Chapter 283: Chapter 283: Birth
Su Jiyai nodded, her expression serious.
She knew Jake was right.
They didn’t have much time.
She reached for another bone marrow pill, but this time, she hesitated. Giving Rui Wang too many pills too quickly might have unintended consequences.
However, Su Jiyai didn’t have time to think for long.
Rui Wang suddenly groaned, clutching her stomach, her body tensing as the pain intensified. Su Jiyai’s eyes widened, realizing what was happening.
“She’s going into labor,” Jake said, his voice urgent. “It’s happening now!”
Rui Wang’s breathing grew rapid, and her entire body shook as the contractions hit her hard.
“Rui Wang, you need to stay calm,” Su Jiyai said, her voice firm but gentle. “The baby is coming. You can do this.”
Rui Wang nodded weakly, her face drenched in sweat. “It… it hurts so much…” she gasped, her eyes fluttering in pain.
“I know,” Su Jiyai said, trying to keep her voice calm even though the energy in the room was growing more unstable by the second.
“But you have to stay strong. The baby’s almost here.”
Jake was by her side in an instant, his hands glowing with healing energy.
“Push, Rui Wang!” Su Jiyai ordered, her voice stronger now. “You’re almost there!”
Rui Wang groaned again, her body straining with the effort. She squeezed her eyes shut, her face twisting in pain, but she kept pushing.
Jake’s hands glowed brighter, channeling more healing energy into her to keep her from collapsing.
After what felt like an eternity, Rui Wang let out one last cry, and suddenly, the room was filled with a sharp, high-pitched wail.
The baby had been born.
Su Jiyai quickly moved forward, catching the newborn in her arms.
The tiny infant was covered in blood and fluid, its small body trembling as it took its first breaths.
But as Su Jiyai looked down at the baby, she knew immediately that something was different.
The baby’s skin had a faint grayish tint, and its eyes, though barely open, gleamed with an eerie light.
“He’s… he’s half-zombie,” Su Jiyai whispered, her voice trembling towards the end.
Jake stepped closer, his face tense as he stared at the newborn. “Is he dangerous?” he asked quietly.
Su Jiyai didn’t answer right away. She could feel the baby’s energy, a strange combination of human life and zombie power.
It was as if two opposing forces were battling within the tiny body, struggling for control.
“He’s stable… for now,” Su Jiyai finally said, her voice cautious.
“But I don’t know what this means in the long term. He’s not fully human, but he’s not fully zombie either.”
Rui Wang, weak and exhausted, opened her eyes and looked at her baby.

“Is he… is he okay?” she asked, her voice trembling with fear and hope.
Su Jiyai turned silent. She didn’t know what to say to Rui Wang.
Rui Wang as if knowing the answer, smiled, tears filling her eyes as she reached out to touch her son.
“He’s… beautiful,” she whispered, her voice filled with emotion.
Su Jiyai turned silent and was about to pass the child to Rui Wang when suddenly the baby’s body started to convulse.
Suddenly, the baby’s small body started to shake violently. Su Jiyai’s eyes widened in alarm as she held the newborn tightly, trying to steady him.
“Jake!” Su Jiyai called out, her voice sharp and urgent. “Something’s wrong!”
Jake rushed forward, his hands glowing with healing energy again.
He placed them over the baby, trying to calm the violent tremors.
But the baby’s convulsions only seemed to get worse.
Its tiny arms and legs twitched uncontrollably, and its eerie, glowing eyes flickered open and shut.
“What’s happening to him?” Rui Wang cried weakly from the bed.
Her voice was full of fear as she tried to sit up, desperate to see what was going on.
“Stay still, Rui Wang,” Su Jiyai said, her voice firm but caring. “You’re too weak right now. Let us handle this.”
“It’s the zombie side,” Jake muttered through clenched teeth.
“It’s fighting the human side. His body doesn’t know how to balance the two energies.”
Su Jiyai’s heart raced as she thought quickly.
This was exactly what she had feared—a battle of life and death within the tiny newborn.
If they couldn’t stop the zombie energy from overpowering the human side, the baby might not survive.
…………
A week before.
HQ was sitting on a chair. Right in front of him was a woman in black body-fitting outfit. The woman was kneeling and spoke,
“Jake was last seen in Hope Base.”
“What about that blue cat?”
The woman turned silent.
HQ tapped on the armrest and said lightly,
“I asked something.”
The woman whose face was lowered, coughed and said, “I am so sorry sir, I couldn’t find any trace of that blue cat.”
HQ sat back in his chair, his expression darkening as he listened to the woman’s report.
She had failed to find the blue cat, and this wasn’t the first time he had heard such disappointing news.
“Leave,” he said coldly, his voice void of emotion.
The woman quickly stood up, her body tense.
Without saying another word, she bowed slightly and hurried out of the room, not daring to look back.
HQ watched her leave, his fingers tapping impatiently on the armrest of his chair.
Once the door shut behind her, he leaned forward and pressed a button on his desk, calling for another subordinate.
Moments later, the door opened, and a tall man in a dark uniform entered the room.
He looked calm, but there was a slight nervousness in his eyes as he approached HQ.
“You asked for me, sir?” the man said, bowing his head slightly in respect.
“I did,” HQ said, his voice low but sharp.
“I want to know if you have any updates on the blue cat.”
The man hesitated for a moment, glancing at the floor.
HQ narrowed his eyes, already sensing that the answer wouldn’t be what he wanted to hear.
“I’m afraid there’s been no sign of the blue cat, sir,” the man finally admitted, his voice steady but filled with tension.
