Chapter 281: Chapter 281: Half-Zombie?
Fu Lin froze for a moment, his eyes widening at Su Jiyai’s words.
“Boss Su, what do you mean by that? Rui Wang will deliver the baby here. I’ve already arranged for a personal healer.”
Su Jiyai’s voice was calm but firm as she replied,
“Mr. Fu, Rui Wang’s delivery is not going to be simple. You may have noticed it yourself. She’s been showing signs that aren’t normal for a regular pregnancy.”
Fu Lin’s heart skipped a beat.
He had indeed noticed that Rui Wang’s energy fluctuations had been off lately.
Her power levels were spiking randomly, something even their healer couldn’t explain.
Su Jiyai continued, “It’s because of the mutation.
The baby she’s carrying isn’t fully human anymore.
There’s a high chance that during the delivery, there will be complications—ones that your healer won’t be able to handle.”
Fu Lin’s blood ran cold. “Mutation…?”
“Yes,” Su Jiyai said, her voice taking on a more urgent tone.
“You don’t have time to second-guess this, Fu Lin. I’m the only one who can help. Bring her to me, or risk losing them both.”
Rui Wang, who had been listening quietly, reached for Fu Lin’s hand, her voice soft but steady.
“Fu, I trust Boss Su. If she says we need her, we should go.”
Fu Lin looked at his wife’s pale face, the determination in her eyes despite her weakened state.
He squeezed her hand tightly, then nodded. “Alright. I’ll bring her to you, Boss Su. But please, save her. Save them both.”
“I will try my best,” Su Jiyai assured him. “Now bring her to the conference room. Time is not on our side.”
As they were about to leave, Rui Wang suddenly winced, clutching her stomach.
“It’s starting,” she whispered, her face contorting in pain.
Fu Lin’s heart pounded.
“We need to move, now!” He lifted her gently, his body tense with worry, and rushed to the conference room.
Su Jiyai watched Fu Lin rush out of the room, carrying Rui Wang in his arms.
As she started preparing the room for the delivery, Su Jiyai suddenly paused.
An idea came to her mind, and she quickly called out to her system.
“System,” she began, “is there any way to increase a human’s IQ? Or maybe a pill that can enhance their brain, like those bone marrow pills?”
The system’s familiar mechanical voice responded after a moment.
[Host, why are you asking this? Are you planning to enhance someone’s intelligence?]
Su Jiyai frowned.

“Not exactly. I’m worried about Rui Wang’s baby. There’s a chance it might be half-zombie, right?
If that’s the case, its brain development could be… complicated. Zombies don’t think like humans. If the baby has some zombie traits, it might affect how it grows and learns.”
The system was silent for a moment before answering.
[Host how can you be so sure?]
“Does it matter?” Su Jiyai snapped.
[Host, I just want to ensure that you don’t commit a mistake.] The system’s voice was tinged with a hint of grievance.
Su Jiyai sighed and said,
“It was because of what Rui Wang had said earlier. About how her brother injected something in her. If I am not wrong, it should be a diluted version.
Maybe her brother knew about Rui Wang being pregnant and he wanted to completely annihilate her, or maybe he just hate Rui Wang so much that he wanted to see her suffer.”
[Host how can be so sure?]
Su Jiyai gritted her teeth.
“I once heard the researchers of Willow Land talk about how the diluted blood of zombies can cause mutations.
It doesn’t turn the person into a full zombie right away, but it messes with their body and makes them… unstable. Rui Wang’s condition sounds a lot like that.”
The system was quiet for a moment, processing what she said.
Then, it responded,
[That’s a dangerous theory, Host. If what you say is true, the baby might already have zombie traits. Its development could be unpredictable.]
Su Jiyai nodded, her face serious.
“Exactly. That’s why I need a way to boost its intelligence, to give it a better chance. If the baby is half-zombie, I don’t want it to grow up like a mindless monster. There must be something we can do.”
The system replied,
[There are pills that can enhance brain functions, but they’re rare and expensive. Even if you give the baby one, it might not completely get rid of the zombie traits. The pills can only help balance the human and zombie parts, but it won’t make the baby fully human.]
Su Jiyai sighed, rubbing her temples. “I know it won’t be perfect, but it’s better than doing nothing. If the baby has any chance of surviving, I have to try.”
[The pills are available for purchase, Host, but they cost a lot of points.]
“How much?” Su Jiyai asked.
[100 million points.]
“Buy!” Su Jiyai almost cried. “I’ll deal with the cost later. Right now, the baby’s life is more important.”
[As you wish, Host. The pills will arrive shortly.]
With that decision made, Su Jiyai took a deep breath and refocused on the task at hand.
There wasn’t much time before the baby arrived, and she needed to be prepared.
She had no idea how the delivery would go, but she had to be ready for anything.
“System,” Su Jiyai asked, “what are the chances that the baby will be dangerous? If it has zombie traits, could it turn violent?”
[It’s hard to say, Host,] the system responded.
[If the baby’s zombie traits are dominant, it could be aggressive or unstable. However, if the human traits are stronger, the baby might grow up like a normal child with some unusual abilities. You’ll need to monitor it closely.]
Su Jiyai nodded.
She had expected that answer, but hearing it still made her feel uneasy.
The thought of a half-zombie child was terrifying, but she couldn’t let that fear control her decisions.
Rui Wang’s baby deserved a chance at life, just like anyone else.
