Chapter 393: Chapter 393: Betrayal?
Su Rong leaned in closer, her voice deadly calm.
“Did you really think I would invite you here without preparing for this?”
Su Yun was confused, before she could react Su Rong swiftly pushed her away and fell onto the ground.
Su Yun in desperation thought that luck was on her side and picked up the dagger again.
Just then the door of the room was kicked open. Su Yun was startled and almost staggered back.
Seeing a swarm of people standing outside the door, her hands were shaking with fear.
A gust of wind knocked her to one side, lifting her head, she saw Fu Wei who was checking on Su Rong,
“Wife, are you okay?”
Su Rong by now had tears in her eyes and shook her head,
“I am fine…I…I was just…shocked by…sister’s sudden outburst!”
The crowd who had followed Fu Wei were on alert.
“Damn it! When Fu Wei said that his wife was in danger and he had the superpower to sense her emotions, I laughed. Turns out he was telling the truth all along.”
“Hey, are you focused on only those things? There is something more important here! Just see how much his wife is shaken!”
“Tsk…tsk…till now I have only heard of people attacking and scheming against their stepsister, but this Su Yun truly opened my eyes.”
“I have heard the rumor that she had killed Su Jin too. Now it seems it’s not a rumor anymore.”
Fu Wei glared at Su Yun, his eyes filled with anger.
“You tried to kill my wife in our own home,” he said coldly. “Do you have no shame?”
Su Yun’s hands trembled. She clenched the dagger tightly, but her palms were sweaty.
The crowd’s whispers grew louder, their eyes filled with suspicion and disgust.
“I-I didn’t mean to,” Su Yun stammered, taking a step back.
“Su Rong tricked me! She set me up!”
Su Rong wiped her tears and shook her head.
“Sister, why are you saying this? I just wanted to talk, but you—” She choked on her words, looking hurt.
“Enough lies!” someone in the crowd shouted. “We saw everything!”
“She had a dagger in her hand! She wanted to kill Su Rong!” another voice added.
Su Yun’s heart pounded. She was losing control of the situation.
Fu Wei turned to the crowd.
“You all saw it. She came here with the intent to kill. Do we still let a murderer roam free?”
The crowd murmured in agreement.
Su Yun’s face turned pale. She knew if she stayed any longer, she wouldn’t escape this.
Without thinking, she spun on her heels and bolted toward the door.
However, she still underestimated the power of the enraged crowd.
Before Su Yun could reach the door, someone stuck out a foot and tripped her.
She fell hard onto the wooden floor, the dagger slipping from her grip and sliding across the room.
“Don’t let her escape!” a man shouted.
A few people rushed forward, grabbing Su Yun by the arms before she could get up.
She struggled, kicking and twisting, but their grip was too strong.
“Let go of me!” she screamed, her voice shaking with fear.
“This is a trap! Su Rong planned all of this!”
“Enough!” Fu Wei’s voice boomed through the room. “Do you really think anyone here will believe you?”
The crowd murmured in agreement.
“She killed Su Jin.”
“And now she tried to kill Su Rong!”
“She’s dangerous! Let’s take her to Boss Su!”
Su Yun’s face twisted in panic. “No! I was framed! I—”
A loud slap echoed through the room. Wei Xin had stepped forward, her hand still raised from striking Su Yun.
“You have shamed this family enough,” she said coldly.
“You killed your own father. You wanted to kill your sister. Do you have any humanity left?”
Su Yun’s eyes widened.
‘So mom knew too? This little b*tch Su Rong had told everyone! No! If I am going down then, I am going to take her down too!’
With a sudden burst of strength, she yanked herself free from the people holding her and lunged toward Su Rong.
“You ruined my life!” she screamed, her fingers reaching for Su Rong’s throat.
But before she could touch her, Fu Wei moved like lightning.
With a strong kick, he sent Su Yun flying back onto the floor.
“Stay away from my wife!” he growled, his eyes cold.
Su Yun coughed, struggling to get up, but before she could, a pair of boots stepped in front of her.
In the end, Su Yun was dragged to the reception.
Yuan Xin was dealing with some matters peacefully when a crowd approached him.
He subconsciously ignored them, but the crowd reached up to him and started to recount everything to Yuan Xin.
Hearing that someone tried to kill their own sister and father, his expression changed.
All this while Su Yun struggled. She desperately looked around in the hopes of finding a helper. Anyone!
And then her eyes landed on Pei Meng.
In an instant, her eyes lit up and she practically shouted,
“Pei Meng! Pei Meng save me!”
Pei Meng however looked at her coldly and said,
“Su Yun you disappoint me.”
With that, he turned his back to her.
Su Yun’s heart sank.
She stared at Pei Meng in shock, her mouth opening and closing like a fish gasping for air.
“N-No! Pei Meng, you can’t turn your back on me!” she shrieked, struggling harder.
“You said you’d always protect me!”
Pei Meng didn’t even glance at her. His hands clenched into fists as he let out a long sigh.
“I thought you were different,” he said, his voice full of disappointment. “But you’ve been lying this whole time.”
Su Yun’s face twisted with desperation.
“No! They’re lying! Su Rong set me up! You believe me, don’t you? You have to believe me!”
But Pei Meng didn’t respond.
Yuan Xin, who had been listening quietly, finally spoke.
“Wait a minute, let me tell this news to Boss Su.”
With that, he stood up and left.
After 5 minutes he returned and announced,
“Boss Su has decided to kick her out and ban Su Yun from the Hope Base and all the bases under Boss Su’s name.”
Hearing his verdict, Su Yun’s face turned pale.
She had no savings, and the nearest bases from Hope Base were Willow Base, Raven Base, and Crystal Cove.
All three of them were destroyed.
There was Aurora base and Cedar base too, but it would take her 2 weeks to reach there.
Not to mention she has no fighting skills.
She was able to make it to the Hope Base because of the powerful people in the group of travelers.
But now…
How will she find another traveler’s group?
What broke her heart even more was…not being able to live in the Hope Base.
She was used to the luxury of the Hope Base and knew the cruel world beyond the base.
Not wanting to live a frugal and crude life where even the water was a luxury, she turned toward Su Rong and begged,
“Please! Please I won’t do it again! Don’t kick me out!”
Su Rong only buried her face in Fu Wei’s chest and acted like a frightened rabbit.
Su Yun gritted her teeth in frustration but didn’t dare to show her rude side.
She was about to beg her humbly again when she heard a choked masculine voice.
“Can you all, please let me…be alone with her for 5 minutes, before she gets kicked out ?” Pei Meng’s voice was shaky, and his eyes looked red like he was holding back tears.
The crowd hesitated for a moment, but since Pei Meng was well-respected, they slowly backed away, giving him space.
Even Fu Wei, though still glaring at Su Yun, sighed and nodded.
“You have five minutes,” Yuan Xin said. “After that, she’s out.”
Su Yun felt a tiny spark of hope.
Maybe Pei Meng would still help her! Maybe she could change his mind!
As soon as the crowd moved back, Su Yun rushed forward and grabbed Pei Meng’s arm.
“Pei Meng! You have to save me!” she whispered desperately.
“I— I made a mistake, okay? But it’s not too late! You and I, we can leave this place together! You always said you wanted a partner, right?”
Pei Meng didn’t move. He just looked down at her with a sad expression.
“Su Yun…” he said softly.
For a moment, Su Yun thought she had won.
She forced out a few fake tears, hoping to gain his sympathy.
But then—
Pei Meng leaned towards her ears and said softly,
“It was nice playing with you. I hope to never see you again.”
Su Yun was horrified and looked Pei Meng in his eyes,
“You…You…”
“I was acting all along.” Pei Meng admitted nonchalantly.
“Why? Why?” Su Yun questioned in disbelief. She couldn’t believe that the simp who followed her daily was acting all along.
