Su Jiyai read through the list of new options with satisfaction. The upgrade had given her base several new features that would not only attract more tenants but also improve the quality of life for everyone.

It can also help her to return her loan.

Ah…life was truly good.

That night Su Jiyai announced the message of lockdown and exited her underground room.

Using a system panel, she first built more than 30 buildings and ensured each of them had more than 20 floors.

Then she built a double room bed bedroom and gym.

To access the gym, the tenants will have to pay a subscription fee. Though Su Jiyai didn’t have much hope for the gym business, she still decorated it.

Soon she started building recreational areas and Clothes clothes-washing area.

After installing the washing machine, she set the price to 1 zombie crystal for using the washing machines in the clothes washing area one time.

After decorating the double room in the 30 buildings, it was almost dawn.

Su Jiyai was so tired that she wanted to lay on the ground right away.

Who said being a landlord was easy? It was tedious work!

Returning to her underground room, Su Jiyai slept for the next 9 hours.

Pei Meng kept a close watch on Su Yun after his talk with Boss Su.

Every time Su Yun tried to put her plans into action, he found a way to mess them up without making it too obvious.

During one of the base market days.

Su Yun went to the base market, looking for someone new to charm.

She wore her prettiest dress and even added a flower to her hair. She smiled sweetly at a young man selling tools.

“Hello,” she said, leaning on the counter. “You must work so hard every day. I admire that in a man.”

The seller blushed, scratching the back of his neck. “Oh, it’s nothing, really…”

Just as Su Yun was about to continue, Pei Meng appeared behind her, grinning like he was her best friend.

“Su Yun! There you are!” he said loudly, clapping her shoulder.

Su Yun nearly jumped. “P-Pei Meng?!”

Pei Meng ignored her startled look and turned to the tool seller.

“Hey, thanks for fixing my hammer last time. Su Yun and I are just here to browse today. Right, sweetheart?” He gave her a playful nudge.

The seller’s smile faded a bit. “Oh, you’re… together?”

Pei Meng nodded cheerfully. “Of course! We’re engaged.” He flashed a big, innocent grin.

Su Yun clenched her fists behind her back, wanting to scream.

The seller quickly lost interest, mumbling something about needing to work, and walked away.

A few days later, Su Yun decided to target a group of men chatting in the dining hall.

They were joking loudly, clearly enjoying themselves. Su Yun sauntered over with her tray of food and sat at a table nearby, hoping to catch their attention.

As she giggled at one of their jokes, Pei Meng suddenly walked into the room. He spotted her immediately and, with his usual enthusiasm, strode over.

“Su Yun! I saved a seat for you over there!” he said, pointing to a table in the corner.

Su Yun’s smile froze. “I’m fine here, Pei Meng,” she said through gritted teeth.

But Pei Meng didn’t take the hint. He waved to the men at the table. “Hi there! Just letting you know, this lovely lady is my fiancée. Isn’t she the best?”

The men exchanged awkward glances and quickly found excuses to leave.

Su Yun slammed her tray onto the table once they were gone. “Pei Meng! Stop ruining everything!”

Pei Meng looked genuinely confused. “What do you mean? I’m just making sure no one bothers you.”

A few days later, Su Yun was back in the courtyard, trying to make herself look vulnerable to catch someone’s attention.

She was sitting near a bench, playing with her hair and pretending to be deep in thought.

This time, she noticed Li Chen, the shy man who had once given her a bracelet, walking by.

“Li Chen!” she called softly, her voice sweet and innocent. “Would you mind keeping me company? I feel so lonely lately.”

Li Chen hesitated, glancing around nervously.

He looked like he was about to approach when Pei Meng appeared again, this time standing directly between them.

“Su Yun, we need to talk,” Pei Meng said, cutting off her chance to speak to Li Chen. He didn’t even let her respond before turning toward her.

Su Yun clenched her fists. “Not again,” she thought angrily. Pei Meng had blocked her every chance.

Later that day, Su Yun was once again in her room, looking at herself in the cracked mirror. “I need a new plan,” she whispered to herself.

She knew she had to be clever to get past Pei Meng and his interference.

But no matter what she tried, Pei Meng was always there, showing up at just the right moment to stop her.

He started showing up in the halls when she was talking to tenants, casually leaning against the walls and saying things like,

“Are you free, Su Yun? Let’s have dinner together!”

Su Yun was so angry that she almost cried. She even started to suspect that Pei Meng knew of her plan and hence he constantly clung to her.

She shook her head. What was she thinking? If Pei Meng knew about her intention why would he still be with her?

So the most logical answer was…Pei Meng was a clingy person.

Su Yun was frustrated but she knew she had no other choice.

All this was seen by Su Jiyai and she couldn’t help but feel overjoyed.
