Chapter 329: Chapter 329: Protective Barrier
Su Jiyai gave a small nod, accepting his agreement.
“Alright then, we can now sign the contract.”
With that Su Jiyai took out a contract and asked Ge Chunli to sign it. Ge Chunli signed and Su Jiyai signed the contract too.
Once everything was done, Su Jiyai asked Ge Chunli to arrange an empty room for her. Inside the room, Su Jiyai opened the expansion map.
She clicked on the start button and heard the system’s voice.
[Do you want to open China’s map?]
“Yes.”
[Loading the map….loading completed.]
Su Jiyai saw the detailed map of China spread out before her.
It was divided into regions, each highlighting the varying levels of zombie infestations, base territories, and resource zones.
Rover Base was a small dot amidst the expanse, located in a relatively isolated area.
She focused on the area surrounding Rover Base and initiated the expansion protocol.
[Do you want to proceed with building the wall around Rover Base?]
“Yes.”
[Please select the expansion perimeter.]
Su Jiyai zoomed in, carefully outlining the land she wanted to claim.
[Perimeter set. Construction will begin in 24 hours. Estimated completion time: 72 hours.]
[Ding! Zombies were found in the perimeter, initiating defense measures…]
[Host would you like to build a 360-degree protection barrier around the Rover Base?]
Su Jiyai agreed.
[It will cost 100 million points.]
Su Jiyai: “…” I knew it! This system just loves to gobble up my points.
[Host would you still like to proceed?]
“Proceed.” Su Jiyai gritted her teeth.
[Alright, host. The 360-degree protective barrier is getting installed…]
[Error! Error! Two many zombies found! Humans detected in the perimeter!]
[Defense mechanism failed…]
[Failed to install 360-degree protective barrier…]
Su Jiyai held her forehead and hurriedly called Ge Chunli,

“Go and ask your citizens to withdraw from the defense wall.”
“Huh? But…what if the zombies rush in?”
“Just do as I say.” Su Jiyai said sternly.
Ge Chunli was momentarily stunned by Su Jiyai’s firm tone but quickly complied.
“I’ll take care of it right away,” he said, his voice tinged with urgency.
He hurried out of the room, leaving Su Jiyai alone with the system’s persistent warnings.
[Host, perimeter compromise detected. The construction process will be delayed unless all intruders, human and zombie, are cleared from the area.]
Su Jiyai frowned, knowing that time was of the essence.
If the zombies breached the base before the 360-degree protective barrier was installed, it could jeopardize everything she had planned. She couldn’t allow Rover Base to fall into chaos.
“How much time will it take to install the 360-degree protective barrier?” Su Jiyai asked.
[30 seconds host.]
“System is there a psychic wall, which can obstruct the zombies from entering the Rover Base for 1 minute?”
[There is host. It cost 50 million points. Would you like to buy?]
“Buy!” Su Jiyai gritted her teeth, “The moment all the citizens retreat, activate it. Also install the 360 degree protective barrier too.”
[Okay host.]
Ge Chunli rushed through the base, weaving between hurried figures, calling out commands to the various squads stationed near the third defense wall.
His expression was strained, though he maintained a façade of calm authority.
“Everyone, retreat immediately! Fall back to the inner gates!” Ge Chunli’s voice rang out, clear and firm despite the chaos.
The citizens and defenders at the third defense wall, however, hesitated.
The psychic users had erected shimmering shields, their brows furrowed in concentration as they repelled waves of zombies.
Artillery users were fiercely manning cannons and machine guns, the thunderous sounds of gunfire filling the air.
Further along, the wall, fire, thunder, and strength-type superhumans unleashed their abilities, while plant-type users summoned tendrils and vines to entangle the undead.
Hearing Ge Chunli’s order, a few of them turned their heads in confusion.
“What do you mean retreat?” a thunder user demanded, lightning crackling in his hands as he threw bolts at the oncoming zombies.
His eyes narrowed with suspicion.
“If we leave now, the zombies will breach the wall! We can’t hold them off if we retreat.”
Similar doubts were echoed by others.
A fire-type superhuman, her hands wreathed in flames, shouted,
“Do you want us to just let the zombies rush in?”
Ge Chunli’s chest tightened. He wasn’t sure how Boss Su planned to protect the base, but his confidence in her was unwavering.
He couldn’t let the defenders see his uncertainty, not now.
“Listen to me!” he yelled, raising his voice above the chaos.
“I know it doesn’t make sense, but this is an order from Boss Su. She has a plan. You need to trust her! If you stay, you’ll only get in the way.”
There was a moment of hesitation.
“What if the zombies break through?” a stubborn artilleryman asked, clutching his rifle tightly. “What then?”
Ge Chunli’s expression hardened, and though his heart raced, his voice was steady.
“We have defenses in place. Trust me. The base will not fall.”
The citizens grumbled, reluctant but swayed by his reassuring words.
Gradually, the defenders began to pull back, though the tension remained thick in the air.
The psychic users lowered their shields, the artillerymen ceased fire, and the element users withdrew their abilities, retreating toward the gates of the base.
They moved swiftly but with clear reluctance, eyes lingering on the approaching horde of zombies, gnashing and screeching as they closed the gap.
As the last of the defenders crossed into the gates, Ge Chunli signaled the all-clear.
In that instant, a strange force seemed to ripple through the air, causing a shudder to run through the very ground beneath their feet.
Suddenly, all of the zombies, which had been advancing with terrifying speed, were halted in their tracks, forced back by an invisible force.
They stumbled, falling into disarray, held at bay a full 100 meters from the base.
Gasps of disbelief rippled through the crowd of citizens, who turned toward the wall.
“What… what just happened?” one of the psychic users whispered, his eyes wide with shock.
