Chapter 464: Chapter 464: Soul Energy
After a few minutes, Leader Pei turned back and asked carefully, “How many citizens do you want?”
Su Jiyai smiled again, almost sweetly.
“Five hundred,” she said.
The leaders let out a breath of relief. It wasn’t much. Five hundred wasn’t even one-tenth of their whole bases. Most bases had tens of thousands of people.
Compared to losing everything, giving away five hundred citizens was a small price.
“We agree,” Leader Pei said firmly.
The others nodded one after another.
Inwardly, Su Jiyai was thrilled. More than seventy base leaders were here today. If she got 500 people from each base, her mid-sized base would explode into a true large-scale power overnight.
And whether the people were superhumans or not didn’t matter.
After all, she had superpower awakening potions.
This was a chance no one else could dream of.
After they officially agreed, Su Jiyai smiled politely, made a few promises about “cooperation,” and left with Qin Feng.
Once outside, she and Qin Feng quickly made plans for the next day.
The next morning, Su Jiyai contacted Leader Pei.
“I want to distribute relief food to your citizens,” she said.
“Could I, Boss Su, why are you doing it?” Leader Pei asked tentatively.
After 3 days of knowing each other, Leader Shi understood that staying on Boss Su’s side was the best for him and his base.
“Your food supplies were stolen, and though this matter has nothing to do with me, I can’t bear to see your citizens suffer. Not to mention, I believe in doing charity work.” Su Jiyai replied in a serious voice.
Leader Pei immediately agreed, touched by her “kindness.”
“Boss Su, you’re truly generous,” he said emotionally. “I’ll lend you my best subordinates to help. I’ll remember this favor forever.”
Su Jiyai smiled faintly. “No need. I’m just doing what I can.”
Later that day, Su Jiyai set up a small stall in the central square of Rover Base.
Leader Pei’s subordinates used microphones to announce loudly:
“Attention! Boss Su is giving out FREE food today! Everyone, please line up! One portion per person!”
The citizens passing by froze where they stood.
For a second, they thought they had heard wrong.
Free food?
In the apocalypse?
Was that even possible?
Some thought it would be just watery porridge — maybe a bowl of hot water with a few grains of rice floating inside.

But still, it was better than nothing.
Within minutes, a long line formed.
People of all ages — old men, young mothers, kids with hollow cheeks — lined up carefully, their eyes full of hope.
Su Jiyai stood to the side, dressed simply, blending into the crowd.
She watched as each person came forward and received a portion.
But when they saw what it was —Cup Noodles.
Bright, colorful, and real instant cup noodles.
The citizens were stunned. Some almost dropped the cup in shock.
“Is this real?” a young man whispered, turning the cup in his hands like it was made of gold.
“My God,” an old woman gasped, tears filling her eyes. “One of these costs more than ten million federal coins now…”
“This… this could feed my whole family for a week…!”
Soon, voices of disbelief, joy, and gratitude filled the air.
“Thank you, Boss Su!”
“Boss Su is a real angel!”
“I can’t believe it… real food… real food!”
Some even knelt down to thank the sky.
Su Jiyai stayed silent, her expression calm. Their thanks didn’t move her.
She wasn’t here to be a saint.
Her eyes scanned the crowd again and again, searching.
She was looking for someone.
The child from yesterday.
Her brother…where was he?
But even as the morning passed into noon, and noon passed into evening…She didn’t see him.
Her smile slowly faded.
She stayed by the stall the whole time, leaning against a wall, arms folded, pretending to be just another helper.
Morning sunlight turned harsh and bright.
Noon heat made the ground shimmer.
Evening breeze cooled the air and made people shiver a little.
Suddenly, Su Jiyai received a prompt,
[Soul Energy Low. Would you like to transfer yours?]
Soul Energy? Low? What was the system saying?
Su Jiyai’s brows furrowed,
“What do you mean?”
However, the system she had was an auxiliary AI and not the main system.
Su Jiyai decided to ignore it.
However, the prompts became even more and more irritating.
[Soul Energy Low. Would you like to transfer yours?]
[Soul Energy Low. Would you like to transfer yours?]
[Soul Energy Low. Would you like to transfer yours?]
At last irritated, Su Jiyai said,
“Yes,”
She didn’t know what this Soul Energy was; all she cared about was her brother.
[Energy transfer commencing….energy transfer completed.]
The moment those words echoed in Su Jiyai’s ears, she felt a force draining her energy. Her legs wobbled and she almost fell on the ground.
However, she quickly recovered and sat on a chair nearby, muttering,
“What the hell…what happened just now…”
The slight cold breeze turned into a freezing breeze as the orange light faded.
Still, there was no sign of her brother.
Su Jiyai’s heart felt strangely heavy.
Where was he?
She kicked a small stone on the ground, her mind restless.
Just as Su Jiyai was about to pack up, a loud noise broke out near the end of the line.
Su Jiyai quickly turned toward the noise.
A small crowd had gathered at the end of the line. People were muttering angrily, shaking their heads.
“Kids these days,” an old man said, clicking his tongue. “No manners at all.”
“Yeah,” a woman added sharply. “They don’t know how hard their parents work to give them a safe life! And still, they talk back without any shame.”
“If I had a son like that,” another person said with a cold laugh, “I would cry myself to sleep. Imagine calling your own father a kidnapper and saying he’s part of some dirty organization! Such a disgrace.”
Their words made Su Jiyai frown. Her heart started pounding hard against her chest.
A bad feeling rose in her gut.
“Let me see,” she said firmly, stepping forward.
When the people turned and saw it was Boss Su — the same Boss Su who had given them free food today — they quickly made way for her, their faces full of flattery.
“Boss Su! You’re so kind! We’re truly touched by your generosity!” an old woman from earlier said, bowing slightly.
Su Jiyai waved her hand without much care. She didn’t come here to be praised.
Pushing through the small crowd, she finally reached the center of the commotion.
There, sitting on the ground with dirt on his knees and fists clenched tightly, was a small boy no more than five years old.
His clothes were dusty. His little face was red, half from anger, half from holding back tears.
But even as he trembled slightly, he raised his chin stubbornly, refusing to cry in front of the angry adults.
Su Jiyai stared at him, her heart aching.
It was the boy from yesterday.
The moment her eyes locked on him, a familiar, strange warmth spread in her chest.
And then—
[Ding! Congratulations, host, for finding her brother. Do you want to fuse the soul of your brother?]
A faint, glowing prompt floated in front of her eyes, only visible to her.
Su Jiyai’s breath caught.
She barely heard the crowd around her anymore. Her whole focus was on the boy.
Her brother.
Her real family.
The one she had been searching for without even knowing it.
The boy looked up at her, his big, bright eyes meeting hers. In his eyes, there was no fear — only a tired sort of stubbornness, like he had been fighting the whole world on his own for a long time.
……………
5 hours before.
Madam Queen was dealing with matters when she would turn toward her subordinate and ask,
“How is that boy now?”
“Replying to Madam Queen, he has fainted from hunger and won’t wake up, no matter what.” The subordinate standing beside her answered, his tone filled with respect and caution.
Madam Queen paused for a mere moment before a cruel smile appeared on her face, and she ordered him,
“Wake him up and don’t let him sleep. Ah! And don’t we have a new injection that we want to test? Go and experiment on him.”
The subordinate bowed and rushed off to follow Madam Queen’s orders.
In a dark, cold room deep inside a laboratory, the boy was lying on the floor, curled up tightly like a little ball. His body was thin, his breathing weak.
Soon, heavy footsteps echoed down the hallway. Two men entered the room, carrying a small syringe filled with a strange glowing liquid.
One of them kicked the boy lightly with the toe of his boot.
“Hey, wake up,” he said harshly.
The boy didn’t respond.
The man frowned and bent down, shaking the boy’s thin shoulders roughly. “I said, wake up!”
Still nothing.
The other man snorted. “Forget it. Let’s just inject him already. Madam Queen said to experiment anyway.”
