Chapter 288: Chapter 288: Stupid
Kane frowned, but before he could respond, Sarak chimed in, his yellow eyes glinting with amusement.
“He’s right, Kane. Stop worrying so much. This is our chance. We’re stronger and faster than humans. We just have to blend in for a little while.”
Torak snorted, “Don’t say anything to him Sarak. He is stupid.”
Kane: “…” Bro you are the stupid one!
Kane still had a shred of memories left with him and knew all the things humans can achieve.
However at the end of the day, he still didn’t have a lot of intelligence left, so he just backed out,
“You both go ahead I will not come.”
Torak turned around, his red eyes narrowing in disbelief.
“What did you say?” he growled, stepping closer to Kane. “You’re chickening out?”
Sarak smirked, crossing his arms.
“Figures. Kane’s always been the cowardly one. Let him run back to his cave while we handle the real work.”
Kane clenched his fists but didn’t respond. He was no coward, but something inside him just didn’t feel right about this.
“You can call me stupid or cowardly all you want,” Kane muttered under his breath, “but I’m not risking my life on something I don’t trust.”
Torak snorted, clearly unimpressed.
“Fine, stay behind. But when we come back with all the power and you’re still stuck out here, don’t cry about it.”
With that, Torak and Sarak turned their backs on Kane and continued moving toward the line of humans, not even sparing him a second glance.
Torak and Sarak made their way to a crumbling nearby building, their sharp eyes scanning the area for something to blend in with.
Inside, they found some old, tattered clothes left behind by humans long ago.
Without much thought, they grabbed the rags and quickly pulled them over their hulking forms.
Torak grumbled as he struggled to fit the tiny human shirt over his massive arms.
“This thing is so tight! Why are human clothes so small?”
Sarak, meanwhile, was having trouble with his pants.
His legs were too long, and he accidentally tore a hole in the back when he tried to pull them up.
He hissed in frustration but decided to just ignore it.
“Whatever, it’ll do.”
Once they were “dressed,” they pulled the rags over their heads to hide their faces and tried to blend in with the humans in line.
The people around them barely noticed, too busy focusing on whatever awaited them at the front of the line.
Torak and Sarak shuffled along, trying their hardest not to bite any humans.
Every now and then, their instincts screamed at them to attack, but they fought the urge, growling softly to themselves.

“Don’t bite… don’t bite… just stay cool…”
Finally, they reached the front of the line.
They watched as the person ahead of them stepped up to the strange machine attached to the glowing blue wall.
The human placed a file in front of the scanner, then leaned in to show their face to another part of the machine.
A blue light scanned the person’s face, and with a soft beep, the human was allowed through.
The metallic wall opened up, and the human walked inside.
Torak and Sarak exchanged confused glances.
“What… what is this thing?” Torak whispered, squinting at the machine. “Why is it shining light at their faces? Should we be worried?”
Sarak shrugged. “I dunno, but it’s our turn now. Just act normal.”
Torak stepped up, pulling his ragged hood tighter over his face.
He looked around nervously, trying to copy what the human before him had done.
He hesitated for a moment, then leaned in to show his face to the scanner.
Immediately, the machine flashed a bright red light.
“Uh… what does that mean?” Torak muttered, but before he could figure it out, his instincts screamed at him.
“MOVE!” he shouted to Sarak, jumping away just as a bullet whizzed past where his head had been a second earlier.
Sarak’s eyes widened in shock. “RUN!”
Both zombie kings bolted from the scanner, their legs moving faster than they’d ever moved before.
The humans in line screamed in panic and ran in the opposite direction, completely terrified of the massive, growling figures.
Torak’s huge feet pounded the ground, and his too-tight clothes ripped as he ran, making him stumble clumsily.
“These stupid human clothes! Why didn’t I just stay with my old stuff?”
Sarak, just as panicked, was having trouble keeping his pants up.
As he sprinted, the ripped pants started to slide down his legs, and he frantically tried to pull them up.
“Why are these pants so useless?!”
Bullets continued to fire at them, hitting the ground where they had just been.
The sound of gunfire echoed through the decayed streets, and Torak and Sarak growled and yelped as they dodged the shots, running in zigzags to avoid being hit.
Torak accidentally tripped over a broken piece of pavement and face-planted into the ground with a loud “THUD.”
He quickly scrambled back up, growling, “Stupid ground!”
Sarak, too busy holding up his pants, nearly crashed into a wall but managed to skid to a stop just in time.
“This is NOT going how I planned!”
They finally managed to duck into a narrow alleyway, breathing heavily as the gunfire stopped.
They pressed themselves against the wall, panting from the chase.
Torak glared at Sarak. “That… was a terrible idea.”
Sarak panted, still clutching his pants. “Yeah, I didn’t expect them to shoot at us! What was that red light thing even for?!”
Torak grumbled, rubbing his sore head. “I don’t know… but we’re not doing that again.”
The two zombie kings looked at each other, their ripped clothes hanging off their bodies in tatters. Despite their fearsome appearance, they looked more like two clumsy kids who had just been caught in a prank gone wrong.
“Well… that was a disaster,” Sarak muttered, adjusting his pants once again.
Torak sighed.
“Lets make a different plan.”
“Should we ask HQ to help us?” Sarak asked with a confused expression.
