Chapter 369: Chapter 369: The Past-1
Qin Feng returned to the base after successfully completing the dangerous mission.
His heart raced with excitement, not because of the praise or rewards that awaited him, but because he was finally going to reply to Su Jiyai.
He had kept her love letter close to him, thinking about it every day. Now that the mission was over, he was eager to meet her and confess his feelings.
As soon as he entered the base, he was immediately rushed to the leader’s office.
The base leader, Xin Lufang, greeted him with a wide smile.
“Qin Feng! You’ve done it again!” Xin Lufang praised, clapping his hands.
“You completed the negotiation with Cedar base without any issues. This is a huge victory for us.”
Qin Feng nodded politely, but his mind was elsewhere.
He couldn’t wait to receive his honors and then rush to see Su Jiyai.
He shifted uncomfortably, hoping this meeting would end soon.
Xin Lufang noticed Qin Feng’s distraction but continued anyway.
“You’ve shown exceptional leadership. You deserve a reward for your hard work,” Xin Lufang said, his eyes twinkling.
“Tell me, Qin Feng, what do you want as your reward?”
Qin Feng took a deep breath. This was his chance. He straightened up and looked Xin Lufang in the eye.
“I would like to be made the General of all the groups,” he said confidently.
Xin Lufang’s face lit up with approval.
“Very well!” Xin Lufang agreed with a broad smile. “You’ve earned it. From today, you are the General of all the groups.”
Qin Feng couldn’t help but feel overjoyed.
Everything was falling into place. He could finally be free from his parents’ control, marry Su Jiyai, and live the life he had dreamed of.
Just as he left the room, feeling on top of the world, he ran into Xuan Jin. She blocked his path, smiling sweetly at him.
“Qin Feng, we can finally be together now,” she said with a soft voice, looking at him expectantly.
Qin Feng frowned, not understanding what she was talking about. He gave her an indifferent glance.
“What are you talking about?” he asked, his tone sharp. “I have no interest in being with you.”
Xuan Jin’s smile faltered for a moment before she quickly regained her composure.
“Your parents have already come to my house and proposed marriage on your behalf,” she explained.
“They said it’s settled, and we’re going to be married.”
Fury boiled inside Qin Feng.
How could his parents make such a decision without his consent? He clenched his fists but kept his voice calm.
“I have no intention of marrying you, Xuan Jin,” he said coldly. “I’ve never had any interest in you.”
Xuan Jin’s eyes darkened with anger.

“You can’t just refuse like that! I’ve been waiting for you all this time,” she snapped.
“If you dare to reject me now, I’ll have my brother and my parents step in. You’ll regret crossing me.”
Qin Feng narrowed his eyes, but he didn’t say anything further.
He knew the real problem wasn’t Xuan Jin, but his own parents.
Without another word, he brushed past her and headed straight to his home.
When he arrived, he saw his parents sitting calmly at the table, sipping tea as if nothing had happened.
When they saw him, they smiled warmly and greeted him.
“Ah, Feng’er! Congratulations on becoming the new General!” his father said proudly.
Qin Feng didn’t return their smiles. He went straight to the point.
“What is this about arranging my marriage with Xuan Jin?” he demanded. His voice was low but filled with anger.
“You both promised me I could choose my own bride once I became General. So why did you go behind my back and propose to Xuan Jin’s family?”
His parents exchanged a look before his mother spoke, her tone soft but firm.
“Feng’er, we did it for your own good,” she said.
“Xuan Jin comes from a powerful family. Marrying her will strengthen your position as General. It’s the best choice for your future.”
Qin Feng’s jaw tightened.
“I don’t care about her family’s power,” he said. “I already told you I’ll choose my own bride. And it won’t be Xuan Jin.”
His father sighed, setting down his teacup.
“You’re being stubborn, Feng’er,” he said. “We made this decision because it’s what’s best for you. You don’t understand the politics involved.”
Qin Feng’s eyes flashed with frustration.
“I understand perfectly,” he said, his voice hard. “But I won’t marry someone I don’t love.”
Qin Feng’s younger brother burst into the room, his eyes shining with excitement.
“Wow, big brother, you’re so lucky! You’re marrying Xuan Jin!” he said, clapping his hands.
“You should be happy! She’s amazing and her family is super powerful!”
Qin Feng frowned at his younger brother’s words.
He crossed his arms and said,
“If it’s such a great deal, then why don’t you marry her?”
His younger brother’s face twisted in frustration, and he clenched his fists.
“If I could, I would!” he shouted.
“But the proposal was for you!”
Before Qin Feng could say anything, Mr. Qin, who had been silent the whole time, suddenly spoke in a cold voice.
“Enough of this arguing. Qin Feng, you will marry Xuan Jin. If you refuse, we will disown you.”
Qin Feng didn’t flinch. In the past, he might have hesitated, but now he felt no fear.
He stood tall and spoke calmly.
“I only worked so hard to become General because I wanted to marry the girl of my dreams and not disappoint you both,” Qin Feng said, his voice steady.
“But now, since you’re going back on your promise, I won’t hesitate either. I’ll cut off all ties with this family.”
Mr. Qin’s face turned red with anger.
He laughed bitterly, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
“You think you’re that powerful now, huh? You think you can just walk away? Don’t forget—I can have you removed from your position in an instant! Then we’ll see how long you last.”
Qin Feng smiled, unfazed.
“If you want me out, go ahead. But know this—I’ve already been offered the position of General at Cedar Base. They’ve welcomed me with open arms.”
