Chapter 338: Chapter 338:Demolish
Su Jiyai smiled beneath her veil, waving her hand gently to quiet the crowd.
“I’m glad that the rooms have brought you comfort. I’m not here to take advantage of anyone. I simply want to make sure that you all have a place to live.”
The citizens nodded, murmuring their thanks again.
After a brief pause, Su Jiyai continued,
“However, I know that not everyone was able to secure a room, and there are still many of you without homes. That’s why I’ve come to you with a proposal.”
The crowd quieted down, curious about what she was going to say.
“I am willing to buy houses from anyone who is willing to sell,” Su Jiyai explained, her tone steady.
“And I will pay double the current market price for them.”
The room fell silent as everyone absorbed her words.
“Double the market price?” one man finally muttered, clearly tempted.
“Yes,” Su Jiyai nodded.
“Once I have enough houses, I plan to tear them down and build new buildings. These buildings will provide more rooms for everyone, and like before, the rent will be affordable.”
The citizens exchanged glances, but no one immediately spoke up.
The idea of selling their homes, especially with the uncertain world outside, made them hesitate.
Su Jiyai sensed their reluctance and continued,
“I understand that it’s not easy to give up your homes. But think about the benefits. You’ll receive a fair price—more than fair, actually.
And once the new buildings are completed, you’ll have the option to rent a modern, comfortable room, just like the ones in the residential building.”
The crowd murmured again, considering her offer.
Some of them were tempted by the idea of earning a large amount of money, while others were more cautious, unsure if they were ready to give up their homes just yet.
Su Jiyai patiently waited, letting them talk amongst themselves.
She knew that some would need time to think, but she was confident that the offer would appeal to many of them.
However, her confidence was shattered when none of the citizens stood up.
The people of the Rover Base were truly smart.
Finally, a woman stepped forward, clearing her throat.
“Boss Su, is there any other way?”
Su Jiyai sighed. Her first plan failed miserably, but she decided to go with plan B.
Just the system’s robotic voice sounded in her mind,
[Host, you can give them an apartment in the building.]
“Is that alright?” Su Jiyai asked with surprise.
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
After all, till now she had the illusion that the system after leaving her, would demolish all the buildings completely.
[Yes host. All the bases acquired using an expansion map will become your property. These properties will never be demolished in the future.]
Su Jiyai’s eyes lit up, and she instantly beamed.
If everything worked out in her favor, and the apocalypse ended, she would remain the rich woman she is now.
“Alright. Thank you for the good news.”
Turning toward the woman who was staring at her with a curious expression, Su Jiyai began,
“There is, I will buy your land or apartment and instead of giving money, I will give you apartments based on the number of people you have in your house.”
The woman blinked in surprise.
“So, if we sell our houses, you’ll give us new apartments for everyone in the family?”
Su Jiyai nodded with a smile.
“Yes. For every person in your household, you’ll get an apartment in one of the new buildings. This way, you won’t have to worry about losing a place to stay.”
The crowd started buzzing again, this time with excitement.
This offer seemed much better.
They could get brand-new apartments without having to worry about finding a place to live.
Some of them even seemed to be counting the number of family members they had, imagining the number of apartments they could get.
A wave of relief swept over the crowd, and more people began to nod in agreement.
“That’s a fair deal,” someone said.
“I like this idea,” another person added.
A man, who seemed to be thinking deeply, spoke up.
“What about those of us with larger families? We could end up with more apartments than we need.”
Su Jiyai smiled, already anticipating the question.
“If you end up with extra apartments, you can rent them out to others or even trade them. You can do whatever you want with them. It’s your property.”
The man grinned. “Sounds like a good plan to me!”
Seeing the positive reactions, Su Jiyai knew she had won them over.
“I’ll have Ge Chunli work with all of you to figure out the details. If you’re interested in the offer, he will help you sign the agreements and make everything official.”
Ge Chunli stepped forward, giving everyone a reassuring smile. “I’ll make sure everything is organized properly. We’ll take care of each family one by one.”
The crowd looked more relaxed now, and some even started lining up to talk to Ge Chunli. Su Jiyai watched them with a satisfied smile. Her plan was finally working.
But just as things were calming down, a young boy, no older than ten, raised his hand and asked,
“What if we don’t want to sell our house? Will we get kicked out?”
The crowd grew quiet again, turning their attention to Su Jiyai. She understood the boy’s concern.
Not everyone might be comfortable with such a big change.
“No,” she said gently.
“You won’t be forced to sell your house. If you’re happy where you are, you can stay. I’m only offering this to those who want to move into the new apartments.”
The boy smiled, and his parents gave a relieved nod.
“Alright, everyone!” Su Jiyai raised her voice slightly so all could hear.
“There’s no rush. Take your time to decide. I’ll be here to help whenever you’re ready.”
Ge Chunli approached her after speaking with a few families.
“It’s going well. I think many will take the offer.”
Su Jiyai nodded.
“Good. We’ll make sure everything runs smoothly. The sooner we start, the better.”
