Chapter 483: Chapter 483: Seven Devils And Devil
Elisha smiled, a sharp smile full of secrets. “See? I break people better than anyone else.”

The Prophet chuckled again. “You really do.”

Two hours later, both of them were dressed in black cloaks.

The hoods covered their faces, and they moved like shadows through the dark hallway.

Elisha adjusted her gloves. “Do you think HQ will be finished today?”

The Prophet nodded.

“Most likely. He’s failed three times. The girl who grows vegetables… she’s more important than she looks.”

Elisha’s voice turned colder.

“He should’ve brought her in already. That girl’s the reason people still have hope. And hope is dangerous.”

“Anyways, let’s teleport to where Devil is. Being late is equal to the death penalty.” The Prophet said.

Soon they reached the open ground. In the center was a throne on which the real Devil was sitting.

Behind the throne were seven white pillars, creating the contrast.

The figure on the throne.

His black cloak shimmered like liquid shadow, but no matter how hard anyone looked, his face could never be seen. It was like looking into a void.

Even Elisha, who wasn’t scared of anything, didn’t dare stare too long.

One by one, the Devils entered the room. Each stood near one of the glowing pillars. Their pawns followed and stood behind them in silence.

Madam Queen stood behind Elisha, her face calm but her fingers twitching slightly.

Admiral Ru stood behind a devil known as Crow. Crow’s cloak had feathers on it, and his voice always echoed like a thousand birds.

The Prophet, who stood quietly, his red cloak barely moving.

Scythe, a devil with a long silver weapon on his back. His pawn was a blind girl with white hair named Whisper.

Ashen, a devil who always smelled like smoke and fire. His pawn was a scarred man called Burner.

Veil, a devil covered in gauze and silk, never showing any skin. Her pawn was a girl named Doll, who wore a porcelain mask.

And finally, HQ, the last to arrive. His pawn wasn’t with him. He walked in alone, trembling.

All the Devils faced the throne.

The room grew even colder.

The figure on the throne spoke, his voice low and powerful. It echoed through the air.

“Give your monthly reports. Begin.”

Elisha stepped forward, her cloak swaying.

“I have created a potion,” she said. “When people drink it or inject it, they awaken a superpower. Fire, ice, lightning… whatever their bodies match with.”

“But,” she added, smiling, “the potion also makes them loyal to me. The pain of awakening is so strong, they beg for help. And I give it.”

She looked proud.

“The only side effect is… madness, in some cases. Some people lose control and go wild. But we’re working on fixing that.”

She turned serious.

“However… Boss Su destroyed one of our main research buildings. Madam Queen’s lab. We lost a lot of work and data.”

The figure on the throne went silent for a moment.

Then he nodded slowly. “Boss Su will pay the price.”

Elisha bowed and stepped back.

Next, Crow walked forward.

“The military districts are under our control,” Crow said. “We have spies in every bunker and every survivor base.”

Admiral Ru added,

“We even control their food routes. If we shut it down for one day, millions will starve.”

The figure on the throne nodded again.

Then the Prophet stepped forward.

“My visions say the Light of the World is moving. But I am tracking her. The faith in hope is growing, but we are placing false prophets to twist it.”

He stepped back without another word.

Scythe followed. His voice was rough.

“We’ve started training children to become future soldiers. Or monsters. Whichever we need.”

Whisper, his pawn, said quietly, “They don’t cry anymore.”

Ashen went next.

“We’ve been burning safe zones. One by one. Making the survivors think it’s natural. No one suspects us.”

His pawn, Burner, nodded. “And we leave only ash behind.”

Veil followed. Her voice was soft like wind.

“We control entertainment. Music. Stories. All of it now tells people to obey, to be scared, or to forget.”

Doll didn’t speak. She just tilted her head slowly.

And then… it was HQ’s turn.

He walked up slowly, his knees shaking.

He looked around.

Everyone was staring.

Even the figure on the throne.

HQ swallowed hard.

“I-I’m sorry, but… the vegetable girl… we still haven’t caught her. She hardly leaves Boss Su’s base…”

Silence.

He looked up. “Please! Just give me a bit more time! She—”

The figure on the throne lifted one hand.

Everyone stepped back.

“No—wait!” HQ screamed. “Please! I can fix it! I—”

His body froze.

Then began to shake.

Black smoke poured out of his eyes and mouth.

His skin cracked. His bones twisted.

He screamed, loud and long.

Then he was silent.

His body turned into ash and scattered on the floor.

No one moved.

The throne room was silent again.

The figure on the throne finally spoke.

“Failure… is not allowed.”

All the pawns looked down.

The Devils nodded.

“Let this be a lesson,” the figure continued. “The world is on the edge. We must push it over.”

He looked at Elisha, though no one could see his eyes.

“Find the girl who grows vegetables.”

Everyone was about to leave.

The Devils turned, their cloaks sweeping the floor like waves of darkness. Their pawns followed behind, quiet as ghosts.

But just as they reached the exit, the figure on the throne lifted his hand again.

Everyone froze.

“Madam Queen,” the voice said, smooth but sharp like a knife. “Stay.”

Elisha stopped walking.

So did Madam Queen.

She slowly turned around, her lips slightly parted.

“Yes, my Lord?” she asked, trying to sound calm.

The figure on the throne leaned forward a little, though no one could still see his face.

“Tell me,” he said. “Do you feel any… strange energy inside your body lately?”

Madam Queen blinked.

Her fingers twitched again.

She gave a small smile. “No, my Lord. I feel completely fine.”

Silence.

Then the Devil chuckled.

It was soft.

But it made the air colder.

“Interesting,” he said. “You are the fifth person to lie to me.”

Madam Queen’s smile disappeared.

Elisha shuddered.

She took a small step back.

Her hand clenched into a fist.

The memory came fast—blood, screaming, someone begging for mercy, and then nothing but darkness.

The Devil’s voice echoed again.

“Do you know what happened to the first four who lied to me, Madam Queen?”

Madam Queen’s mouth opened, but no words came out.

“They didn’t live very good lives,” the Devil whispered.

“I… I…” she stammered.

But the Devil raised a hand again, silencing her.

“However,” he said, leaning back on his throne, “I am feeling generous today.”

Everyone looked up, surprised.

Even Crow tilted his head.

The Devil looked at her.

“I will give you… one more chance,” he said. “Only one. Now, tell me the truth.”

Madam Queen’s knees shook.

Slowly, she knelt down, lowering her head.

Her voice was small now. Shaky.

“I… I was lying, my Lord,” she said.

“I thought so,” the Devil said calmly. “Continue.”

Madam Queen took a deep breath.

She looked at the floor.

“It started after I escaped from Boss Su’s subordinates,” she said. “I was running, hiding, injured… but I made it back.”

She touched her chest.

“But then… something changed. I don’t know why, but… sometimes… I feel like I’m not me.”

Everyone was silent again.

Elisha didn’t say anything, but her eyes were fixed on Madam Queen.

The Devil chuckled again.

“Not you?” he said. “How interesting.”

“I’ll be walking,” Madam Queen continued, “and then suddenly… I’ll feel like someone else is watching from inside me. Like I’m a puppet. Sometimes I even forget what I was doing.”

Her voice dropped.

“Just one hour ago, I looked into a mirror and… it wasn’t my reflection that looked back.”

Whisper gasped softly.

The Devil leaned forward again.

“That… is because another soul is residing in you.”

Madam Queen’s eyes widened.

“A… another soul?” she whispered.

“Yes,” the Devil said. “A second soul. One that entered your body without permission.”

He stood slowly from his throne.

The shadows clung to him like they were scared to let go.

“You were touched by something,” he said. “Something… powerful. Probably when you ran from Boss Su.”

Madam Queen’s lips trembled.

“But don’t worry, I will deal with it for you.” The Devil would reply in a rare good mood.

All the other devils would be stunned.

(Note: Devils have their own name, while the person on the throne is named as Devil. Please don’t get confused.)

Why was the monster, like the Devil, suddenly so generous?

If someone ever made a mistake before, they would be dead or have a destiny worse than death.

But today, the Devil not only forgives but also is ready to help someone? This was something new and never thought of.

“You must be curious, right?” The Devil asked with mirth in his voice, “Because I finally know who is the Light of the World.”
