Chapter 320: Chapter 320: Business Trip
“Alright,” Ge Chunli said, his voice firm.
“We don’t have much time. The tide is growing larger by the minute. We need to act fast.”
He turned to the group of young people standing near the back.
Many of them were in their late teens or early twenties, the next generation of superpowered individuals who had been trained to defend the base.
“All of you with superpowers,” Ge Chunli said, his eyes sweeping over the young fighters.
“We need your strength. The tide is too large for our normal soldiers to handle alone. If we don’t use everything we’ve got, there won’t be a base left to protect.”
The youths looked at each other, fear and uncertainty flickering across their faces, but one by one, they stepped forward, nodding their heads in grim determination.
They had trained for this moment their whole lives, and now it was time to put that training to the test.
“I’ll fight,” said one boy, barely eighteen, his fists clenched tightly.
“We can’t let them take everything from us.”
The others echoed his sentiment, their fear overshadowed by their will to protect their home and their people.
Ge Chunli gave them a brief nod of approval before turning to his daughter, Ge Lin.
“I need you to help organize the defense. Coordinate with the soldiers and make sure everyone knows what they’re up against. I’m going to contact Boss Su.”
Ge Lin hesitated for a moment, her eyes scanning the distant horde of zombies before she nodded.
“I understand, Father. I’ll make sure everything is ready.”
With that, Ge Chunli turned away from the group and hurried toward his home. Once home, he dialed Su Jiyai’s phone number and once the call was connected he hurriedly said,
“Hello, we agree to the condition.”
Yuan Xin’s slightly surprised voice sounded,
“Hello, can you please introduce yourself before stating what conditions you agree too.”
Ge Chunli’s face turned red and instantly explained,
“I am Ge Chunli, the leader of Rover base, just a few days ago…”
“Oh, it’s Leader Ge? I remember now. I apologize for not saving your phone number before.” Yuan Xin’s slightly apologetic voice sounded from the other side of the phone.
Ge Chunli heaved a sigh of relief. If during such time he has to explain everything, then it would be too much hassle.
Yuan Xin’s voice sounded,
“Great then, I will inform my boss, once she returns from her business trip.”
Ge Chunli’s heart skipped a beat. He clutched the phone tighter, his voice shaking with urgency.
“Business trip? No, no, we don’t have time for that! The zombie tide is here right now! We need help immediately!”
Yuan Xin’s voice remained calm, but Ge Chunli could hear a hint of concern.
“I understand the urgency, Leader Ge, but my boss is currently handling another situation. I can’t reach her at the moment.

I will inform her as soon as she returns, but for now, we can send some reinforcements from our side.”
Ge Chunli groaned inwardly.
Reinforcements would help, but without Boss Su herself, the chances of survival felt slim. Still, it was better than nothing.
“How soon can they arrive?” Ge Chunli asked, pacing back and forth in his small room.
“They’ll be there within a few hours. Just hold on until then,” Yuan Xin said. “We’ll send our best fighters.”
A few hours felt like an eternity. Ge Chunli wanted to scream, but he knew it wouldn’t change anything. He had to focus.
“Thank you,” he said, his voice tight. “Please hurry.”
He ended the call and rushed out of his house, heading back toward the defense wall.
When Ge Chunli returned to the wall, his daughter, Ge Lin, was already organizing the soldiers and superpowered youths.
They were setting up defenses, passing out weapons, and positioning themselves along the wall.
“Father!” Ge Lin called as she saw him approach. “What did Boss Su’s people say?”
Ge Chunli swallowed hard. “Reinforcements are coming, but it’ll take a few hours.”
The news didn’t do much to ease the tension.
“We don’t have a few hours,” one of the younger soldiers muttered, his eyes wide with fear.
“Look at them! They’re already too close!”
“Why is Boss Su not directly taking over?” Another young man asked grumpily.
Ge Chunli’s expression hardened,
“She is on a business trip.”
“Business trip?”
The hearts of the crowd started to sink. In their anxiety, they slowly lost their rational thinking process and started to berate Su Jiyai.
“How can she propose a partnership and then suddenly go on a trip? Can’t she act more professionally?”
“Exactly! The least she could have done was ensure our safety! With her tiny reinforcement group, how can she even help?”
“Maybe she was just toying with us. Or maybe she is angry now and hence sending a small group of reinforcement to mock us.”
Ge Chunli’s face turned dark and he roared,
“Shut up. What are you guys even thinking about? Huh? It was you all who had delayed in giving a response.
By the time you all gave a response, our base was already surrounded by zombies. If we had given a response before, everything might have been a different story but now…
Even if Boss Su was present and agreed on the proposal she would need a few days to completely take over.
Her sending over the reinforcement even though the partnership hasn’t even started officially shows just how much professional she is.”
The crowd fell silent as Ge Chunli’s words hit them like a cold splash of water.
The anger that had been bubbling under the surface quickly faded, replaced by shame and regret.
“You’re right, Leader Ge,” one of the older soldiers mumbled, looking down at his feet.
“We should’ve acted sooner. Complaining now won’t help us.”
Ge Lin stepped forward, her face serious but calm.
“We need to focus on the task at hand. Boss Su’s reinforcements will be here soon, but until then, we have to defend the base with everything we’ve got.”
