Su Jiyai teleported to the Black Ray base again. Just like the previous nights, she didn’t meet Qin Feng at all.

“Where are you…” Su Jiyai muttered in a small voice and returned to her base.

Just when she left, Qin Feng returned to his room. He sat in his usual spot and held Su Jiyai’s photo, in a soft voice he said,

“Jiyai, very soon, all those who harmed you will suffer. Once I take the revenge on your behalf I will return to your side.”

“Just a little longer,” he whispered to the photo as if Su Jiyai could hear him through the distance. “I won’t let anyone stand in our way.”

His thoughts drifted back to the day everything had fallen apart, the day Su Jiyai was betrayed, and he swore he would never forgive those responsible.

The guilt of not being there for her, of not protecting her when she needed him most, haunted him every night.

But now, he had power, influence, and the means to make them pay.

Meanwhile, Su Jiyai returned to her base, feeling the familiar emptiness that settled in her chest after every trip to Black Ray base.

She had been searching for Qin Feng for days, hoping to see him, talk to him, and understand what he was up to.

But every time she arrived, he was nowhere to be found.

“Qin Feng… why are you avoiding me?” she whispered as she stood in her dimly lit room.

Her system beeped, breaking the silence.

[Host, what if he is insecure and doesn’t want to face you.]

“Insecure? He doesn’t even know I am the boss of Hope base.” Su Jiyai rolled her eyes, not believing the system’s words.

[Host, I am talking about when you are in your cat form. Maybe he asked for half a year’s worth of time, just so he could fix his looks, now that time is up and he still hasn’t fixed up his charred body, he is hiding.]

Su Jiyai couldn’t help but laugh softly at the system’s words, her voice carrying a hint of amusement.

“You think Qin Feng is hiding because of his appearance?” She shook her head. “That’s ridiculous. He never cared about things like that.”

Su Jiyai sighed, her smile fading.

She had to admit that the system had a point.

“System how much gold do I have?” Su Jiyai asked as she started to pack her bag.

“No.” Su Jiyai hurriedly disagreed.

The system’s mechanical voice had a mocking tone as if it were daring Su Jiyai to acknowledge her financial shortcomings.

Su Jiyai stopped packing for a second, her eyebrows twitching. She could feel the system’s smugness oozing through its monotone voice, which only made it more irritating.

“Excuse me?” Su Jiyai snapped, glaring at nothing in particular since the system didn’t have a physical form. “You think you’re so clever because you keep track of my finances? I’d love to see you survive a day in my shoes.”

Su Jiyai rolled her eyes.

“Debt? Please. I call it strategic investment.”

“By the way, how is Rui Wang now?” Su Jiyai asked. Only with Rui Wang’s help can she open a dimension where she will get all the herbs to cure Qin Feng’s charred skin.

[Host her delivery is nearing. She might deliver the baby in two or three days.]

Su Jiyai paused. A theory that she had earlier forgotten appeared in her mind.

God! How can she forget about it?

Su Jiyai was silent before saying, “System remind me in the morning that I have to do a meeting with Fu Lin.”

Fu Lin nodded, pressing a gentle kiss on her forehead. “Alright.”

Once he agreed, Su Jiyai connected to the speaker of his room and said in a grim voice,

“Mr. Fu, please send Mrs. Fu to my side for her delivery.”
