Chapter 420: Chapter 420: Scam
The morning light was soft, casting a gentle glow over the scene outside the Hope Base.
Xi Ziang was slumped on the ground, looking like he was going to faint from hunger.
His once fiery determination had faded into desperation, and he hadn’t eaten in hours.
Su Jiyai decides to end his torment.
She took a deep breath and then, with a mocking tone, she spoke,
“Are you really telling the truth? Is she really your sister?”
Xi Ziang, exhausted and desperate, nodded weakly.
“Yes, I swear… Please, just let her see me. She’ll recognize me.”
Su Jiyai held back a laugh.
“Fine,” she said, pretending to sound sympathetic. “You look so pitiful. I’ll help you out.”
With that, she called Xi Ping to the conference room. Her voice came through the speaker, cold but professional.
“Ping, a man is claiming to be your brother, Xi Ziang. I’m showing you his image now.”
The projector in the room lit up, and Xi Ping’s eyes widened the moment she saw the familiar face.
Her heart skipped a beat, and her eyes moistened with tears.
She stood up so quickly that her chair almost tipped over.
“Brother…!” she whispered, her voice trembling with emotion.
Turning toward the speaker, Xi Ping spoke hurriedly. “That’s him! That’s my brother! Thank you so much for finding him!”
Su Jiyai, playing innocent, replied smoothly,
“Oh? So it’s really him? Well, he was attacking the base last night. I didn’t pay attention since he didn’t have any ID. I couldn’t take any risks.”
Xi Ping’s gratitude was clear in her voice as she bowed toward the speaker.
“Thank you so much, Boss Su, for your kindness.”
Su Jiyai smiled, though Xi Ping couldn’t see it. “Go meet him then. He’s waiting outside.”
Xi Ping wasted no time.
She rushed out of the room, her heart pounding in her chest.
She had spent so long searching for him, and now, finally, she was about to see him again.
Her footsteps echoed through the hallway as she made her way toward the metallic blue electric wall.
On the other side, Xi Ziang was standing shakily, still weak but determined to see his sister.
The moment the metallic gate opened, he straightened up, taking slow, unsteady steps forward.
He had only taken about ten steps when Xi Ping appeared.
She skidded to a stop just a few feet from him, her eyes wide and tear-filled.

Her voice trembled as she spoke, “Brother Ziang…?”
Xi Ziang looked at her, his face dirty and tired, but his eyes filled with emotion.
He nodded slowly, tears gathering in his eyes too. “Ping’er…” he whispered.
Xi Ping’s heart clenched at the sight of him.
His clothes were torn, and his face was covered in dust.
He looked so thin and tired.
Without thinking, she rushed toward him and threw her arms around him in a tight hug.
“Brother!” she cried, her tears flowing freely now.
“I’ve been looking for you everywhere! I was so scared I’d never find you.”
Xi Ziang hugged her back, his arms weak but filled with relief. Tears streamed down his face as well, though he tried to hide them.
“I missed you too, Ping’er. I missed you so much.”
Xi Ping pulled back slightly, looking up at him with tear-streaked cheeks.
“You’re safe now,” she said softly, her voice shaking. “We’re together again. I won’t let anything happen to you.”
For a long moment, they just stood there, holding each other.
After a while, Xi Ping pulled away and asked,
“How did you know I was here?”
Xi Ziang wiped away his tears and explained,
“A message was getting circulated in Cedar Base that a woman named Xi Ping was getting bullied by Boss Su. I was furious and rushed here.”
Xi Ping was stunned.
Why did Boss Su spread such word?
Just as she was wondering, Su Jiyai’s voice came from a nearby speaker,
“Well, if I had said that a woman named Xi Ping from Boss Su’s base is looking for her brother, you might have got a lot of new brothers. Only your real brother would rush to danger.”
Xi Ping blinked, surprised by Su Jiyai’s explanation.
It was a twisted form of logic, but it made sense in a way.
Only someone truly desperate to find their family would risk running straight into danger like this.
Xi Ziang looked at his sister, puzzled by Su Jiyai’s words. “She… used me as a test?”
Xi Ping sighed softly and nodded.
“Seems like it.” She wasn’t entirely sure how to feel about it, but at least she had her brother back.
Xi Ziang’s voice broke her thoughts. “Ping’er… what’s going on here? Why did you join this base?”
“Brother you don’t but this is one of the best bases to live in!” Xi Ping explained.
She dragged Xi Ziang and helped him rent an apartment just near her.
As Xi Ziang explored everything, he felt as if he had come into some kind of fairytale.
“Wow…I never knew that the rumors about Boss Su’s base were true.”
“Rumors? What rumors?” Xi Ping asked.
“That Boss Su’s base had 24/7 electricity, cheap apartment rent, and cheap food price!” Xi Ziang answered.
He was amazed by how clean and luxurious the base looked.
All the resentment he harbored against the Boss Su vanished the moment he saw the residential area.
How can not Boss Su guard the base, if it is so beautiful.
……………………..
Meanwhile, other residents were busy exploring the new built cultivation hall.
“Eh? What is this cultivation hall? And why is it so expensive? 100 federal coins per hour?”
“I don’t know, even I am curious.”
“Let go and check it out. If Boss Su had built it, it must have been amazing!”
“Exactly!”
One by one the tenants entered the cultivation hall.
As the tenants entered the cultivation hall, they couldn’t help but gasp at the sight before them.
The hall was enormous, with sleek walls lined with glowing inscriptions.
Small pools of crystal-clear water, filled with a faint, shimmering glow, dotted the space.
The atmosphere was calm and peaceful, almost as if the hall itself was designed to ease one’s mind and body.
“This is incredible,” one tenant whispered, staring in awe at the pools.
Another tenant nodded in agreement. “I’ve never seen anything like this before.
They all stood there for a moment, taking in the grandeur of the space.
The pools, small but numerous, gave off a faint energy, one that seemed to draw them in.
“What do you think the water does?” one tenant asked, eyeing the pools cautiously.
“Who knows?” a different tenant shrugged.
“But if it’s here, it must be worth the price. Boss Su wouldn’t charge so much for nothing.”
Slowly, they began to approach the pools, dipping their hands into the water.
As soon as their fingers touched the liquid, they felt a rush of energy surge through their bodies.
“Wow!” one tenant exclaimed, pulling their hand back in shock.
“This water… it’s amazing! I can feel my strength growing just from touching it.”
Others started to follow, reaching into the pools and marveling at the effects.
Just then a red alarm sounded and all of them withdrew their hand.
A robotic voice sounded,
“Please swipe your card at the card swipe machine, lie in the pool and the cultivate. Your cultivation will rise by 10 times. Also, there is a pee detector machine, so don’t pee in the pool.”
The tenants exchanged amused glances at the robotic voice’s unexpected remark about the pee detector.
A few of them chuckled nervously, shaking off their initial surprise.
“Well, I guess we know the rules now,” one tenant joked.
Another laughed and muttered, “Yeah, definitely not a place for kids.”
They all approached the card-swipe machine and, one by one, began to pay for their time in the hall.
The price was steep, but the promise of tenfold cultivation speed was too tempting to resist.
Once inside, they started to lie down in the pools, the water engulfing them in a soothing embrace.
After 1 hour, each of them opened their eyes in surprise and muttered,
“My god! The pool is truly advantageous! I feel my cultivation soaring!”
“Me too! I am going to stay in the pool for the next 5 hours!”
“Same!”
“Hey don’t monopolize! Let us try too!”
“Yes!”
At last many of them reluctantly left the pool.
After leaving, some of them wandered and heard a few tenants say,
“Hey did you check out the superpower awakener potion?”
“I did, and honestly I don’t feel much change.”
“Do you think it is a scam?”
“I feel so, after all, till now, none of the scientist has ever discovered a superpower awakening potion!”
“Exactly!”
“But why does Boss Su scam us? For money? If it is money then she could have easily increased the rent, she wouldn’t need any to scam us in this way.”
“Correct.”
“Or maybe Boss Su is scammed too?”
“That seems possible…”
