Chapter 275: Chapter 275: Ge Chunli
Qin Feng calmly watched the entire scene and chuckled, “In the next life, be more obedient.”
Just then George’s voice sounded, “Boss.”
Qin Feng turned to him with a calm expression and asked, “What?”
“We have laid the trap, but we still don’t know about Li Yuan’s whereabouts.”
Qin Feng’s eyes narrowed slightly at George’s words, but his calm demeanor remained unchanged.
He stood up from his vantage point, brushing off the dust that had settled on his clothes.
“Li Yuan, huh?” Qin Feng muttered, his gaze drifting toward the horizon where the blazing sun was beginning to set. “She’s always been slippery, but we’ll find her. For now, let’s focus on other prey.”
……………………..
Su Jiyai sighed and could only return back to her base. Since it was night time, she started to build more buildings.
In a blink of an eye, 5 hours passed. Having finished her work, Su Jiyai returned to her underground room and slept.
When she woke up, she received a prompt from system,
[Host, Yuan Xi wants to meet you.]
“Hm? Wait. Let me take a shower.” She yawned.
Su Jiyai finished her shower quickly, her mind already processing what Yuan Xi wanted. As she dried her hair, she spoke to the system,
“Send Yuan Xi into the conference room. I’ll meet him there.”
The system responded, [Yes, Host.]
In a few minutes, Su Jiyai sat on the chair, her voice calm and steady as she said,
“Yuan Xi, you can speak now.”
Yuan Xi’s voice echoed through the room, though he couldn’t see her.
“Boss, the base leader of Rover Base has requested to meet you.”
Su Jiyai raised an eyebrow in surprise.
“Rover Base? That’s one of the major bases in the nation. Did they say why they wanted to meet?”
Yuan Xi paused for a moment before responding. “No, they only said they want to discuss something important.”
Su Jiyai frowned slightly, her fingers tapping on the table as she thought. Rover Base’s leader wouldn’t reach out without a serious reason. But what could it be?
After a moment of consideration, Su Jiyai finally said, “Alright. I’ll meet him. Set it up.”
Yuan Xi nodded on the other side of the screen, though he couldn’t see her. “Understood, Boss. I’ll bring him in.”
Ten minutes later, the doors to the conference room opened, and Yuan Xi walked in with a tall man beside him.
The man had a strong, honest look, but what immediately caught Su Jiyai’s attention were the burns covering much of his body. His face, though scarred, remained firm and determined.
Su Jiyai’s eyes widened in recognition. “Ge Chunli…” she murmured under her breath.
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
She had met him before when she was still serving in the military.
During a particularly intense mission, her squad was caught in an unexpected firefight with rogue enemies.
Chaos erupted, and Su Jiyai found herself separated from her team, wounded, and disoriented.
She had tried to stay calm, but her injuries were making it hard to move.
Just as despair started creeping in, she heard heavy footsteps approaching. Su Jiyai, too weak to react, braced herself for the worst, thinking her enemies had found her.
But it wasn’t an enemy. It was Ge Chunli, he was on the way to discuss a deal with the leader of Willow base, and when he saw her, he helped her.
The distance from their location to the base wasn’t big. But Su Jiyai was truly grateful for Ge Chunli’s help at that time.
Later she forgot about the incident, but she remembered the kind of person Ge Chunli was.
Though his body was scarred and weathered, the strength in his eyes remained the same.
Ge Chunli bowed slightly in respect. “Hello, Boss Su.”
Su Jiyai straightened up in her chair and offered a calm smile.
“It’s good to see you again, Ge Chunli. Please, have a seat.”
Ge Chunli bowed slightly in respect before sitting down.
Despite the firm look in his eyes, Su Jiyai could tell he was tired. His journey here must have been exhausting, especially with the condition of his body.
She turned to Yuan Xi and said, “Yuan Xi, bring some snacks for our guests.”
Yuan Xi nodded and quickly left the room.
Meanwhile, Ge Chunli seemed a little hesitant, as if he was unsure how to start the conversation.
When Yuan Xi returned with a tray of snacks and placed it on the table, Su Jiyai said,
“Please, help yourself. It must’ve been a long journey.”
Ge Chunli gave a small nod of thanks, but he didn’t touch the food.
Instead, he took a deep breath and got straight to the point.
“Boss Su,” he began, his voice steady but with an underlying urgency.
“I’ve come to ask for your help. Rover Base is in trouble, and we can’t handle it alone anymore.”
Su Jiyai leaned forward slightly, her expression serious now. “What kind of trouble are you talking about?”
Ge Chunli’s face darkened.
“Our base has been slowly deteriorating. The extreme heat has become unbearable, and it’s only getting worse.
Our food supplies are running dangerously low, and we can’t grow anything anymore because the crops just die in the heat.”
“That’s troubling enough,” Su Jiyai said, “but it can’t be the only problem, right?”
Ge Chunli nodded grimly.
“You’re right. The worst part is the new type of zombies we’ve been facing. They’re fire-resistant, and their heat is making life unbearable for the people in my base.
These fire-resistant zombies don’t just attack—they bring intense heat with them. It’s like fighting an inferno. Our defenses aren’t strong enough to keep them at bay for long.”
Ge Chunli said, his voice heavy.
“We’ve never seen anything like them before. They seem to thrive in the heat, and the regular weapons we have don’t work as well against them.
Our people are suffering. We’re running out of food, out of supplies, and if the zombies keep attacking, I’m afraid Rover Base won’t last much longer.”
