Chapter 462: Chapter 462: Misleading & Apology
Though his words sounded normal, from another point of view, he was telling everyone that Su Jiyai was the only one who could control the weather, for example, her base.

“Admiral Ru, if you want to say something, say it right on my face, don’t act like a white lotus.” Su Jiyai said with a chilling smile.

Few of the base leaders couldn’t help but chuckle hearing Su Jiyai’s words, but not many dared to show their inner feelings.

Someone even understood Admiral Ru’s hint and turned toward Su Jiyai, asking,

“Boss Su, Admiral Ru’s question is indeed valid. We don’t want to doubt you, but honestly, only your base has the technology to keep the temperature of your base constant. It is similar to these weather-changing discs.”

Su Jiyai burst into laughter, though her laughter held no mirth,

“I think you should learn physics a bit. Both of them are different. Even the principles they work on aren’t the same.

Yes, my base has constant temperature, but let me highlight, it doesn’t have constant weather.

It is protected from the outside temperature, not that the weather inside is manufactured or artificially manipulated.

The insulation system is designed to preserve the internal temperature by preventing heat exchange, which is entirely different from devices that alter atmospheric conditions over several kilometers.”

She paused, sweeping her gaze across the crowd, her voice gaining weight.

“Those discs didn’t just protect an area—they altered the entire environment. Snowfall, wind patterns, temperature gradients… all of it was fabricated.

That kind of interference requires weather-grade technology tied to atmospheric manipulation algorithms—something far beyond basic thermal insulation.”

Her tone sharpened, though her expression remained neutral.

“If you think my base has that kind of power, then thank you—I must be richer and more powerful than I thought.

But in that case, wouldn’t it make more sense for me to use that tech inside the base? Why would I want to harm bases that don’t have anything to offer me?”

A few people looked down, uncomfortable, realizing the flaw in the accusation.

Still, someone muttered, “Then how do you know about these discs?”

Su Jiyai didn’t hesitate.

“Because I study what threatens us.”

Her gaze turned cold.

“While some of you spend your time hoarding resources or playing politics, I invest in understanding our enemies. These discs were first discovered near Crystal Cove.

And you know the interesting part? I had already destroyed the disc, and weather had returned to its normal state, but suddenly today the disc returned.”

Su Jiyai’s words were clear. Someone from the alliance might be behind this.

Meaning the culprit was sitting in their group.

The tension in the room didn’t dissipate immediately after Su Jiyai’s words, but it had certainly shifted. A few of the smaller base leaders, clearly recognizing their miscalculation, stepped forward hesitantly.

“We apologize, Boss Su,” one of them said, voice low but earnest. “We spoke out of turn and judged too quickly.”

Others echoed similar sentiments, nodding in agreement, yet Su Jiyai remained unmoved.

She neither responded nor acknowledged them, letting their apologies hang awkwardly in the air.

Her silence was more deafening than any rebuttal—it was a wordless confirmation of their guilt and insignificance.

The leaders, aware of how they had mocked and doubted her repeatedly, began offering more than apologies.

“We’re willing to compensate,” a middle-aged man with sun-weathered skin declared. “In fact, if you’re willing, I can offer a portion of land near the northern ridge.”

“And I can give up the abandoned mineral fields to the east,” another chimed in quickly.

Su Jiyai, still calm and composed, finally spoke.

“If you’re sincere, then give me land. Resources and words can be taken back, but land is a promise carved into the earth itself.”

Many of the leaders, recognizing that their situation was dire and that aligning with Su Jiyai could be their best chance at survival, quickly nodded.

Some of them, more eager than the rest, hastily pledged land, no questions asked.

A few of them, hesitant but desperate, raised their hands and asked,

“Boss Su, can you lend us the machine to find the disc?”

Oh…so that was their motive.

Su Jiyai wasn’t disheartened, though. She was already expecting such a thing. Not to mention, if they could deal with the discs, the Deimos would lose a significant amount of control.

Was she going to everything for free, though? Nope!

“There is no such machine. It’s my instinct, I can help you all. But if you seek my help with this weather issue,” she continued, her voice cool, “know that I will not give you my assistance without cost. I’m not a charity. I can visit your bases, one by one, and help you, but I’ll be expecting something in return.”

There was a brief, uncomfortable silence, followed by a series of nods.

The leaders understood the unspoken implication of her words.

They were not simply being offered a solution—they were being given a chance to prove their worth, to show that they could meet her expectations.

“We are ready to pay the price!”

“We too!”

“Boss Su, we can pay up to 10 billion federal coins!”

Encouraged by their obedience, Su Jiyai’s expression relaxed. Then, she dropped the next revelation with calculated timing.

“For now, you can all rest. I’ve acquired Crystal Cove. It’s under my protection. You’ll be safe there.”

A murmur of surprise rippled through the crowd.

“You… acquired it?” someone asked, bewildered.

“I did,” she replied simply, turning away. “Follow me.”

As soon as Su Jiyai stepped forward, the wall responded with a deep hum, parting open like sliding gates. Gasps echoed behind her. No passcode, no scan—just her presence was enough.

The moment they entered, even the most stoic among the leaders stood frozen in disbelief.

The inside of Crystal Cove looked like a mirage—no, a memory from the old world.

Modern buildings rose cleanly in uniform symmetry.

Snack stalls with fresh, steaming food occupied street corners.

A brightly lit supermarket stood at the far end.

Across the street was a spa center with actual running water and steam drifting lazily from the windows.

Adjacent was a well-stocked weapon shop glowing with digital panels and weaponry lined up like art.

The roads were wide and smooth, flanked by grassy strips and small trees—actual trees.

Streetlights glowed faintly under a dim sky, and the air was clean, purified.

The entire atmosphere was worlds apart from the dusty, crumbling remnants they were used to.

“What… is this place?” someone whispered.

“It’s like we stepped into a dream…”

“It feels like… pre-apocalypse civilization.”

“Even before the Fall… my house wasn’t this good.”

Without a word, Su Jiyai turned and led them to one of the residential districts. She gestured toward rows of tall, gleaming buildings.

“Each of you may choose a room to stay in for tonight,” she said.

Hesitant, they stepped inside one by one.

And then, they were stunned all over again.

Every room was immaculately furnished. White and gold walls reflected soft ceiling lights.

A powerful fan rotated above, but for those who wanted more comfort, a functional AC and heater stood ready.

The bed had actual cotton sheets, clean and pressed, with a down comforter and pillows that seemed untouched by dust.

There was a small kitchen with a functioning stove, a fridge that hummed softly, and drawers full of neatly arranged utensils.

The attached bathroom had a showerhead, warm running water, and even shampoo. On one wall hung a television screen—a luxury that had vanished decades ago.

“My god… this is better than five-star hotels back then,” one murmured, stroking the smooth counter of the kitchen.

“I used to pay five thousand per night for a room like this, and it didn’t even come with this kind of warmth.”

“No rats, no cracks in the wall… even the air smells clean.”

They were speechless. Some sat on the couch as if afraid it would disappear. Others opened every drawer, flicked every switch, disbelieving.

For the first time in twenty years, they felt something foreign—comfort.

Seeing them enjoying themselves, Su Jiyai smiled.

Step 1 of her plan was done.

The only thing that can ever move a human’s heart is temptation. She was tempted to believe that luxury exists.

Just as Su Jiya had expected, within 30 minutes her first prey arrived and knocked on her door,

“Boss Su, can I come in?”

Su Jiyai was waiting for this moment, but she acted calm and said,

“Yes.”

The door was pushed open, and a woman in her late forties entered the room. She was the leader of a mid-size base named Dawn base.

“Hello, Boss Su, I am Ai Xiang. The base leader of the Dawn base. I want to ask if you can renovate our base like this. Money is not the problem.”

Su Jiyai smirked in her heart, but showed a troubled expression on her face and said,

“This… request is a bit difficult to execute. You see, the infrastructure, electricity, and even a constant water supply, I can only do it because it is my base.”
