Chapter 273: Chapter 273: Can’t Track
Yuan Xin and Huo Ning didn’t need to be told twice.
They eagerly took their seats, eyeing the plates in front of them like it was the best meal they’d seen in years.
Yuan Xin took a bite first, and his eyes widened in shock.
“This is… delicious!” he exclaimed, his voice muffled as he stuffed another bite into his mouth.
Huo Ning was nodding in agreement, her plate already halfway empty.
“How did you manage to cook something so good, Boss Su? This is amazing!”
Su Jiyai laughed, shaking her head. “It’s just some basic stir-fry. But I’m glad you like it.”
Yuan Xin wiped his mouth, looking genuinely grateful.
“Honestly, in this world, fresh food like this is such a rare treat. We haven’t had a meal this good in ages. Thank you, Su Jiyai.”
Huo Ning smiled brightly, adding, “Yeah, thanks a lot. This was a real treat.”
Su Jiyai waved them off, feeling a bit shy from their praise. “It’s no big deal. Just eat up.”
After the meal, Yuan Xin and Huo Ning left. However, they were touched. Boss Su made food for them…it was a deal for them!
Their perspective of Boss Su shifted from a boss to a family.
At night, Su Jiyai sneaked into Black Ray’s base. The extreme heat made Su Jiyai realize how grave the situation has turned in just a few days.
However for now she was concerned about Qin Feng. Just like the other night, Qin Feng wasn’t there.
Su Jiyai was now becoming worried. “System where is he?”
[Host I can’t track him.]
………….
On the other side.
Two men were running as if their living depended on it.
“F*ck you, Cui. I told you to stop taking dirty missions, but you didn’t listen! Now see! We don’t know which great Buddha we have offended causing us to be chased by these fire-resistant zombies.” One of the men said.
Xiao Cui gritted his teeth and said,
“Gao Michen how the f*ck can you be sure that behind this arrangement is the people we have offended before? Maybe we are just unlucky!”
Gao Michen gritted his teeth as they ran through the wasteland, their breaths coming out in ragged gasps.
“Cui, we were kidnapped from Black Ray’s base and thrown in the middle of nowhere! Not even our mobile phones work! What more proof do you need that this is some setup?” he snapped.
Xiao Cui rolled his eyes, trying to keep up with Gao Michen’s pace. “Maybe it’s one of your victims. You know, the one you r***d?”
Gao Michen’s face turned red with anger, and he quickly shot back,
“Don’t blame me! You were there too! And if anything, it’s probably your fault we’re in this mess!”
Xiao Cui scoffed, but before he could retort, the sound of growls and shuffling footsteps grew louder behind them.

The fire-resistant zombies were catching up.
The two men glanced back, their faces pale with fear.
They had no weapons, no escape plan—nothing.
“We’re screwed,” Gao Michen muttered, feeling a chill run down his spine despite the intense heat around them.
Just as the zombies were about to close in, something strange happened.
The air shimmered, and suddenly, both men found themselves teleported to a completely different location.
Gao Michen blinked in confusion. “What the…?”
Xiao Cui was equally stunned.
They were no longer surrounded by zombies, but instead, they were standing in front of a cloaked figure.
The figure’s body was charred, its skin blackened and cracked, as if it had been burned alive. Even its face was unrecognizable.
The charred figure stared at them with an eerie smile. “Did you enjoy the chase?” it asked, its voice raspy and cold.
Gao Michen and Xiao Cui felt a shiver run down their spines.
They immediately realized this was the person responsible for everything. Without a second thought, they both dropped to their knees.
“Please forgive us!” Xiao Cui cried out, his voice trembling.
“We’re sorry! We didn’t mean any harm!” Gao Michen added, desperately bowing his head.
The charred figure chuckled darkly. “Oh? And what exactly are you apologizing for? What crime have you committed?”
Both men went silent, unsure how to answer. They glanced at each other, panic rising in their eyes.
Their silence angered the figure.
With a wave of its hand, telekinetic force slammed into them, causing them to scream in pain as their bodies were twisted and bent unnaturally.
When the figure finally released them, they lay on the ground, groaning in agony.
“Do you remember now?” the charred figure asked, its tone sharp. “What vile deed did you commit two years ago?”
Xiao Cui and Gao Michen racked their brains, trying to think.
The problem was, they had done so many terrible things over the years that it was hard to pick just one.
Gao Michen swallowed hard.
“W-We… we stole supplies from the poor… and, uh, we… we killed a few people.”
Xiao Cui quickly added,
“Yeah, we also blackmailed those traders! And, uh, we burned down that settlement last year!”
They both started listing every terrible thing they had done, hoping one of their confessions would appease the figure.
“We’re really sorry!” Gao Michen cried, tears streaming down his face.
“We’ll never do it again!” Xiao Cui added, his voice shaking.
The charred figure listened silently for a moment, before letting out a dark, humorless laugh.
“Tsk…tsk…you both have committed so many vile deeds that you don’t even remember them anymore. But don’t worry. I will help you both to remember it.”
With that, the charred figure started to levitate them in the air and harshly plunge them onto the ground.
“Willow Base,” the charred figure repeated, its voice low and filled with malice.
“You used your power to lure a woman out of the safety zone. Xiao Cui created an illusion, and you, Gao Michen, used your zombie-attracting ability to send the zombies after her. Because of you both, she lost her life…”
