Chapter 269: Chapter 269: Reaction
The next day, the tenants of Hope Base woke up to an unexpected announcement.
Su Jiyai had declared a lockdown the previous night, but no one knew why.
Most tenants had assumed it was for security reasons, as Hope Base was already one of the safest places around.
But when the lockdown was lifted in the morning, and everyone saw what Su Jiyai had done overnight, the entire base was buzzing with excitement.
People hurried out of their rooms, curious about the changes.
The once calm and quiet base was now filled with chatter, footsteps, and a growing sense of curiosity.
Word spread quickly about new buildings, new facilities, and upgrades that had been installed all over the base.
“Did you hear? There’s a new gym now!” one tenant exclaimed to her friend as they hurried to check it out.
“A gym? Who needs that when we have a recreational area? Finally, a place to relax!” her friend replied, smiling.
Meanwhile, a small crowd had already gathered in front of the newly built buildings.
There were over 30 of them, towering with more than 20 floors each.
Tenants stared in awe at the shiny new structures. Some whispered to each other, still in disbelief that such a massive transformation had taken place overnight.
“Can you believe it? We went to sleep, and this is what we woke up to!” one tenant muttered, shaking his head.
“Boss Su must have worked all night. She’s amazing!” another tenant added, nodding in agreement.
The excitement grew even more when people discovered the new double rooms with living rooms.
These rooms were a big upgrade from the single rooms most of the tenants were used to.
The double rooms had more space, and the living room allowed tenants to relax and feel like they were truly at home.
Some even had balconies where they could step out and enjoy a rare moment of fresh air.
“It’s so nice!” a woman exclaimed as she entered her new room, her eyes wide with disbelief. “I can’t believe I get to live here!”
“Look at the view!” another tenant shouted from the balcony. “You can see the entire base from up here!”
Others were thrilled about the new washing area.
Su Jiyai had installed washing machines that tenants could use, a luxury no other base offered.
Before, everyone had to wash their clothes by hand, but now they could simply toss their dirty laundry into a machine.
Some were a bit hesitant about the price—one zombie crystal per wash—but soon enough, they realized it was worth it.
“Finally! No more scrubbing clothes by hand!” a man said, grinning as he loaded his dirty clothes into the machine.
“Yeah, it’s a bit pricey, but it’s worth every crystal. I’d rather pay than go back to washing clothes the old way,” his friend agreed.
In contrast, the recreational area became an instant hit.
Tenants had been waiting for a place to relax and unwind, and now they finally had one.
It was a communal space filled with comfortable seating, board games, and even a few books.

Some tenants immediately took to the recreational area, grateful for the chance to take a break from the harsh realities of survival.
“It’s nice to just sit down and play a game with friends,” one tenant said, smiling as he placed a board game on a table.
“I didn’t realize how much I missed this kind of thing.”
“Yeah, life’s been so tough lately,” his friend added. “It’s great to have something normal like this again.”
As the day went on, the base continued to buzz with energy.
Tenants explored the new buildings, tested the new facilities, and marveled at how much their lives had improved in such a short time.
Hope Base had already been the best place to live, but now it was on a whole new level.
The 24/7 electricity, the weapon shop, the honey shop, and the cheap food had already made life easier for everyone, but these new additions were like the icing on the cake.
By midday, the buzz in the base had shifted to the gym area.
At first, people thought it wouldn’t be that popular, but as more tenants discovered it, word spread like wildfire.
The gym wasn’t just a small room with a few weights—it was fully equipped, with machines for every kind of exercise.
There were treadmills, weights, punching bags, and even a section for combat training.
When a group of tenants entered the gym for the first time, their jaws dropped.
“Whoa… I didn’t think it would be this nice!” one man said, eyes wide as he looked around.
“I know, right?” his friend agreed, already walking over to one of the machines. “This equipment looks top-notch!”
A small crowd had gathered, watching as the first few tenants started to try out the machines.
One guy, who seemed pretty strong, was already lifting weights, grunting with effort.
The sound of metal clinking as he lifted made others feel motivated.
“I didn’t even think we needed a gym,” a woman said to her friend as they stood by the treadmills, “but now that I see it… I kinda want to work out!”
A small group of teenagers had gathered near the combat training area, watching one tenant practice his moves. He was fast and skilled, his punches and kicks precise.
“Maybe we could train here too,” one of the teens whispered to his friend, his eyes gleaming with excitement.
“Yeah! I want to be strong like that guy!” his friend replied, clenching his fists in excitement.
The atmosphere was positive and encouraging, and soon more and more people were signing up for gym subscriptions.
The initial hesitation about paying the subscription fee quickly vanished as tenants realized how much the gym had to offer.
“Boss Su is truly amazing!”
“Indeed, she does so much for us…I kind of wish there was something we could do for her.” A middle-aged woman muttered with a sigh.
