Chapter 442: Chapter 442: Rewards
The system went silent again. Su Jiyai could almost feel it trembling.

[W-Wait! Host, let me try again! Don’t be so hasty!]

“Hmph.” Su Jiyai crossed her arms and leaned back against the tree. “I’m serious this time. If he wants my farming space, then he better pay big. Or else… I’m not giving him a single thing.”

[Okay! Okay! Host, please give me five minutes! I’ll go beg the Admin again!]

Su Jiyai didn’t reply. She just closed her eyes and started meditating.

Her body still felt weak from earlier, but her spirit was fierce. She wasn’t going to back down—not this time.

Five minutes later…

[Host… the Admin agreed.]

Su Jiyai’s eyes slowly opened. “Oh? So fast?”

[He… said if you agree to give the farming space to Leticia, he’ll upgrade your system by one full rank. Also, he is ready to give 10 billion interstellar federal coins.]

“By one full rank… mean you will be on level 5?” Su Jiyai asked, her heart beating with excitement, yet she masked it with indifference.

[Yes, host. You can show your face too.]

“Hmm…” Su Jiyai didn’t say yes right away. She stared at the sky, thinking.

After a while, she asked, “Why does he want me to give the farming space to Leticia? What’s so special about her?”

[That… I don’t know, host.]

“Liar.”

[Really! I don’t know! I was only told to deliver the mission!]

Su Jiyai narrowed her eyes.

“Tell your admin I’ll give it to Leticia…as long as he or she tells the truth and give me some more rewards.”

The system let out a nervous beep.

[H-Host, you’re really scary when you’re like this…]

Su Jiyai didn’t respond. She just tilted her head slightly and tapped her finger against her knee.

“Go,” she said, her voice calm but firm. “I’m waiting.”

[Okay okay! I’ll go ask again! Just give me a moment!]

The system went silent again. Su Jiyai opened one eye and looked at the horizon.

The sun was rising now, spreading soft golden light over the forest. It looked peaceful… but her heart wasn’t.

She knew something was off.

Why Leticia? Why now? The Admin wouldn’t offer such a huge reward unless it was super important.

After a few minutes, the system came back, its voice sounding like it had just finished crying.

[Host… the Admin said he’ll add more rewards.]

Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".

Su Jiyai raised an eyebrow. “Go on.”

[You will get a full system upgrade to Level 5, 10 billion interstellar federal coins, and… a new special feature.]

“Special feature?” Su Jiyai asked, her tone suspicious.

[Yes. It is called the Discount Wheel. You will get the chance to spin the wheel each day and win discounts from 10% to 90% on any store purchase. Sometimes even free stuff!]

Su Jiyai blinked. “Free stuff?”

[Yes! But the chance is super low. Like… 0.01%. Still, it’s better than nothing! Right?]

She crossed her arms and tapped her finger again. “Hmm… sounds kinda fun.”

[Also, the wheel has random bonuses, too. Like cars and weapons.]

Now she was interested. She tried not to smile, but her lips twitched a little.

“So… Level 5 system, 10 billion coins, and Discount Wheel?”

[Yes! That’s everything! Oh! And the Admin also gave you a ‘Priority Question Ticket.’ You can ask him one question, and he must answer it truthfully.]

Su Jiyai’s eyes narrowed. “He better not lie.”

[He won’t! The ticket has a Truth Seal on it. He has to tell the truth, even if it’s super top secret!]

She stood up and dusted off her clothes.

“I want to use the question ticket.”

[What is your question, host?]

Su Jiyai smiled and asked slyly,

“Can you tell me who my parents are and what became of them?”

The question may seem simple, but in reality, it had three different questions in it.

With a ‘who’, Su Jiyai asked about her parents’ past and name.

With a ‘what became of them’ implied whether they were alive or not. And where are they right now?

Then, a soft mechanical ding echoed in Su Jiyai’s ears.

[Ding!Priority Question Ticket accepted.Truth Seal activated.Connecting to the Admin now…]

A few seconds passed.

Then, a deep voice answered. It wasn’t like the system’s voice. It sounded like a real person—but cold, distant, and full of power.

“As much as I want to answer your question, the problem lies with your parents’ request. They had requested me not to tell you anything about them.”

“My parents…” Su Jiyai muttered. “But why?”

“Unfortunately, I can’t answer. As compensation, I can double the Priority question ticket. You can ask two questions from me and I will answer them truthfully.”

Su Jiyai clenched her fist before asking,

“Why do you want to suppress my intelligence?”

The admin was silent for a while before answering with a chuckle,

“So the system still hasn’t told you?”

[Host, please don’t ask this question.]

“No, he hasn’t.” Su Jiyai ignored the system.

Admin chuckled,

“What a heart-touching system. I didn’t know it had feelings. Anyway, I can tell the truth. Rememeber the time when you binded with the system?”

“Yes.” Su Jiyai nodded.

“At that time, you were gravely injured. The most affected parts were your brain and spinal cord. You were going to die and only had a few breaths remaining.

Your system took a huge loan from the administrative department to stabilize your condition. Yet you weren’t healed.

Your brain was severely damaged. It could be said that after waking up, you would be nothing more than a mentally challenged person.

Su Jiyai’s eyes widened. Her heart started beating faster.

“…What?” she whispered.

[Host… I didn’t want to tell you like this…] the system’s voice was soft, almost like a guilty child.

The Admin kept speaking, his voice calm like he wasn’t dropping a bomb.

“Your system begged us. It said it didn’t care how much debt it had to take—just save your brain.

It offered all its upgrade chances, mission rights, and even its memory slots… just to buy a special healing chip.”

Su Jiyai’s lips trembled. She stared blankly at the sky.

“But the chip… wasn’t perfect,” the Admin said.

“It could heal your brain, but only by suppressing some functions—like your intelligence and emotional growth, till they are fully healed. Otherwise, your brain would overheat and shut down again.”

She covered her mouth with her hand. Her legs felt wobbly.

“You mean… I was supposed to be dumb? Like… like a vegetable?”

[Host… I-I didn’t want you to suffer. I thought it was better if you never knew…] the system said, its voice cracking.

The Admin snorted. “This is why I dislike emotional systems. So weak.”

“But I’m not dumb now,” Su Jiyai said slowly, her voice hoarse.

“No, you’re not. That’s because the system suppressed as much intelligence as it could. According to the system, you spit out blood just now.

It was because you were extremely agitated, and your brain was releasing chemicals at a high speed, which affected the chip and spit the blood.” Admin replied.

Su Jiyai sat down again, her knees finally giving out.

The forest around her was quiet, like even nature was holding its breath.

“Then… why didn’t you just tell me?”

[Host…you would have felt indebted toward me…I just…]

“Was this the reason why you found various ways to get points?” Su Jiyai asked, she had clenched her teeth tightly.

[Yes…] The system’s voice was low.

Su Jiyai sat there without saying anything. Her hands were clenched into fists, but they were shaking.

Her throat felt dry, and her heart was beating so loudly she thought it might explode.

The system didn’t say anything, either.

It was awkwardly quiet.

Finally, Su Jiyai whispered, “You’re dumb.”

[…Huh?]

“You could’ve told me. I wouldn’t be mad.” Her voice cracked.

“I would’ve… understood. I mean, it was my life. I had the right to know, didn’t I?”

[But host… I was scared. I didn’t want you to think I was using you or keeping secrets like the others.]

Su Jiyai let out a small sigh and looked at the sky again.

“I thought I was just lucky to survive. Turns out, I was saved… by you.” Her lips twitched into a weird smile.

“Even sold your memory slots, huh? Now that explains why you’re sometimes dumb.”

[Hey! That’s rude, host! I’m a very advanced system, okay!?]

“Sure, sure.” Su Jiyai wiped her eyes and stood up.

“Do you want to use your second ticket?” The Admin asked.

Su Jiyai shook her head,

“No.”

There was silence for a while before the Admin said,

“Alright then, I will disconnect.”

“You still haven’t told me why Leticia needs to have the space.” Su Jiyai asked.

“For that, you will need to use the ticket,” the Admin said.

“Maybe I was too dumb previously, and hence you are so confident that I will fall for your words. The person who desperately needs the farming space is not me, but you.” Su Jiyai said with a chuckle, which held no mirth.
