Chapter 323: Chapter 323: Alive Or Not?
Su Rong woke up with a jolt, her heart pounding.
She looked around, but everything was still the same—her parents were asleep, and the dark night stretched around them.
She wiped the sweat from her forehead.
That dream was way too real. Su Jiyai? But she’s dead, right?
Su Rong thought, trying to calm herself down. But she knew better. Her dreams never lied.
She had always had this strange ability to see glimpses of the future through her dreams.
Sometimes they were small things, like someone dropping a cup, but other times they were huge, like this. And they always came true.
But why would she be apologizing to Su Jiyai?
That didn’t make any sense. Su Jiyai had been kicked out of their family a long time ago. And everyone knew she was dead.
Or…was she?
Su Rong couldn’t shake the feeling that this dream meant something big was about to happen.
Something dangerous. But how was she supposed to prepare for it? Should she tell her parents? No, they wouldn’t believe her anyway.
Not without her revealing her superpower…
She sighed and looked out at the dark horizon.
They still had a few more days before reaching Hope Base. But now, with this dream hanging over her, she felt more uneasy than ever.
Maybe she could talk to Fu Wei about it.
He was the only one who really understood her powers and didn’t brush them off. He might help her figure out what the dream meant.
The next morning, after everyone had packed up and gotten ready to travel again, Su Rong quietly pulled Fu Wei aside.
“Hey,” she whispered, “I had one of those dreams again.”
Fu Wei’s eyes widened a bit. “What did you see?”
Su Rong glanced around to make sure her parents weren’t listening, then leaned in closer.
“I saw myself… apologizing to Su Jiyai. I was begging for my life.”
Fu Wei frowned. “Su Jiyai? But she’s…”
“I know,” Su Rong interrupted, “I thought she was dead too. But you know what my dreams are. If I saw her, it meant she was still alive somewhere. And I think she’s coming for us.”
Fu Wei was silent for a moment, thinking.
“Do you think she’s at Hope Base?”
Su Rong bit her lip.
“I don’t know. But it feels like she’s connected to all of this somehow. Maybe that’s why Su Yun invited us. Maybe it’s all part of some bigger plan.”
Fu Wei nodded slowly.

“We need to be careful. Keep an eye out for anything suspicious. If Su Jiyai is alive, then we’re walking into something way more dangerous than we thought.”
“Should we cancel the trip?” Su Rong asked in a concerned voice.
“What? No. Even if Su Jiyai is behind this, she should be a big shot at the Hope Base. As long as we please Boss Su of the Hope Base, will Su Jiyai still be a threat to us?” Fu Wei asked.
“Do you think Boss Su is Su Jiyai?” Su Rong asked in a terrified voice.
Fu Wei hesitated for a moment, his brow furrowing deeply as he considered Su Rong’s question.
The idea seemed absurd at first, but the more he thought about it, the more it gnawed at him.
Could Boss Su, the powerful figure behind Hope Base, really be Su Jiyai?
It would explain why she hadn’t been heard from in years, why she seemed to vanish after being cast out by her family.
“I don’t know,” he said finally, his voice low and uncertain. “It’s… unlikely. But not impossible.”
Su Rong’s heart sank at the thought.
If Su Jiyai had survived and risen to power, that would mean everything they believed about her was wrong.
Worse still, it would mean her family might be walking into a trap far more dangerous than they’d anticipated.
Fu Wei suddenly said,
“Wait…if Su Jiyai is Boss Su then…where does she get supplies from? Boss Su has such a large base, and even the food is so cheap… Is Su Jiyai’s superpower related to growing vegetables?”
Su Rong frowned. Now that Fu Wei mentioned the superpower, her anxiety lessened and she visibly relaxed,
“We are maybe overthinking. If Su Jiyai was the Boss Su, she might have killed Su Yun. Su Jiyai didn’t have any superpowers.
Even if she has the superpower of growing vegetables, what about the 24/7 electricity in Hope Base? There was also the land!
The land where Hope Base is established, can’t be accessed by anyone other than Boss Su! And who was Su Jiyai? She was just some orphan!
So the chances of her being Boss Su is very low…”
Fu Wei nodded thoughtfully, though a lingering unease remained in his expression.
Su Rong’s words were reasonable—Su Jiyai had never demonstrated any powers, let alone ones capable of maintaining a thriving base like Hope.
The resources, the infrastructure, the sheer level of control it would require…it seemed beyond what Su Jiyai could have ever achieved, especially considering her past.
But there was still something nagging at him, a puzzle piece that didn’t quite fit.
“You’re right,” Fu Wei agreed after a moment.
“It’s hard to imagine her being capable of all that. But then…if she’s not Boss Su, why did your dream show her alive? And why would you be apologizing to her?”
Su Rong clenched her hands, her mind racing through possibilities.
“Maybe it’s not about Hope Base,” she murmured.
“Maybe…maybe the dream is warning me about something else entirely. If Su Jiyai is still alive, she could be hiding somewhere, waiting for the right moment to reveal herself. Or worse, maybe she’s planning revenge.”
The thought sent a chill down her spine.
Su Jiyai had been kicked out of the family under harsh circumstances, and if she had survived all this time, bitterness could have festered, growing into something dangerous.
If Su Jiyai had somehow gained allies or influence, she could be plotting to settle old scores.
Fu Wei crossed his arms, his gaze distant as he considered her words.
