Chapter 401: Chapter 401: Message
[But Host, it requires a connection link that can be tracked both ways. If Kane presses the button, you will be able to reach his location, but he can also potentially track your whereabouts when the connection is active. Would you still like to proceed?]
Su Jiyai frowned, contemplating the system’s warning.
A connection link that could work both ways posed risks.
However, she needed Kane for the information he held about her mother and the possibility of curing the zombie virus.
His reluctance to stay with her made the call button essential. She could monitor the link to make sure she didn’t expose her base’s location too easily.
“Do it,” she said with determination. “I’ll manage the risks.”
[Understood. The call button has been added to your inventory.]
Su Jiyai retrieved the small device and opened the hatch again, passing it through to Kane.
“Take this,” she instructed.
“If you ever need help, press the button, and I’ll find you. But remember, I’ll also know where you are.”
Kane took the button and inspected it with his glowing eyes. He seemed to understand the implications and nodded slowly.
“I… thank you,” he rasped, his voice low. “I will use it… when needed.”
Su Jiyai nodded, satisfied with the exchange but still wary. There was more to uncover, more questions that needed answers. Kane, with his half-formed memories, was only the beginning.
“Kane, I need you to be careful. Don’t reveal yourself to anyone else. Stay hidden as best as you can,” Su Jiyai warned, her eyes locking with his through the monitor.
“I will,” Kane promised, turning to leave, but he hesitated for a moment. “I… hope you find what you’re looking for.”
And with that, he vanished into the distance, his figure growing smaller as he disappeared from sight.
[Host, what should we do?]
Su Jiyai smirked and said,
“Do you still remember the news we got from Jax?”
[Yes, host.]
Su Jiyai leaned on the chair and smiled
“Then we will use it to our benefit.”
[Host you mean…]
“Exactly.” Su Jiyai nodded her head.
After adapting to her new life, she finally started to have control all over China.
“Ask Jax to send a message on my behalf to HQ.”
………………………………
A month had passed since HQ had stood before the Devil, trembling under his oppressive gaze.
Now, he was back in the same dreaded chamber, the cold air biting at his skin, the flickering torches casting long, eerie shadows.
The Devil sat unmoving on his throne, the darkness around him writhing like living tendrils.

His fingers tapped slowly against the armrest, the rhythmic sound filling the suffocating silence.
HQ dropped to one knee, bowing his head as he spoke. “My lord… I have returned.”
The Devil’s voice was slow, deliberate. “Did you find anything?”
HQ hesitated for only a second but shook his head. “No, my lord… only that behind everything was… a blue cat.”
The air in the room seemed to crackle with tension. The Devil’s fingers stopped tapping. The room darkened as the shadows grew denser, pressing in like an invisible force.
“A… blue cat?” the Devil repeated, his voice a dangerous whisper.
Before HQ could react, an invisible force wrapped around his throat, lifting him off the ground. His legs kicked helplessly as he gasped for breath.
“You wasted an entire month to tell me this?” The Devil’s tone was quiet, but the fury beneath it was unmistakable.
HQ clawed at his neck, struggling against the crushing force. “W-wait!” he choked out, his voice barely a whisper. “I found… something more important!”
The pressure eased slightly but did not disappear. The Devil tilted his head. “Speak. Quickly.”
Coughing and panting, HQ forced the words out. “I… I found a girl. A girl who can… grow vegetables in barren land.”
The Devil’s grip loosened entirely, and HQ collapsed to the ground, gasping for air. The room fell into a deep silence, heavy with anticipation.
“Repeat that,” the Devil ordered, his voice now laced with something more dangerous than anger—interest.
HQ lifted his head, still kneeling. “A girl, my lord. She has the ability to grow crops in dead soil. I saw it with my own eyes.”
The Devil’s fingers clenched the armrest, his posture unnervingly still. “The prophecy… is coming true,” he muttered under his breath.
The six figures standing in line before the throne exchanged glances, their expressions unreadable.
After a long, tense pause, the Devil’s eyes glowed faintly beneath his hood. “Where?” he demanded.
HQ swallowed hard, forcing his voice to remain steady. “Boss Su’s base, my lord.”
The Devil stood abruptly, the shadows in the room swirling violently. His voice rang with an authority that sent a shiver through everyone present. “Prepare for an attack on Boss Su’s base.”
The six figures straightened instantly, their eyes gleaming with anticipation.
“The attack will be swift and merciless,” the Devil continued. “The destruction must be absolute. I want that base wiped from existence. Leave no survivors.”
One of the six, a man with cold, calculating eyes, stepped forward. “Shall we take prisoners, my lord?”
The Devil’s lips curled into a smirk. “No. We do not need prisoners. We need devastation. But…” He paused, his eyes narrowing. “Bring me the girl. Alive.”
“Understood,” the six figures responded in unison, their voices echoing like a death knell.
HQ watched in silence as his fellow subordinates bowed before the Devil and dispersed, ready to bring about total annihilation.
After a month, just when all the preparations were made, HQ received a message from Jax.
It was said in a hurry, and from Jax’s tone, it was clear that he was panicking,
“Sir, Boss Su is going to join hands with the zombies.”
“The zombies?” HQ was stunned.
“Yes, the name of the zombie king is Narak,” Jax explained.
“Narak? The zombie king who refused to cooperate even with us?” HQ asked in shock.
“Yes, apparently Boss Su had offered to make the zombie king human again while ensuring that his power stays.” Jax continued.
