Chapter 357: Chapter 357: Forms
“I don’t know what to think right now,” she admitted, her voice steady but cold. “I need time.”
Su Rong nodded as if she had expected nothing more. “That’s all I ask.”
With that, Su Yun turned away, walking back toward the base, her mind a tangled mess of thoughts and emotions.
For the first time in years, she wasn’t sure what she felt.
Su Jiyai who was watching the entire scene, had a doubtful expression on her face.
[Host, you don’t believe in the Su Family’s story?]
“I can bet with everything I have now. The story is a complete lie if not a half lie. The Su family is a bunch of snobs.
It’s impossible for them to look for Su Yun until and unless Su Yun holds some value to them. However, the story doesn’t seem to have been made on the spot.
Even if they have brainstormed to make it though, how did they know the exact location and time? From Su Yun’s expression, it was clear that Su Rong’s words were correct. So…the question is how did they know the exact location and time?
Or…is there anything that Su Yun has and is valuable to the Su family? Hm…everything is getting interesting.”
[Host, what should we do now? The Su family will line up now. Do you plan to let them rent a room in the base?]
Su Jiyai smiled brightly,
“Of course. You should keep your friends closer but you should keep your enemies even closer. Not to mention, I would have absolute control over the Su Family’s life, once they enter the base. However…before letting them enter, they should suffer, otherwise they won’t know the importance.”
[Host you mean…]
“Keep on finding mistakes in their document.”
[Sure host.]
After Su Yun left, Su Rong stood up.
Wei Xin rushed to her side and whispered,
“Why did you lie to her? Ou Lin never threatened us. And we never tried to find Su Yun.”
Su Rong’s face remained calm despite her mother’s frantic whisper. She dusted off her knees, straightening her posture with practiced grace before turning her head slightly to address Wei Xin.
“Does it matter?” Su Rong’s voice was barely above a whisper, but the weight of her words pressed heavily upon Wei Xin.
“She believed it, didn’t she?”
Wei Xin’s lips parted as if to argue, but she hesitated.
A conflicted expression flickered across her face before she sighed in exasperation.
“But why go through all that effort? Why not just demand that she help us as her family?”
Su Rong let out a soft chuckle, though there was no humor in her eyes.
“And what would that achieve? Su Yun isn’t the same woman we abandoned all those years ago.
She’s no longer desperate for our approval, nor does she have any obligation to us. If we had gone in demanding, she would have shut us out completely.”
Wei Xin frowned, but Su Rong continued before she could respond.

“Besides, mother, do you think Su Yun is a fool? If we had come to her with empty words and no proof, she would have dismissed us in an instant. That’s why I prepared the letter.”
Wei Xin’s eyes widened slightly as she glanced toward the spot where Su Yun had stood only moments ago. “That letter… how did you even get it? Did Ou Lin really write it?”
Su Rong’s lips curved into a small, knowing smile. “Let’s just say I have my ways.”
Wei Xin shivered at the look in her daughter’s eyes.
There was something unnerving about the way Su Rong maneuvered situations with such precision, as if she were playing a game of chess where every piece was meticulously placed for maximum impact.
Su Han, who had been sulking quietly after his humiliating beating, finally found his voice. “So what now? We just wait?”
Su Rong shot him a sharp look. “Yes. We wait. We do as she said and line up like everyone else. If we push too hard, she’ll grow suspicious. Su Yun may be emotional, but she’s not stupid.”
Fu Wei, who had remained silent throughout the exchange, finally spoke up. His voice was low and cautious.
“And what happens when we get inside? Do you really think she’ll help us beyond this?”
Su Rong sighed, casting a glance toward the looming walls of Hope Base.
“Su Yun is someone who holds grudges. She was here before us, if she wants she can easily kick us out.
If we play it nice, she may have let us in, but she won’t trust us fully. She’ll keep us at arm’s length, and if we make a single mistake, she’ll throw us out without hesitation.”
She turned back to face the group, her gaze sharp and unwavering.
“That’s why we need to be careful. We need to prove that we are useful to her, or at the very least, make her think she still holds power over us.”
Su Rong led her family toward the long, winding line of applicants outside Hope Base.
The metallic blue walls loomed high above them, cold and indifferent, a stark reminder that they were at the mercy of those within.
The mechanical counters ahead whirred and clicked, dispensing thin stacks of application forms to those who approached.
As they stepped forward, a soft mechanical voice chimed from the counter.
“Please take an application form and proceed to the designated line. Missing or incomplete forms will result in immediate rejection.”
Su Rong reached out and took several forms, distributing them among her group.
The papers were crisp, printed with strict guidelines and intricate details that demanded precision.
Her gaze flickered over the requirements—proof of skills, personal affiliations, and prior residence. It was a comprehensive document designed to weed out the weak, the untrustworthy, and the unwanted. A clever system.
“Fill them out quickly and don’t make mistakes,” she instructed in a hushed tone. “They’ll scrutinize every word.”
The group crouched near a worn-out bench, pens scratching against paper as they filled in their details.
