Chapter 356: Chapter 356: Ou Lin’s Letter
Wei Xin’s face darkened. She tried to keep her composure, but it was clear that she was furious. “Yun’er, you can’t be serious! We’re your parents! How could you turn your back on us?!”
Su Yun smiled sweetly.
“The same way you turned your back on me when I needed you the most.”
Su Han clenched his fists. “You selfish—”
Before he could finish, the young boy who had beaten him up earlier stepped forward again, cracking his knuckles.
Su Han immediately shut his mouth and took a step back in fear.
Su Yun sighed and crossed her arms.
“Honestly, you’re all pathetic. You came here thinking I’d be your golden ticket into the base, but guess what? You’re on your own. If you want a room, get in line like everyone else.”
The Su Family stood frozen, their faces drained of color.
The crowd, meanwhile, laughed and clapped, thrilled by Su Yun’s response.
Su Yun turned on her heel, ready to walk back inside.
“Oh, and one more thing,” she called over her shoulder. “If you cause any more trouble, don’t expect me to help you even if you’re dying outside these walls.”
Su Rong who was silent till now, suddenly said,
“Sister please wait.”
Su Yun turned, raising an eyebrow in surprise as Su Rong, the ever-proud and aloof younger sister, suddenly dropped to her knees. A hushed murmur spread through the crowd. Even the battered members of the Su Family looked on in shock.
“What do you think you’re doing?” Su Yun asked, arms still crossed, her voice laced with skepticism.
Su Rong took a deep breath, her hands clenching into fists as she bowed her head.
“I’m apologizing,” she said softly.
“For everything. For staying silent when you needed us the most. For letting you suffer alone after Ou Lin threw you out. I should have done something. I should have fought for you.”
Su Yun stiffened at the mention of Ou Lin. Her mind flashed back to that humiliating day—standing in the rain, discarded like trash, with nowhere to go. And her so-called family had done nothing. She scoffed, eyes narrowing. “Oh? Now you suddenly regret it? You expect me to believe that after all these years?”
Su Rong’s voice trembled, her eyes glistening with unshed tears.
“At that time… we wanted to help you, but we couldn’t. Ou Lin—he threatened us. He said that if we dared to interfere, he would kill you. Not just ruin you, but actually end your life. And he meant it.”
Su Yun’s breath hitched.
A cold wave of disbelief washed over her.
“What?” She shook her head, stepping back as if physically rejecting the words.
“No. You’re lying. If that were true, why didn’t you tell me before? Why now?”
Su Rong bit her lip as if she had expected this reaction. Without hesitation, she reached into the folds of her tattered coat and pulled out a yellowed envelope. She extended it toward Su Yun, her hands trembling.
“This… this is a letter he wrote. He made us swear to never reach out to you. Read it yourself.”
Su Yun hesitated. Her heart pounded against her ribcage.

Slowly, she took the envelope and unfolded the letter inside.
The moment her eyes scanned the first few lines, she recognized the handwriting. Elegant, precise, and cold—just like Ou Lin.
[Su Family,
If you value your and her pathetic life, stay out of this. That woman is no longer a part of your family. If I find out you so much as gave her a crumb of bread, you will be buried beside her.
I don’t make empty threats.
-Ou Lin]
Su Yun’s grip on the letter tightened. Her nails dug into the fragile paper as her teeth clenched in barely contained fury. That bastard. He hadn’t just thrown her away—he had ensured that she had no one to turn to. He had isolated her completely. She had blamed her family for abandoning her, but they had been trapped in their own fear.
Her throat felt tight.
The mixture of emotions—anger, betrayal, regret—swirled inside her, making it difficult to breathe.
She looked up at Su Rong, who was watching her with reddened eyes.
“After we settled in Black Ray Base,” Su Rong continued, her voice barely above a whisper, “we tried to find you. We really did. But every time we got close, you had already moved. Ten months ago, we went to Crystal Cove, only to find that you had already left for Cedar Base. Five months ago, when we finally reached Cedar Base, you were already gone—on your way to Rover Base. Two months ago, we made it to Rover Base, but you had already moved on to Hope Base.”
Su Yun felt a chill run down her spine. Su Rong had recited the exact timeline of her movements.
She had no way of knowing this unless she had truly been searching for her.
Su Yun had lived in constant movement, never staying too long in one place, always thinking she was alone. And all this time, her family had been chasing her shadow.
A lump formed in her throat.
She didn’t want to believe it.
She didn’t want to forgive. But for the first time in years, doubt crept into the fortress of resentment she had built around herself.
The crowd, which had been murmuring among themselves, fell silent as they watched Su Yun’s expression shift—anger melting into something far more vulnerable.
Su Rong wiped at her tears, forcing a trembling smile.
“I know we don’t deserve your forgiveness. But I wanted you to know… we never stopped looking for you. No matter how much time passed, we never stopped.”
Su Yun stared at her, her emotions waging war inside her. She could feel the weight of the letter in her hand, the proof of a past she had never known.
The silence stretched on, thick and suffocating.
Finally, Su Yun exhaled sharply, shoving the letter into her pocket. She tilted her head, lips pressing into a thin line.
