Chapter 285: Chapter 285: Sketch
And only accepted the deals HQ came to make.
HQ stood before the zombie king, his calm voice breaking the silence.
“You’re wondering why I’m here now, after all these years.”
The zombie king slowly nodded, his glowing eyes showing a flicker of understanding.
Though it was a monster, there was still some intelligence left, a connection to its past life.
HQ straightened up and looked directly at the king. “I need your help.”
The king tilted its head, as if waiting for more.
HQ knew that explaining the situation to a zombie king wasn’t going to be easy.
Despite its intelligence, the zombie king still had moments where its brain seemed to falter, stuck in a daze.
“I’m looking for a blue cat,” HQ said, his voice steady.
“She’s destroyed multiple institutes, and she’s hard to track down. But I know you—zombies—have a vast network. You have eyes and ears everywhere, and I need you to use that network to find her.”
The king’s head tilted further as if confused by HQ’s words.
It blinked slowly, its glowing eyes dimming a little, as if it was trying to remember something but couldn’t quite grasp it.
HQ watched as the king’s intelligence seemed to flicker, fading in and out.
Noticing the king’s hesitation, HQ reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a folded piece of paper.
He had anticipated this moment and had come prepared. Carefully, he unfolded the paper, revealing a detailed sketch of the blue cat.
The drawing showed every feature: the sharp blue eyes, the sleek fur, the pointed ears.
HQ stepped closer and held out the sketch in front of the zombie king.
“This is the one I’m looking for,” he said quietly, his eyes locked on the king’s face. “Have you seen her?”
The zombie king stared at the sketch, its pale eyes slowly widening as it took in the image.
There was something in its expression, a strange recognition, though it didn’t speak. Instead, the king’s eyes suddenly turned bloodshot, glowing a deep, angry red.
It let out a guttural roar, shaking the walls of the decaying room.
HQ stepped back, stunned by the sudden outburst.
His heart raced in his chest. The zombie king had never acted this way before. Did it know the cat? Had it seen her?
For a moment, the king thrashed on his throne, its massive skeletal frame shaking violently.
Then, just as quickly as it had started, the king went still again.
It stopped roaring and slumped back into its throne, staring at the sketch with a dazed, almost lost expression.
The blood-red glow in its eyes faded, replaced by the usual faint blue.
HQ waited, his breath catching in his throat.

He had no idea what had just happened, but it was clear that the blue cat meant something to the zombie king. But what? Why had it reacted like that?
The king remained silent, his eyes locked on the sketch.
After a long, tense moment, it extended its arm toward HQ. The movement was slow and deliberate, the bony hand reaching out as if asking for something.
HQ blinked, unsure at first, but then he realized what the king wanted.
It was asking for the sketch. Cautiously, HQ handed over the drawing, placing it gently into the king’s outstretched hand.
The zombie king grasped the sketch, staring at it with a strange intensity. Its pale fingers tightened around the paper, but it didn’t tear it.
Instead, it brought the sketch closer to its face, examining every detail, every line.
For a moment, it seemed as though the king was lost in thought, as if memories were trying to resurface but couldn’t quite make it to the surface.
‘Maybe the blue cat had crossed paths with the zombie king before. Maybe she had been a part of something bigger.’ HQ thought
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the king nodded slowly, as if coming to a decision.
Its eyes flickered back toward HQ, a silent agreement passing between them.
The zombie king understood HQ’s request and, even without words, had given its answer. It would help.
HQ exhaled, relieved.
He had gotten what he came for, though he still didn’t fully understand the zombie king’s strange reaction.
“I’ll leave it to you, then,” HQ said softly. “Find her.”
The zombie king didn’t respond, but its eyes remained fixed on the sketch of the blue cat as if the image held more meaning than HQ could ever know.
…………..
After a week of silence, HQ received a call from the zombie king.
He arrived at the decaying palace once more, the eerie glow of the place as unsettling as ever.
But this time, something felt different.
The moment he stepped inside, the zombie king was already waiting, standing tall, its glowing eyes locked on HQ.
There was no hesitation, no confusion like before.
Without a word, the zombie king gestured for HQ to follow.
It turned and led him deeper into the palace, through dark, crumbling corridors.
HQ, always cautious, followed closely, his eyes scanning the shadows.
He didn’t know what the king had found, but he had a feeling it was important.
They arrived in a large, open room where the ceiling had collapsed long ago, letting in beams of sunlight that created a stark contrast to the decaying walls.
The zombie king stopped in the middle of the room, then slowly pointed toward a large map on a nearby table.
The map was old and faded, but HQ recognized it immediately.
It was a map of the surrounding areas, including the zombie territories and the few remaining human bases.
The zombie king’s bony finger hovered over one particular area: Aurora Base.
HQ stared at the map, following the king’s gesture.
“The blue cat was spotted near Aurora Base?” he asked, piecing the clues together.
The zombie king nodded slowly, its eyes glowing brighter as if urging HQ to believe its findings.
HQ trusted the zombie network.
