Chapter 274: Chapter 274: Revenge
Gao Michen gasped, struggling to breathe as the telekinetic force squeezed him.
He remembered that afternoon, the sickening grin on his face when the woman screamed, running for her life.
That beautiful woman with blue hair and pale skin…
“I-I didn’t want to! It was just… just a job!” Gao Michen cried, his voice shaky. “We were paid to—”
“Paid?” the figure interrupted, its voice rising with fury. “Paid to murder? Paid to play with human lives?”
Xiao Cui whimpered, trying to wiggle out of the invisible grip. “We were just following orders!” he yelled. “It wasn’t personal! We didn’t know her—”
“Didn’t know her?” The figure’s charred face twisted into a sinister smile.
“Does that make it better? Does that make her life less valuable because you didn’t know her?”
The air around them seemed to grow even hotter as if the charred figure’s anger was heating the very atmosphere.
Suddenly, with a sharp motion of its hand, the figure flung both men onto the ground again, harder than before.
The impact sent shocks of pain through their bodies, and they coughed, gasping for air.
“You took her life!” the figure hissed. “You made her suffer.”
Gao Michen’s heart pounded in his chest. He remembered it all too well now. The look of horror on the woman’s face, the thrill he felt from watching her fear. But now, in front of this monstrous figure, that thrill was gone. Only guilt and terror remained.
“I’m sorry!” Gao Michen shouted, his voice cracking. “We were wrong! Please! Please don’t kill us!”
Xiao Cui, tears streaming down his face, nodded frantically. “We’ll do anything! Just let us go!”
The charred figure tilted its head, almost as if considering their pleas. Then it let out a chilling laugh.
“Let you go?” it asked softly. “Oh no. You still have much to pay for.”
The figure waved its hand again, and the men were lifted off the ground, their bodies twisting painfully in the air.
“You didn’t just kill that woman,” the figure said coldly. “You have a long list of sins. And I will make sure you feel every bit of the pain you caused others.”
Xiao Cui and Gao Michen screamed in agony as the charred figure’s power tightened around them, bending their limbs at unnatural angles, and pushing their bodies to the brink of breaking.
“We’re sorry!” Xiao Cui cried, sobbing.
“We’ll make it right! We’ll do anything you want!”
The figure’s voice was emotionless as it responded,
“You cannot make it right. But you will suffer, just like the people you tormented.”
Xiao Cui and Gao Michen blinked as they found themselves back in the wasteland
Xiao Cui and Gao Michen barely had a moment to process what had happened before they were suddenly thrown back to their original location.
The fire-resistant zombies were still there, creeping closer, their glowing eyes locked onto the two men.
Their groans filled the air as they shuffled forward, hungry for flesh.
“W-We’re back?” Gao Michen stammered, his voice shaking with fear. He turned to Xiao Cui, who was equally terrified, his face pale with dread.

Xiao Cui gulped, trying to stand, but his legs felt weak. “W-What do we do? We don’t have any weapons! We can’t fight them off!”
Gao Michen looked around desperately, hoping for a way out, but there was none.
The first zombie lunged at them, its charred body crackling with heat.
Gao Michen screamed, trying to scramble away, but the zombie’s hand latched onto his ankle, its grip like iron.
“Get it off me!” Gao Michen yelled, kicking frantically.
But the zombie was too strong. Its burning flesh sizzled against his skin as it pulled itself closer, its jaws opening wide, ready to bite.
Xiao Cui tried to help, grabbing a nearby rock and smashing it against the zombie’s head.
But it was no use. More zombies were closing in from all sides, their growls growing louder.
Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through Gao Michen’s leg.
He looked down in horror to see the zombie sinking its teeth into his flesh.
He screamed, the agony unbearable as the fire-resistant zombie’s bite burned hotter than anything he’d ever felt before.
Xiao Cui backed away, his face pale with shock.
“No… no, this can’t be happening!” he whispered, his voice trembling.
But it was too late.
As the zombie bit deeper, Gao Michen felt something strange.
The pain, once searing, started to fade, replaced by a cold numbness.
His vision blurred, and a strange heaviness settled in his limbs.
He looked at Xiao Cui, his mouth moving, but no words came out.
Then, everything went dark.
Xiao Cui watched in horror as Gao Michen’s body convulsed, his skin turning ashen, his eyes clouding over.
Moments later, Gao Michen was no longer Gao Michen.
His body jerked up, now one of the zombies, his eyes glowing with the same eerie light as the rest.
“N-No!” Xiao Cui gasped, stumbling backward.
He wanted to run, but his legs wouldn’t move. His mind raced, but there was nowhere to go, nowhere to hide.
Before he could think any further, a zombie lunged at him, sinking its teeth into his arm.
Xiao Cui screamed, the pain ripping through him.
He tried to fight it off, but the numbness was already spreading through his body.
He looked down at the bite, watching in terror as his skin turned grey and lifeless.
His heart pounded in his chest as the coldness took over, and just like Gao Michen, his vision blurred.
His last thought was of the charred figure’s words:
“You will suffer, just like the people you tormented.”
And then, Xiao Cui too fell silent, his body twisting and convulsing as he transformed into one of the very zombies they had once mocked and tortured.
The wasteland was now eerily quiet, except for the low growls of the fire-resistant zombies, including two new ones—Gao Michen and Xiao Cui—now part of the horde, forever cursed to roam the wasteland, driven by hunger, and stripped of their humanity.
