Chapter 461: Chapter 461: Change In Weather
The team finally reached near Crystal Cove base.
Everyone looked surprised. In front of them stood a big, beautiful base surrounded by tall blue metallic walls. The walls sparkled under the pale sunlight. But the thing that caught everyone’s attention wasn’t the wall.
It was the snow.
Thick white snow covered the land around the base like a soft blanket.
Didn’t Boss Su say that the weather around the crystal cove was different?
“Boss Su,” a base leader called out, raising his voice, “what exactly is this place? From which eye of yours did you see the temperature difference? I can’t feel anything special!”
“Haha!” Another man laughed. “Maybe Boss Su had a mirage. Or maybe, it’s the illusion old people get when they dream too much.”
The mocking laughter spread, and more people joined in. Some just stayed quiet, watching.
Admiral Ru walked forward and spoke in a calm but sharp tone.
“Well then. Since it’s now clear that Crystal Cove base is no different from any other base, Boss Su must keep her word and pay us all the promised food.”
Su Jiyai didn’t react right away. She just smiled faintly.
“What’s the rush?” she said lightly, tilting her head.
Admiral Ru frowned. “We’ve wasted enough time already. This mission is turning into a joke. The military and the alliance cannot afford delays.”
Several small base leaders nodded in agreement. “We should leave,” one said. “There’s nothing here.”
But Su Jiyai remained calm.
She commanded in her mind,
“Auxiliary AI, scan the area.”
Her voice was steady. The air buzzed as her AI began scanning everything around them.
General Liu, standing nearby, took a deep breath and stepped forward. His voice was loud and firm.
“Maybe…” he said, “someone planted the disc again.”
Everyone turned to look at him.
Even Su Jiyai looked shocked. She hadn’t expected him to say that. Her heart skipped a beat.
‘So he noticed,’ she thought to herself. ‘I knew the Devil’s pawn wouldn’t stay quiet. I didn’t break the disc early on because I thought they’d replace it before we arrived. And they did.’
General Dong gave General Liu a side glance and frowned—but strangely, he didn’t say anything to oppose him. For once, he stayed silent.
Admiral Ru, however, clenched his fists tightly. His voice was cold.
“Fine. We’ll wait then. Let’s see if Boss Su finds anything.”
His expression was too relaxed, too confident. Su Jiyai stared at him and suddenly felt something wasn’t right.
‘He’s hiding something…’ she thought. ‘He’s too sure of himself.’
Just then, the AI beeped.
[Ding! The location of the discs are found!]

But that wasn’t all.
A second alert popped up.
[ALERT: Multiple devices detected. Area surrounded by 112 discs. 3 are primary weather controllers. The rest are decoys.]
Su Jiyai raised her eyebrow.
‘So that’s why Admiral Ru is so confident,’ she realized. ‘He thought even if I find a disc, I won’t find all three of the real ones. If I break only one, the weather won’t change.’
Her fingers curled into a fist.
‘You want to play games with me, Admiral Ru?’ she thought. ‘Let’s see who wins.’
The biting wind swept past their cheeks as Su Jiyai stood at the forefront of the group, her eyes narrowed and lips curled in a subtle, unreadable smile.
“Is there anyone with an Earth superpower?” She asked.
One of the small base leaders raised his arm.
“Please dig here.” Su Jiyai would point at a location on the ground.
The man nodded and moved forward without hesitation.
He placed his palm gently on the snow-covered ground, his fingers twitching slightly as veins of energy pulsed through his arms.
With a rumble and soft cracking sounds, the ground shifted beneath them.
The snow parted, and the soil moved like stirred water. Within seconds, a smooth, round metallic disc emerged from the earth—glinting faintly under the pale sunlight.
A collective gasp rippled through the group.
Someone exclaimed, “It’s real… there’s actually something buried here!”
Another voice chimed in, skeptical, “Or maybe Boss Su planted it earlier to convince us.”
Su Jiyai didn’t acknowledge the accusation.
Her face remained calm, eyes fixed on the exposed disc.
Without a word, she turned to Qin Feng. “Guard this. Don’t let anyone touch it.”
“Yes, Boss,” Qin Feng replied with a respectful nod.
Without waiting for further discussion, Su Jiyai began walking toward the next location. The rest of the team followed, murmuring among themselves.
When they reached the second spot, she looked at the same Earth ability user and nodded again. He got to work, and within a minute, the second disc emerged from beneath the frozen earth.
More voices rose this time—confused, curious, a little uneasy.
“Are we going to spend the day digging up metal plates?”
“Maybe she buried them in a straight line just to make it look real.”
Su Jiyai ignored them all. Her expression remained composed. She turned to General Liu and said, “Guard this one.”
Liu Feng didn’t hesitate. “Understood.”
Then, for the third time, Su Jiyai led them toward the final location, her steps measured and silent.
The group trudged behind her, some still muttering sarcastic remarks.
When they reached the third spot, the ground was dug up once more, and again, a disc was revealed.
Someone scoffed, “Well, would you look at that. I suppose we’ll be harvesting discs for winter now.”
A few people chuckled. Su Jiyai didn’t even blink. She merely looked around and asked in a clear voice,
“Is there a poison-type ability user among us?”
A moment of silence passed. Then, a younger base leader raised his hand. “I am.”
“Good,” Su Jiyai said, her voice firm.
“When I burn this disc, inject your poison into it at the same time.”
The man nodded and walked up beside her.
Then, in a smooth, practiced motion, Su Jiyai raised her hand and summoned a controlled stream of flame.
It wasn’t overly bright, but it burned with intensity and precision.
The poison user conjured his ability, a viscous green substance swirling with toxic energy. Together, they released their powers onto the metallic disc.
What happened next was unexpected.
The fire licked the edges of the disc.
The poison sank into its grooves. But the metal didn’t instantly shatter or explode.
Instead, it began to melt slowly—almost unwillingly—like it was resisting destruction.
The surface warped, the disc emitting a faint hiss, and a strange light glimmered from deep within it.
Admiral Ru watched with an unreadable expression.
Internally, his heart twisted.
‘Please let this be a decoy, he thought. Don’t let it be one of the main three.’
And then—crack.
The disc split in half, sizzling softly.
But… nothing changed.
The snow still fell. The wind still howled.
A few of the small base leaders burst out laughing.
“Haha! I feel warmer already.”
“Someone bring me sunglasses. The snow is so bright—maybe the sun came out.”
One man dramatically rubbed his arms and said, “Wait, I think I’m sweating!”
Laughter echoed.
Su Jiyai smiled slightly, unfazed by their mocking. “If you’re so confident,” she said coolly, “how about we place a bet?”
The air stilled. The laughter died in their throats.
Everyone remembered yesterday.
Su Jiyai had single-handedly scammed Admiral Ru out of 20 billion federal coins with one simple bet.
No one was eager to repeat his mistake. A heavy silence fell across the group. No one dared to respond.
“Thought so,” she said with a smirk, already turning away.
She led the team back to the second disc.
Then she returned to the first disc. With Qin Feng standing guard, she raised her flames for the final time and motioned to the poison ability user, who nodded.
The disc cracked and burst, its core erupting into a flash of white light before going silent.
And that’s when it happened.
Someone gasped.
“Look!”
The snow… had stopped.
No more flakes fell from the sky. The stormy clouds above remained, but they no longer rained down ice and frost.
The ground was still covered in thick snow, but the air had shifted. No more gentle flurries danced in the breeze. It was as though the storm had been paused mid-breath.
Silence spread among the group like a wave.
“Sh*t! its true!”
And as if to prove those words, the story clouds’ color changed slowly, too.
“So extreme heat we had suffered wasn’t even real in the first place?”
“Boss Su was telling the truth all along?”
“F*ck, this face slap came too soon!”
“Boss Su, we are sorry for doubting your good intentions.”
“Indeed, you were just helping us, and we misunderstood you.”
Admiral Ru clenched his fist. He knew it was time to use plan B. With a gentle expression, he nodded and said,
“Boss Su, you were indeed saying the truth. Well, we can’t expect less from Boss Su, whose base could have a constant temperature all the time. What I am curious about is how you know about these discs? And who would plant such discs?”
