Chapter 463: Chapter 463: Reluctance
Ai Xiang froze for a second, stunned by Su Jiyai’s answer.
“No alternative method?” she asked, her voice low, almost in disbelief.
Su Jiyai shook her head slowly, her expression hesitant, like she truly wished she could help more but was helpless.
Ai Xiang opened her mouth, then closed it again, lost in thought. After a few moments, she said hurriedly,
“Boss Su, if… if there is an alternative way, please tell me.”
Su Jiyai seemed to hesitate again, then sighed and spoke in a soft voice.
“There’s only one other way. I can recreate this kind of city for you… But only if I take full control of your base. Without that, it’s impossible. I can’t build such a place under someone else’s rule.”
Ai Xiang’s eyes widened, her face turning darker by the second. She stood up quickly, her hands clenched tightly.
“That’s not possible!” she said sharply. Her voice trembled, whether from anger or shock, it was hard to tell.
Without waiting for Su Jiyai to say anything else, Ai Xiang turned and stormed out of the room.
Su Jiyai didn’t chase after her. She leaned back in her chair, a small, knowing smile tugging at her lips.
This was exactly what she wanted.
She wasn’t in a hurry. Greed, once planted, grew faster than anyone expected.
Some would leave, holding on to their pride. Some would hesitate, thinking it over. And some… some would give up everything just for a chance to live like this again.
Sooner or later, they would come crawling back.
After sitting for a few minutes alone, Su Jiyai’s smile faded. She tapped her fingers on the table and spoke into her comms device.
“Auxiliary Ai, monitor Admiral Ru closely,” she ordered.
[Yes]
Not long after, Auxiliary Ai sent a notification. Su Jiyai tapped on it and watched through a hidden camera.
Admiral Ru was standing alone in the park area, away from most of the cameras and the busy crowd. He probably thought he was being careful, hidden among the tall fake trees and flower beds.
Unfortunately for him, Su Jiyai owned the entire base. Every inch of it.
She tapped into the audio feed easily.
Admiral Ru spoke into his communicator, his voice grim.
“We’ve failed again,” he said, grinding his teeth. “Boss Su is too smart.”
He paused, listening to whoever was on the other side.
Then his voice sharpened, filled with suspicion.
“I still don’t get it. How did she find the three temperature-control discs so precisely? Even after we planted decoys everywhere…”
The person on the other side must have said something because Admiral Ru’s expression turned even uglier.
“Plan B failed too,” he said bitterly. “Should I move to Plan C?”
Another pause.

Admiral Ru’s shoulders slumped slightly, and he gave a low grunt. “Understood. I’ll wait. I won’t rush.”
He lowered his head and asked quietly, “When’s the next meeting?”
A short silence followed. Then Admiral Ru cursed under his breath and said, “Fine.”
Su Jiyai’s eyes narrowed as she listened. But the next words made her heart freeze.
“Has HQ’s plan started moving?” Admiral Ru asked, glancing around the park.
After hearing a reply, Admiral Ru’s next words made Su Jiyai sit up straighter.
“Are they really going to kidnap the vegetable girl this time?”
Vegetable girl?
Su Jiyai’s mind raced.
There was only one person who could grow fresh vegetables. Huo Ning. And it just happened that she was a girl too.
Her face darkened.
If HQ was planning to kidnap Huo Ning, then things were even worse than she thought.
Admiral Ru spoke again, sounding eager.
“And the main plan? It’s starting in two weeks, right?”
Apparently, he got a positive answer, because for the first time in the conversation, Admiral Ru smiled coldly.
“I can’t wait,” he said, his voice thick with greed.
He laughed quietly and said, “Once it’s over, I want Boss Su’s base.”
There was a short silence again. It sounded like the other person had asked why he wanted it.
Admiral Ru sneered, his face twisted. “Because I want revenge,” he said.
But Su Jiyai, watching from her hidden cameras, saw it clearly. It wasn’t about revenge. It was greed.
He wanted her base. He wanted everything she had built.
Su Jiyai’s expression was cold as ice.
After hanging up, Admiral Ru casually strolled through the artificial park, his eyes gleaming with hunger. He looked at the neat roads, the shining buildings, the lush green strips of land as if he already owned them.
Disgusting.
After a while, Auxiliary AI reported that it was time to leave.
But when Su Jiyai arrived at the gathering point, she couldn’t help but smile coldly.
No one wanted to leave.
They stood around awkwardly in the spacious hallways, dragging their feet like kids who didn’t want to leave a playground.
Some of them sat back down on the fancy couches, pretending they didn’t hear the announcement.
Others kept opening the fridge, turning on the taps, touching the soft beds, checking the warm showers again and again.
As if memorizing every detail.
“It’s too good here,” one muttered under his breath.
“Can’t we stay just one more night?” another whispered to his companion.
“This is heaven compared to our broken bases…”
“I don’t even want to go back to my own home…”
“If I stay just a few more hours, will Boss Su kick me out?”
The thought of returning to their cold, cracked, rat-infested bases made their hearts sink.
They had gotten a taste of real comfort for the first time in years. And now… they didn’t want to let go.
Some base leaders even whispered plans to move their entire bases under Su Jiyai’s protection if possible.
Su Jiyai watched silently, her arms crossed, a cool smile on her lips.
Step 2 of her plan was almost complete.
A few leaders quietly phoned their other representative, whispering,
“Start making plans. See if there’s a way to cooperate with Boss Su.”
They all realized something at that moment.
Their old bases, broken and freezing and dusty, were nothing compared to this paradise.
If they went back, it would feel like returning to a graveyard.
Some younger leaders even clutched the doorway frames, as if they could hold on to the luxury longer.
Some old men sighed deeply, heavier than the weight of years on their backs.
Slowly, reluctantly, the group began moving toward the gates, their hearts heavy.
It wasn’t just the beauty of Crystal Cove they were leaving behind.
It was the feeling of safety, hope, and dignity that had been missing from their lives for so long.
Many glanced back again and again as they walked away, the dreamlike lights reflecting in their eyes.
…………………..
The meeting at Rover Base was filled with a heavy silence.
With the testimonies of the 20 base leader and one official leader, it would be confirmed that Boss Su’s words were true.
Leader Pei, Leader Shi, General Dong, General Liu, Jin Sang, Doctor Min, Admiral Ru, and Governor Lei all sat stiffly at the long table, their faces serious.
The other base leaders and important figures filled the big hall, sitting quietly, waiting for the decision.
Finally, Leader Pei stood up and cleared his throat.
“We have no choice,” he said, his voice firm. “There are definitely temperature control discs hidden.”
Everyone nodded, some reluctantly.
“But the problem is,” Jin Sang said with a frown, “only Boss Su can find those discs. The rest of us… We don’t even know where to start looking.”
A long silence followed. Some leaders shifted uncomfortably in their seats.
Then, slowly, the eight official alliance members — Leader Pei, Leader Shi, General Dong, General Liu, Jin Sang, Doctor Min, Admiral Ru, and Governor Lei — stood up.
One by one, they lowered their heads slightly and apologized to Su Jiyai.
“We doubted you,” General Liu said, his voice low. “We were wrong.”
“We hope you can help us,” Governor Lei added, a bit stiffly.
Su Jiyai stood calmly at the front, her arms crossed. She looked at them for a long time without speaking.
Finally, she smiled — but it wasn’t a warm smile.
“A single ‘sorry’ can’t give me anything,” she said lightly, her voice calm but sharp.
The leaders looked at each other awkwardly, realizing what she meant.
Leader Shi was the first to speak up. “I can give you land,” he offered quickly, as if trying to fix the mistake.
But Su Jiyai just shook her head.
“No,” she said, smiling wider. “I want people.”
Everyone blinked, stunned.
“Citizens or superhumans. In exchange for my help.”
The hall exploded into whispers.
“Isn’t that… strange?” someone whispered.
“She wants citizens? Why not land or resources?” another murmured.
“Can’t you change the request a little, Boss Su?” Leader Pei asked, trying to sound polite.
Su Jiyai shrugged casually. “That’s my request. You don’t have to agree. I’m not the one desperate.”
The leaders exchanged nervous glances. They huddled together, whispering and discussing fiercely.
