Chapter 310: Chapter 310: Clear Name
“This is… quite the revelation,” The elder said thoughtfully, stroking his beard.
“It seems we owe a great debt to Jake, Xi Ping, and the spirit beast. Without them, the Cloud Sky Sect’s plan might have succeeded.”
The silver-haired woman wiped her tears and nodded vigorously.
“Yes! Yes, Elder! I saw it with my own eyes! They were doing everything they could to protect the sect. I was so wrong about them…”
The elder smiled gently.
“It takes great courage to admit when one is wrong. You’ve done well to bring this information to me.”
He rose from his seat and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder.
“I will make sure that Jake, Xi Ping, and the spirit beast are recognized for their bravery. And as for the Cloud Sky Sect… we will prepare a defense to ensure they can never carry out their vile plan.”
The silver-haired woman’s heart swelled with relief.
She had done the right thing, and now the Blue Sky Sect was safe—thanks to her and the misunderstood trio she had once thought were enemies.
…………….
Su Jiyai decided to put all the boxes and keys in her storage ring, as well as the herbs, and broke the news to them,
“I didn’t find the Star Drop Herb.”
Jake translated the words to Xi Ping and frowned, “Now…what should we do? We have to leave, anyhow.”
They couldn’t stay in the Blue Sky Sect, since the story they had told earlier wouldn’t match for sure…
And once the elders of the Blue Sky Sect knew they were lying all along, they would kill all three of them.
Xi Ping pulled out the key she had found earlier, her fingers playing with it. “Maybe this thing can help us somehow,” she said. “I don’t know how, but it’s better than nothing.”
“We can’t trust the key,” Jake said. “We don’t even know what it does.”
“But what if it opens something important? Like a door or a secret escape route?” Su Jiyai suggested, her tail swaying behind her.
Xi Ping nodded, liking the idea. “It’s worth a shot.”
Just then, the sound of footsteps echoed from behind them. They all froze, glancing at each other.
“Hide,” Jake whispered.
The three of them ducked behind some bushes, trying to stay quiet. Su Jiyai’s heart pounded in her chest as they waited.
She could hear the footsteps getting closer.
Finally, the silver-haired woman from earlier came into view.
Her sword was out, and her eyes were sharp, scanning the area. Su Jiyai held her breath, praying the woman wouldn’t see them.
The woman stopped, standing just a few feet away from where they were hiding. She looked around, her eyes narrowing.
“I know you’re out here,” she said, her voice cold. “You can’t hide forever.”
Su Jiyai’s ears twitched nervously, and she clenched her fists. She knew they couldn’t stay hidden for long.
Jake’s eyes met Xi Ping’s, and they both nodded. Without saying a word, the three of them slowly backed away, careful not to make a sound.

Once they were far enough, Jake whispered, “We need to find another way out of here.”
Xi Ping agreed. “Let’s try the forest. It’s risky, but it’s better than waiting around.”
Su Jiyai followed them as they quietly made their way toward the thick trees.
The silver-haired woman was still searching the area, but they managed to slip away without being seen.
As they ran deeper into the forest, Su Jiyai’s mind raced.
They had the boxes, the key, and the herbs, but no Star Drop Herb. And now, the Blue Sky Sect was onto them.
“Sigh…looks like I will have to try again later…” Su Jiyai muttered.
Just then she heard the familiar kind voice,
“Dear spirit beast, why are you running away?”
When Su Jiyai lifted her head, she saw the elder.
Before she could react, Jake and Xi Ping hurriedly protected her behind them.
The elder’s calm voice echoed in the forest, but his presence made all three of them nervous.
“We’re not running away,” Jake said, his voice steady but guarded.
The elder smiled gently, but his eyes were sharp. “There’s no need to hide. I’m not here to hurt you,” he said, stroking his beard. “In fact, I’m here to thank you.”
Su Jiyai’s wolf ears twitched in confusion. “Thank us?” she whispered, peeking from behind Jake and Xi Ping.
The elder nodded.
“Yes, my dear spirit beast. We know about the Cloud Sky Sect’s plan to destroy us. You and your friends have helped us by keeping those boxes and the key safe. We owe you our gratitude.”
“Gratitude?” Jake and Xi Ping were puzzled. Even Su Jiyai was confused.
Xi Ping furrowed her brow, her fingers still gripping the key tightly.
“Gratitude? But… we didn’t do anything special,” she said, not trusting the elder’s words just yet.
The elder smiled, his beard twitching as he nodded.
“Oh, but you did. You protected something very important—those boxes and the key. Without you, the Cloud Sky Sect’s plans might have succeeded.”
Jake exchanged a quick glance with Su Jiyai. “But… we didn’t even know what the key was for,” he said honestly.
The elder’s eyes twinkled. “Sometimes, the most important tasks are completed without even knowing their full purpose.”
Su Jiyai’s ears twitched nervously. She still wasn’t sure if they should trust him.
The elder sensing her distrust was heartbroken. He loved the spirit beast and knowing it didn’t mean to harm them and even helped them, he was filled with righteous indignation to clear their name.
See their accusation and doubt has hurt the beast so much that it doesn’t even dare to trust them!
With a kind smile, he bent down and said softly,
“Spirit Beast don’t worry, I will make sure to clear your name.”
Xi Ping: “…”
Jake: “…” What about us?
As if remembering about them, the elder coughed lightly and said in a stern tone, “Yours both too.”
It was as if he was doing a huge favor.
