Chapter 403: Chapter 403: Betrayal
10 minutes before.
Narak was setting off when his subordinates informed him that more than 12000 humans were moving in his direction.
The first thought that came to Narak’s mind was that Boss Su’s people were going to attack them.
After all, he had made such a big movement; how could Boss Su remain unaware of the upcoming war he was going to lead?
So when the newly arrived humans shouted that they were Boss Su’s people, Narak’s suspicion was confirmed.
Narak’s eyes darkened as he processed the information.
Twelve thousand humans.
It was no small number. He had expected resistance, but for Boss Su to send such a force so quickly?
He clicked his claws against the bone plating of his forearm, thinking. His red eyes glowed dimly in the darkness as he turned to his second-in-command, a towering zombie with jagged armor-like flesh.
“They come,” Narak growled in his ancient tongue. “We were right. Boss Su moves first.”
The other zombies let out a low snarl of agreement. The army behind them stirred, their collective hunger rising.
“Let them come,” Narak commanded. “And when they do—mark their aura. Let no mistake be made.”
Then, he waited.
When HQ and his forces arrived, Narak observed them carefully. Their weapons, their movements, their eagerness to shout Boss Su’s name—it was too deliberate.
Do the people from Boss Su’s base think they are dumb zombies and can’t understand humans?
Were they looking down on him?
Narak was furious.
“Their aura is different from Boss Su’s people, it doesn’t mean they aren’t Boss Su’s people. Maybe there are hidden people of Boss Su?”
He muttered, and a look of realization appeared in his eyes.
Earlier, he had seen these people, but he chose to ignore them since they weren’t on the humans’ side.
Now it seemed that it was all an illusion Boss Su had created just to deceive them.
Narak’s red eyes gleamed with cold fury.
He slowly raised his hand, and his army of the undead responded instantly.
“Kill them,” he commanded in his ancient tongue.
The zombies lunged forward, their movements swift and ruthless.
HQ’s soldiers screamed as the undead tore through their ranks.
Blood splattered against the cracked pavement as, one by one, the humans fell.
HQ barely had time to react before Narak himself was upon him.
The Zombie King moved like a shadow—fast, deadly, unstoppable.
Before HQ could lift his weapon, a powerful clawed hand wrapped around his throat, lifting him off the ground with ease.

HQ struggled, gasping for air, but Narak’s grip was like iron.
“You,” Narak growled, his deep, guttural voice sending chills down HQ’s spine.
“Are you Boss Su?”
To HQ, the words were nothing but monstrous snarls. He couldn’t understand a single thing.
He clawed at Narak’s hand, panic setting in. The pressure around his throat increased. His vision blurred.
I’m going to die!
Desperately, HQ pressed his index finger—a hidden trigger implanted in his skin.
A surge of power rushed through him.
A blinding light exploded from his body as a new force awakened within him.
Psychic powers.
A sudden invisible force struck Narak, making him loosen his grip.
HQ dropped to the ground, coughing. He quickly stepped back, raising his trembling hands.
Narak tilted his head, amusement flickering in his crimson gaze.
“Hmm?” The Zombie King chuckled darkly. “Are you… tickling me?”
His words were deep and mocking, but HQ still couldn’t understand a thing. All he knew was that his power hadn’t affected Narak at all.
HQ’s heart pounded. He pressed his finger again, increasing the strength of his psychic attack.
A powerful wave of energy shot toward Narak. The very air trembled as the force struck him, distorting the space around them.
But Narak remained unfazed. He took a single step forward, completely unaffected.
HQ’s breath hitched. It’s not working?!
Gritting his teeth, he pressed harder.
The ground cracked beneath them as his psychic energy surged, lifting debris into the air. HQ focused everything he had, forcing the power to its limit.
Finally, Narak’s body shifted.
For the first time, the Zombie King was pushed back.
His feet skidded across the ground, and he came to a stop several meters away.
A heavy silence filled the battlefield. The surviving zombies and humans freeze, watching in shock.
HQ stood there, panting, sweat dripping down his face. His body trembled from the strain.
Narak slowly straightened, his red eyes burning with an eerie light.
He looked at HQ, and for the first time, true interest flickered across his face.
“Boss Su…” Narak muttered to himself, his voice low. “You truly are powerful… since you have someone like this.”
His gaze locked onto HQ.
HQ’s breath was heavy, his body aching from using too much power. He knew he had only pushed Narak back, not defeated him.
The Zombie King wiped the dust from his shoulder, his red eyes glowing even brighter.
“Interesting,” Narak muttered. “You’re strong for a human.”
HQ didn’t understand his words, but he didn’t need to. The way Narak stepped forward, his claws flexing, was enough.
He’s coming!
HQ braced himself as Narak lunged.
He barely had time to react before the Zombie King was in front of him, swinging a deadly claw toward his chest. HQ threw up his arms, using his psychic power to form an invisible shield.
Boom!
The impact sent shockwaves through the air. HQ slid backward, his feet digging into the dirt. His arms trembled.
He’s too strong!
Narak grinned. “Is that all?”
With a flicker of movement, he disappeared from sight.
HQ’s eyes widened. Where—?!
A sudden force slammed into his side.
He flew through the air, crashing into a broken wall. Pain exploded through his body as debris rained down.
“Captain!” one of his subordinates shouted.
HQ groaned, forcing himself up. His men were struggling against the zombies. The undead were too many, too strong.
We have to get out of here!
Narak walked toward him, his claws dripping with dark energy.
HQ knew he couldn’t win.
He pressed his finger again, gathering the last of his power. His head pounded, but he had no choice.
With a desperate roar, he unleashed a final psychic wave, pushing Narak and the nearby zombies away.
“Now! Retreat!” HQ shouted.
His remaining subordinates ran to him, dodging the grasping hands of the undead.
HQ grabbed the closest one and used his powers to lift them into the air.
They soared over the battlefield, just beyond the reach of the zombies below.
Narak stood watching, unfazed.
“Run while you can,” the Zombie King murmured. “Next time, you won’t be so lucky.”
HQ didn’t hear him. He was too focused on escaping.
His body screamed in pain, but he didn’t stop.
Soon, he and his remaining subordinates reached back.
HQ and his remaining soldiers finally reached their base.
Their clothes were torn, and their bodies were covered in wounds.
Some soldiers were limping while others were barely able to walk.
HQ himself was exhausted, his head pounding from using too much of his psychic powers.
The moment they landed, the guards at the entrance ran forward.
“Captain HQ! What happened? Where are the others?”
“Gone…” HQ muttered, breathing heavily.
“We lost too many. The Zombie King… he’s too strong.”
The guards looked at each other with fear but quickly helped HQ and his men inside.
They led them to the main hall, where the Devil, their leader, was waiting.
The devil sat on a high throne, his dark eyes watching as HQ stumbled in.
“So? What news do you bring?”
HQ fell to one knee, still struggling to catch his breath.
“The Zombie King… Narak… he thought we were from Boss Su’s base. He believed Boss Su sent us to fight him. He attacked us without hesitation.”
Devil’s eyes gleamed with satisfaction.
“Oh? Is that so?” He let out a deep chuckle, leaning back against his throne.
“Then that means Boss Su and the Zombie King will never work together. This is perfect!”
He clapped his hands together, excitement flashing across his face.
HQ wiped the sweat from his forehead. “Yes, Lord Devil. Narak was completely fooled.
Devil stood up from his throne, walking down the steps toward HQ.
“You have done well, HQ. You faced the Zombie King and survived. That alone is impressive. And now, thanks to you, we no longer have to worry about Boss Su and Narak joining forces.”
He placed a hand on HQ’s shoulder, his touch surprisingly warm.
“You look like you’re about to collapse. Let me help you.”
Devil raised his other hand, and a dark mist surrounded HQ.
Instantly, HQ felt his pain fading, his wounds closing, and his strength returning.
His mind, which had been clouded with exhaustion, became clear again.
HQ gasped as he felt energy rushing back into his body.
“Lord Devil… your power… it’s incredible.”
Devil chuckled again, his sharp eyes filled with amusement.
“Of course. What kind of leader would I be if I let my best warrior suffer?”
He turned to the other soldiers and waved his hand. The same dark mist spread, healing them as well.
