Chapter 397: Chapter 397: Awakening
Time passed, and soon, Su Rong and Fu Wei finished setting their trap.
Su Rong stood in the middle of the clearing, looking around nervously but trying to act brave.
“I know you’re here, Su Jiyai!” she called out, her voice echoing in the woods.
“Come out and face me! I’m not afraid of you anymore!”
Qin Feng snorted. “Not afraid? Yeah, right. She looks like she’s about to faint.”
Su Jiyai nodded, her gaze fixed on Su Rong. “Let’s give her what she wants.”
Qin Feng understood her signal.
With that, he flicked his hand, and suddenly, a gust of wind swept through the clearing, making the trees shake and the leaves swirl around.
Su Rong gasped, her eyes wide with fear. “W-what’s happening?!”
Qin Feng whispered beside Su Jiyai, “A little dramatic, don’t you think?”
Su Jiyai chuckled. “Dramatic’s fun. Now bring the snake back.”
Qin Feng closed his eyes and thought of the snake he had seen before the apocalypse.
After the apocalypse, no normal snake was left. All of them had turned into a mutated beast. So finding a snake was difficult.
In the end, Qin Feng used his superpower, Illusion, to mislead Su Rong and Fu Wei.
Suddenly, the same snake appeared in front of Su Rong and Fu Wei.
Su Rong froze, her mouth hanging open in shock. “You… you really are alive!”
The big snake hissed, its blue eyes glowing just like in Su Rong’s dream. She took a shaky step back, her heart pounding.
Fu Wei tightened his grip on his sword. “Get ready, Rong. This could be it.”
Su Rong nodded, trying to act brave even though her legs felt like jelly.
“I’m not afraid of you, Su Jiyai!” she yelled, though her voice was shaky.
The snake slithered closer, its huge body moving slowly, making the grass rustle under it. Su Rong gulped and glanced at Fu Wei.
“Are you sure the trap will work?” she whispered nervously.
Fu Wei nodded but didn’t take his eyes off the snake. “Just stay where you are. We’ve got this.”
Su Jiyai and Qin Feng, still invisible, were watching the whole thing from the trees.
Qin Feng grinned and whispered,
“They’re really buying it. Should we let them think they’re winning for a bit?”
Su Jiyai smirked. “Yeah, let’s play along.”
The snake suddenly stopped right in front of Su Rong.
Its head swayed from side to side, and for a moment, it looked like it was staring straight at her.
Su Rong’s knees were shaking, but she forced herself to stand her ground.

Then, out of nowhere, the snake lunged forward, its fangs flashing.
Su Rong screamed and ducked, falling to the ground.
“Now, Wei!” she yelled.
Fu Wei jumped forward, swinging his sword with all his strength.
The snake fell to the ground, blood oozing from its mouth.
Su Rong and Fu Wei were delighted.
They stared at the snake intently. They were planning to kill the snake if it made even the slightest bit of movement.
[Host, Yuan Xin is about to awaken his superpower.]
The system’s sudden notification shocked Su Jiyai.
She whispered in her mind,
“Right now?”
[Yes, host.]
“That is great. But why are you telling me?” Su Jiyai questioned in confusion.
[Host, you need to make sure no one is around him; his condition is pretty unstable.]
Su Jiyai sighed.
But understanding the problem it could cause and fearing about Yuan Xin’s health, she agreed.
“Alright.”
Su Jiyai could only give up on the good show and tapped on Qin Feng’s shoulder.
“I need to leave.”
Qin Feng understood her signal and teleported back to the room.
The moment they disappeared, the snake on the ground disappeared too, leaving Su Rong and Fu Wei confused,
“Did we…or did we not kill the snake?”
“I don’t know…maybe it was an illusion?” Su Rong muttered. There were no traces of blood left on the ground the moment the snake disappeared.
…………
On the other hand, Su Jiyai and Qin Feng returned to his room.
Su Jiyai jumped down from Qin Feng’s shoulder and hurriedly walked toward the bathroom,
“I have some personal business to deal with.”
Qin Feng nodded as if he believed that Su Jiyai only wanted to use the bathroom.
What she didn’t know was that…for some reason, he could hear the voice of the so-called ‘system’ whenever Su Jiyai made physical contact with him.
Su Jiyai, unaware that her secret was already exposed, entered the bathroom and closed the door.
“Teleport me to the underground room.”
[Yes, host.]
The next second, Su Jiyai was enveloped by the familiar white light, followed by a dizzying sensation. When she opened her eyes, she found herself in front of the monitor.
She quickly found Yuan Xin’s location and found him sitting in his reception room.
He was sleeping on the desk. Beside him, Huo Ning was patting his back and comforting him.
Su Jiyai immediately said,
“Huo Ning, bring Yuan Xin to the conference room.”
Huo Ning blinked in surprise when she heard Su Jiyai’s voice through the speakers.
Even though she was used to Su Jiyai giving orders this way, it still made her jump a little.
She looked down at Yuan Xin, who was still sleeping on the desk, and gently shook him awake.
“Yuan Xin, wake up. Boss Su wants us to go to the conference room,” Huo Ning whispered softly.
Yuan Xin stirred, rubbing his eyes with his small hands.
“The conference room? Why?” he mumbled, still half-asleep.
“I don’t know, but we should listen to her,” Huo Ning said, helping him stand up. “Come on, let’s go.”
The two kids made their way to the conference room, Yuan Xin wobbling a bit as he was still groggy.
Huo Ning was holding his hand the whole time, making sure he didn’t stumble.
She was always like a big sister to him, even though she was only two years older.
When they reached the conference room, Huo Ning helped Yuan Xin sit down in one of the chairs.
He leaned back, still looking tired.

“Boss Su, we’re here,” Huo Ning called out, her voice echoing slightly in the empty room.
Su Jiyai’s voice came through the speakers again, calm but firm.
“Good. Now, Huo Ning, I need you to stay calm. Yuan Xin is about to awaken his superpower, and it might be a little… chaotic.”
Huo Ning’s eyes widened. “Awaken his superpower? Like… right now?”
“Yes, right now,” Su Jiyai answered.
“But don’t worry. Just make sure he’s comfortable and doesn’t panic. Everything will be fine.”
Yuan Xin, still a little dazed, frowned. “My superpower…?”
Huo Ning looked at him, her heart pounding a little.
She had already awakened her own power half a year ago and knew the pain one has to go through.
“It’s okay, Yuan Xin,” she said, squeezing his hand. “I’m right here with you.”
Yuan Xin nodded, though he still looked confused. “What if… what if I mess up?”
“You won’t,” Huo Ning said firmly. “Boss Su is watching over us. She’ll help.”
Yuan Xin took a deep breath and tried to relax in the chair, though his heart was racing.
He had heard stories about people awakening their superpowers—sometimes it was exciting, but other times it was terrifying.
He didn’t know which one he was going to get.
Suddenly, a strange warmth spread through his chest, making him sit up straighter.
His breathing quickened as the warmth turned into something stronger, like energy buzzing just under his skin.
“Huo Ning… I feel weird,” he whispered, his voice shaky.
Huo Ning squeezed his hand again. “It’s starting, Yuan Xin. Just stay calm, okay?”
The energy inside him grew stronger, like a fire that was about to burst out. Yuan Xin’s hands started to tremble, and his eyes widened in fear.
“H-Huo Ning! It’s too much!” he cried out.
“It’s okay! Just breathe!” Huo Ning said quickly, trying to stay calm even though she was getting scared, too.
Suddenly, a small burst of light flashed from Yuan Xin’s hands, making him gasp.
The light flickered, then disappeared just as quickly as it had come. Yuan Xin stared at his hands in shock, his heart racing even faster.
“Wh-what just happened?” he asked, his voice shaking.
Su Jiyai’s voice came through the speakers again.
“That was the first sign. It means your superpower is starting to manifest. Just stay calm, Yuan Xin. It’s not over yet.”
Yuan Xin took a shaky breath, his hands still trembling. He could feel the energy building up again, like it was going to explode.
And then, without warning, the room around them started to change. The walls began to shimmer, and the air felt different, almost like it was being pulled in all directions at once.
Huo Ning’s eyes widened as she looked around. “Yuan Xin, are you doing this?”
“I… I don’t know!” Yuan Xin stammered, panicking as the room continued to warp around them.
