Chapter 419: Chapter 419: Intruder
The man standing outside Hope Base was unmistakable—light brown hair, a lean build, and a furious expression twisting his once-composed features.
It was Xi Ping’s brother, the very person Xi Ping had pleaded with Su Jiyai to find.
But something about this situation was off. Xi Ziang was relentlessly attacking the electric metallic blue wall surrounding Hope Base with fire.
The heat of his superpower licked at the walls, causing faint flickers of sparks to dance along the edges of the electric field. Su Jiyai’s confusion deepened.
The Xi Ziang she had known in the past didn’t possess any superpower, let alone one as volatile as fire superpower.
She pressed her finger to the control panel and activated the mic. Her voice, now disguised by the system’s robotic filter, echoed through the speaker system.
“Hello mister, what are you doing?” she asked, her tone devoid of warmth.
Xi Ziang froze mid-attack, his head snapping toward the camera.
The rage in his eyes flickered briefly, replaced by recognition and desperation. He narrowed his gaze at the surveillance lens and growled.
“Open the door, Boss Su, or I’ll burn this entire wall down!” he threatened, the fire flickering in his hand, though his bravado seemed slightly forced.
Su Jiyai’s lips curled into a cold smile as she chuckled inwardly.
This was the same man who used to side with Li Yuan and constantly forced her to apologize for the most trivial of matters.
The memory of their encounters flashed in her mind—how Xi Ziang had enjoyed mocking her, belittling her strength, and humiliating her.
She could recall his taunts vividly, his laughter echoing in her ears.
Now, seeing him so desperate, so full of rage, filled her with a certain sense of vindication.
She leaned toward the mic once again and spoke coldly, “Go ahead, burn it down if you can.”
She didn’t ask why. From Xi Ziang’s response, she understood that maybe he got to know that his sister was in the base and hence was rushing so much.
Xi Ziang’s eyes blazed with fury at her taunt.
Without hesitation, he resumed his assault on the wall, launching fireball after fireball at the electric barrier.
But the wall remained intact, its energy absorbing his attacks with minimal effort.
Su Jiyai watched in silence, her arms crossed over her chest as she observed the scene on the monitor.
She wasn’t in any rush to deal with him. In fact, watching him wear himself out was mildly entertaining.
But she had other tasks to handle.
“System, teleport me to Rover Base,” she ordered, and within seconds, she was whisked away from the underground room.
The work was efficient, and she teleported to Jifeng Base soon after to complete similar tasks.
Two hours later, Su Jiyai returned to Hope Base.
She walked into the underground control room and pulled up the security feed.
Xi Ziang was still outside, still launching fireballs, though now his efforts were embarrassingly weak.
His face was flushed with exertion, and his once-proud flames had reduced to pitiful flickers, barely enough to singe the grass beneath him.
A cold, satisfied smile tugged at Su Jiyai’s lips.

She had let him suffer long enough.
“System,” she said, her voice dripping with amusement, “let’s make things interesting. Counterattack. Give him a taste of what it means to challenge me.”
[Understood, host. Initiating counterattack.]
Suddenly, as Xi Ziang prepared to launch another pitiful fireball, a sharp zap of electricity shot toward him.
His reflexes kicked in just in time, and he narrowly dodged the attack.
His eyes widened, but before he could react further, another jolt came.
This time, it was smaller, a quick shock that ran through his body, sending him stumbling backward.
Panic flashed across his face as more jolts followed, each one harder to evade.
The once-mighty Xi Ziang, who had bullied her so mercilessly, was now reduced to scrambling in a pitiful attempt to avoid the shocks.
His breath came in ragged gasps, and sweat poured down his face.
Su Jiyai’s thoughts drifted to the past, to a particular mission during her time in the military.
She had been severely injured, her agility compromised as she fought to avoid the zombies.
Desperation had clawed at her chest as she called for help, fearing she wouldn’t survive the onslaught.
It was Li Yuan who had spoken first, his voice cold and dismissive.
“Since you’re so slow, Su Jiyai, maybe you should use this chance to improve your dodging skills,” he had suggested with a cruel smirk.
She had been furious, her heart pounding with fear and anger.
She hadn’t wanted to learn how to dodge in that moment; she had wanted someone to help her, to save her from the zombies that were closing in.
But no help came, not at first.
Xi Ziang had stood there, laughing at her struggle, his voice mocking and sharp.
“Pathetic,” he had called her, his laughter filling the air as she stumbled through the horde of zombies, barely managing to stay alive.
Only after she had suffered through a near-death experience did he finally step in, offering help as though it was an afterthought, something he had done for his own amusement rather than out of any real sense of compassion.
Now, watching Xi Ziang dance around like a cornered animal, evading the electric shocks as best as he could, Su Jiyai smirked,
“Serves him right!”
Xi Ziang was on the verge of collapsing, his knees buckling as he barely dodged the last zap of electricity.
His once fierce firepower had fizzled out entirely, leaving him breathless and exhausted.
Su Jiyai glanced at the monitor, her amusement fading as she ordered,
“System, stop the counterattack.”
The shocks immediately ceased, leaving Xi Ziang standing there, trembling from fatigue.
His chest heaved as he gasped for air, and Su Jiyai pressed the mic button, her voice now calm but cold.
“What’s your purpose here, attacking like this?”
Xi Ziang took a moment to catch his breath, his voice ragged as he finally responded,
“I’m here for my sister. Please… I need to see her.”
Su Jiyai raised an eyebrow, pretending to be confused.
“Your sister? Why didn’t you just wait your turn like everyone else? Why attack the base?”
Xi Ziang winced, his expression desperate.
“I’ve been trying! I submitted the documents, but… but there were problems. They said my papers were missing something, and now I can’t even get a chance to rent an apartment here! I had no other choice!”
Su Jiyai felt a flicker of surprise but quickly suppressed her smile. The system then chimed in, confirming,
[Host, I’ve checked his ID is missing and hence his application was rejected again and again.]
Missing Id card? Great she could take revenge against him for the next 3 hours!
She held back a laugh as she leaned toward the mic, her tone flat as she asked,
“And what’s your sister’s name?”
Xi Ziang’s eyes lit up with hope.
“Her name is Xi Ping! I’ve been looking for her. I know she’s in there, please—let me in!”
Su Jiyai pretended to think, tapping her fingers on the control panel.
“Xi Ping? Hmm… She did mention wanting to find her brother named Xi Ziang.” Her eyes gleamed as she added,
“What’s your name again?”
Xi Ziang, barely able to stand, perked up.
“Xi Ziang! My name is Xi Ziang! Please, just let me see her!”
Su Jiyai stayed silent for a few moments, watching him squirm. Then, with an exaggerated sigh, she said,
“Do you have any ID proof?”
At this, Xi Ziang looked like he might cry. His voice wavered as he explained,
“My ID card was destroyed… in a zombie tide. I don’t have any documents left.”
Su Jiyai pretended to be troubled, her voice softening just a little.
“Oh, that’s unfortunate. But I can’t let you in without a proper ID. What if you’re not really Xi Ziang? It could endanger Xi Ping’s safety if I just let anyone in.”
Xi Ziang’s face twisted in frustration, and his knees finally gave way, collapsing to the ground.
“Please! I swear, I’m her brother. I just need to see her. I’ve been searching for so long.”
Su Jiyai watched him for a moment, her fingers hovering over the mic, the cold smile returning to her lips.
“I’ll consider it… if you can find some proof. Otherwise, you’ll just have to wait outside.”
She let go of the button, watching Xi Ziang slump in defeat.
[Host are you planning to never let him meet Xi Ping?]
“No, I am just planning to teach him a lesson. During the military, he often acted like a cheerful person, but he was the most black-hearted person I had ever seen!
In order to avenge Li Yuan he often used to bully me. Now if I don’t bully him back, I will be at a loss. Let him feel the despair for the next hours before letting him in.”
