
She would regret this. One way or another, he would make sure of it.
Su Jiyai on the other hand a dark expression. Dong Shin was a danger to her progress and this danger needs to be eliminated…completely.
“System.”
[Yes host?]
“Did the three spies collect enough information?” Su Jiyai asked calmly.
[From all the information they have sent till now, the evidence is still not enough.]
Just then Liu Feng returned to the conference room with good news. With a smile on his face, he said,
“Boss Su, chairman agreed. You have to give 1 kg of cotton per square meter.”
In reality, Liu Feng had to haggle with Chairman Wang on Su Jiyai’s behalf. He was truly grateful for Su Jiyai’s help previously.
If not for Su Jiyai, the military by now would have collapsed.
Su Jiyai’s eyes narrowed and she asked the system to replay the conversation of Liu Feng and Chairman Wang to herself.
She wanted to know the actual content of their conversation and when she heard how hard Liu Feng had pleaded on her behalf, her eyes lit up.
Liu Feng was a perfect candidate for becoming the next head of the military.
From the interaction with the military in the past few days, Su Jiyai realized that they were a bunch of ungrateful people.
Except for Liu Feng.
