Chapter 276: Chapter 276: Conquer
Su Jiyai sat back in her chair, thinking carefully.
She hadn’t expected such a dire situation from a base as well-known as Rover Base.
It was one of the larger bases in the nation, and for them to be struggling this much, the situation must be worse than she thought.
Ge Chunli looked at the speaker, his eyes filled with determination.
“I don’t know who you are exactly, Boss Su,” he admitted.
“But I’ve heard about Hope Base, and how it’s one of the few places that’s still stable. You have resources, and you have strength. That’s why I came to ask for your help.”
Su Jiyai didn’t respond right away.
She could see the desperation in Ge Chunli’s face, and she understood how hard it must have been for him to come here and ask for assistance.
“Ge Chunli,” she said after a moment of silence, “you’re asking for a lot. I understand the seriousness of your situation, but helping Rover Base will require a significant effort on my part.”
“I know,” Ge Chunli replied quickly.
“I wouldn’t have come here if I had any other choice. But I’m willing to negotiate. We can offer you resources in return, or manpower, whatever it takes.”
Su Jiyai shakes her head and says,
“No. I don’t want manpower. I have enough. How about this I will conquer your base.”
Ge Chunli’s face instantly turned red with anger. He slammed his fist on the table and stood up.
“Conquer my base? No way! Rover Base is my home! I’ve spent years protecting it. You can’t just come in and take over everything!” His voice was full of rage, and his body shook with frustration.
Su Jiyai remained calm, her expression steady and unbothered by his outburst.
“Calm down, Ge Chunli,” she said, her tone cool but firm. “I didn’t mean it the way you’re thinking.”
Ge Chunli hesitated, his fists still clenched, but after a moment, he slowly sat back down. His eyes were still filled with anger, but he listened.
Su Jiyai continued, her voice patient.
“I know Rover Base means a lot to you. I’m not asking you to give up your position or your people. What I’m offering is a partnership.
You stay as the base leader, but I’ll provide everything your base needs to survive.”
Ge Chunli looked at her, confused.
“What do you mean? How can you help without taking control?”
Su Jiyai leaned forward, her eyes focused on his.
“If you agree to let me ‘conquer’ your base, it just means I’ll have authority over how the base is managed, but you’ll still be the leader.
It’s more like sharing control. I’ll provide resources, build new facilities, and upgrade your defenses. In return, your base will follow the same system as Hope Base.”
Ge Chunli frowned, still unsure. “What exactly are you offering?”
Su Jiyai smiled slightly.
“First, I’ll build a supermarket just like the one we have here at Hope Base. Your people won’t have to worry about food anymore.
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
We have more than enough to share, and the market will be fully stocked with everything your base needs.”
Ge Chunli’s eyes widened in surprise. “A supermarket?”
Su Jiyai nodded. “Yes. And that’s not all. I’ll open up other shops too, like clothing stores, weapon shops, etc.”
Ge Chunli couldn’t believe what he was hearing. It sounded too good to be true.
“But how will we protect all of that? We can’t even handle the heat and the zombies.”
Su Jiyai’s smile grew.
“I’m glad you asked. I’ll build a protective wall around your base—one that’s infused with electricity.
It’ll shock any zombies that try to break in. And I’ll make sure the wall is strong enough to resist any fire-resistant zombies.”
Ge Chunli looked shocked.
“A wall that can stop fire-resistant zombies?”
“Yes,” Su Jiyai confirmed.
“It’ll be made of metal and infused with a special blue energy that keeps the temperature inside the base cool.
And that’s not all—I’ll install temperature regulators throughout your base, so the extreme heat won’t affect your people anymore. You’ll have a comfortable environment, no matter how bad the weather gets outside.”
Ge Chunli stared at her, speechless.
This was more than he ever imagined.
“But what about electricity? We’ve been having constant power outages.”
Su Jiyai nodded.
“I’ll provide 24/7 electricity. Your base will never run out of power again. Everything will run smoothly, and your people will have a better quality of life.”
Ge Chunli was quiet for a moment, processing everything she was offering.
It sounded like a dream—a way to save his base and help his people. But he was still hesitant.
“What’s the catch?” he asked warily. “This can’t all be for free.”
Su Jiyai shook her head.
“There’s no catch. Everyone will have to pay for whatever they purchase.Like I said, I just want your base to follow the same system as Hope Base.
You’ll be a part of our alliance, but you’ll still be in charge of Rover Base.I’m not here to take away your leadership. I just want to make sure your people can survive and thrive.”
Ge Chunli looked down at his hands, deep in thought.
He had worked so hard to protect Rover Base, and it was falling apart in front of his eyes. Su Jiyai was offering him a chance to save it, and to keep his position as leader.
Finally, he looked up at her and said, “If I agree, you promise my people will be safe? And I’ll still be the leader?”
Su Jiyai nodded firmly. “Yes. I’ll make sure your people are safe, and you will remain the leader. But you have to trust me, Ge Chunli. This is the best option for your base.”
Ge Chunli sighed and closed his eyes for a moment, weighing the decision in his mind. When he opened them again, he nodded slowly.
“Alright,” he said quietly. “I agree. You can ‘conquer’ Rover Base.”
Su Jiyai smiled. “Good. You won’t regret it, Ge Chunli.”
