Chapter 417: Chapter 417: Array
Su Jiyai stepped toward the center of the empty room, positioning herself where the system had detected the array’s focal point.
She closed her eyes and began to channel her fire element, focusing the energy toward the invisible force within the room.
As the flames swirled around her, the air began to shimmer, distorting the space around her.
A strange pressure filled the room as if the array itself was resisting her efforts. Su Jiyai gritted her teeth, pouring more energy into the center.
But the array wasn’t giving in.
The more energy Su Jiyai sent out, the stronger the resistance became. It felt like trying to push through a wall made of thick, invisible chains.
Sweat dripped down her forehead, and her muscles strained as she fought to keep her concentration.
After several minutes, Su Jiyai let out a frustrated breath and tried again.
And again. Every time, the array pushed back, refusing to break.
Xi Ping, who had been watching this entire time, crossed her arms with a doubtful look.
“Boss Su, I think you’re just wasting time,” she said, her voice carrying a hint of frustration. “It’s not going to work.”
Su Jiyai shook her head, her eyes full of determination.
“No, it will work. I just need to measure the power I’m sending to the center. I’m close, I can feel it.”
Xi Ping sighed and shook her head.
“You’re going crazy,” she muttered under her breath, feeling like Su Jiyai was chasing after a hopeless idea.
The sun had risen high when Su Jiyai first started, and now it was beginning to set. Xi Ping couldn’t understand why Su Jiyai wouldn’t give up.
But Su Jiyai didn’t stop.
She kept channeling her fire energy, testing different amounts of power, pushing herself over and over again.
From dawn till dusk, she never gave up, even though her body was exhausted and her mind felt heavy.
Just when Xi Ping was about to walk away, believing that Su Jiyai had truly lost it, something happened.
A loud crack echoed through the room.
The shimmering air around Su Jiyai rippled as if a stone had been thrown into a pond, and then, with a loud whoosh, the illusion array shattered.
The walls of the room seemed to warp and twist, revealing a glowing pool of energy in the center—a cultivation pool.
Xi Ping’s jaw dropped, her eyes wide with shock. “You… you actually did it!” she gasped.
But before she could take another step, Su Jiyai suddenly rolled away from where she had been standing.
“Move back!” Su Jiyai shouted.
In the exact spot where Su Jiyai had stood, the ground erupted, spewing molten magma into the air.
The heat from the lava was intense, filling the room with a blistering wave of fire and smoke.
Su Jiyai acted quickly, her mind racing. “System! Teleport the magma to a nearby river, now!”

Before the magma could spill across the floor, the system acted.
A bright light flashed, and the molten lava was instantly teleported away, leaving the room safe and cool once more.
Xi Ping, still stunned from everything that had just happened, looked at Su Jiyai with wide eyes.
“What…what has happened? Why did magma arrive suddenly? And wait…why did it disappear?”
Su Jiyai knew what was going on.
The fire she was sending inside the array accumulated and eventually turned into magma; if she hadn’t moved away in time, she would have turned into burnt charcoal.
However, she couldn’t explain to Xi Ping why the magma had disappeared and hence said,
“It was maybe of the tricks of illusion array.”
Xi Ping nodded, feeling that what Su Jiyai said made sense.
“Let’s get into the pool,” Su Jiyai said, pointing toward the glowing pool of energy they had just uncovered. “We need to try cultivating there.”
Xi Ping glanced at the pool with a hesitant look but nodded. “Alright. But I hope there aren’t any more surprises like magma!”
Su Jiyai chuckled, but there was a serious look in her eyes. “No more surprises, I promise.”
They both stepped toward the pool and carefully entered the water.
As soon as they submerged themselves, they felt a strange sensation.
The water was warm, and it seemed to pulse with energy, like it was alive.
Su Jiyai closed her eyes and started to cultivate. She focused on drawing in the energy around her, letting it flow into her body.
To her shock, the energy rushed toward her at a speed she had never experienced before.
It was like the water was amplifying everything.
Her cultivation rose rapidly, and she could feel her strength growing with each passing second.
Su Jiyai’s eyes snapped open in surprise.
“This… this is incredible!” she whispered.
Xi Ping, who had been doing the same, opened her eyes and stared at Su Jiyai.
“Boss Su, I feel it too! My cultivation… it’s rising so fast! I’ve never felt anything like this!”
They both stayed in the pool, soaking up as much energy as they could, their cultivation levels soaring.
It was as if the power of the pool had multiplied their efforts by ten times.
After what felt like hours, they finally climbed out of the pool, both of them glowing with new energy.
Xi Ping looked down at her hands, almost unable to believe how much stronger she had become in such a short time.
“This pool… It’s like a miracle!”
Su Jiyai, on the other hand, had something else on her mind.
As Xi Ping admired the boost to her cultivation, Su Jiyai secretly whispered to the system.
“System, can this water be multiplied?” she asked, her voice quiet so Xi Ping wouldn’t hear.
For a moment, there was only silence. Su Jiyai wondered if the system was thinking it over.
Then, the system responded.
[It is possible, host.]
Seeing how silent the system was, Su Jiyai suddenly had a guess and asked,
“Hey, system, don’t tell me that the pool contains the legendary spring water.”
The system stayed silent for a moment longer, almost as if it were processing Su Jiyai’s question carefully.
[Host, I cannot confirm it as ‘legendary spring water’ in a traditional sense, but the energy from this pool has properties similar to what ancient records describe.]
Su Jiyai’s eyes widened. Similar to legendary spring water? If that were true, the potential of this pool was even greater than she had imagined.
The system had previously told her that the spring water could help increase the chances of awakening a superpower.
So the pool’s water might work the same, too!
“System,” Su Jiyai continued quietly, “How much does it cost to multiply the spring water?”
[Host, 1kg of water should cost you 1000 federal coins.]
Su Jiyai’s eyes brightened, and she turned toward Xi Ping,
“Can you go outside for a few minutes?”
“Okay, Boss Su.” Xi Ping nodded and left. She didn’t ask any questions. It was stated in her contract that she shouldn’t question anything.
Once she left, Su Jiyai bought a bottle from the system and scooped up some of the spring water.
For a moment, she hesitated before asking the system,
“Can you purify it? Just few moments ago, Xi Ping and I were taking bath in it.”
The system paused for a second before responding.
[Host, the purification process will take a few seconds and will cost you an additional 100 federal coins. Would you like to proceed?]
Su Jiyai sighed, knowing the system would always squeeze out extra costs where it could, but she was willing to pay to ensure the spring water was at its best.
“Yes, proceed with the purification,” she instructed.
[Affirmative, host. Beginning purification.]
A soft hum filled the air, and Su Jiyai watched as the bottle of water in her hand glowed faintly.
The impurities were being filtered out, leaving behind a pristine, shimmering liquid that sparkled under the dim light of the room.
[Purification complete.]
Su Jiyai looked at the bottle, now filled with pure, powerful spring water.
“Take this bottle and start the multiplication process. Oh, and take these too.”
She took out some of the complete cultivation manuals and offered them in the air.
The next second, the paper and the bottle vanished, followed by the system’s calm voice,
[Okay, host.]
Just as she was about to call Xi Ping back inside, the system spoke again.
[Host, I advise caution with using the spring water too liberally. While it can enhance cultivation and increase the chances of awakening a superpower, overuse could lead to instability or unintended side effects.]
Su Jiyai raised an eyebrow. “Instability? What kind of side effects are we talking about?”
[Unpredictable mutations, permanent changes to the body, or uncontrolled outbursts of energy. In rare cases, a user might lose their ability temporarily too.]
Su Jiyai’s excitement was tempered slightly by this warning. She made a mental note to be careful when using the spring water in the future.
The last thing she wanted was to lose control of her powers, especially in a world as dangerous as the one she lived in.
