Chapter 141: Experimenting with Robots
Ahem!
Alex coughed twice from the thick smoke.
Mia and Olivia laughed while patting his back gently.
Soon, the smoke cleared away.
The three could finally see the true appearance of the combat robot.
Standing before them was a two-meter-tall robot, entirely black, with a distinctive style.
Just then, the eyes of the combat robot suddenly lit up with a soft blue light.
Then, it knelt in front of Alex.
Its movements were agile and fluid, nothing like a robot, more like a living being.
“My master, I am your combat robot, ready to obey your commands! Please give me a name!”
Alex thought for a moment, glanced in the direction they came from, and said, “We came from City 22, so I’ll call you Twenty-Two.”
The combat robot’s eyes shimmered with a faint blue light as it said, “Yes, my master, Twenty-Two has remembered its name.”
Mia and Olivia burst into laughter, shaking with amusement.
This combat robot was just too obedient!
Alex scratched his head.
Twenty-Two, just Twenty-Two!
Next, to test Twenty-Two’s combat abilities, after the acid rain stopped, he took Twenty-Two out of the armored vehicle to find zombies nearby.
For this purpose, he equipped Twenty-Two with two critical-hit katanas and a submachine gun.
Although Twenty-Two’s fighting style was still unknown, since it was combat, weapons were necessary.
Alex and Twenty-Two walked through the damp forest after the rain.
The zombies didn’t seem to detect their presence.
Normally, this would undoubtedly be very lucky.
But now, Alex was here to test Twenty-Two’s combat abilities.
Helplessly, he had to fire a shot into the air to attract the zombies’ attention.
However, there was a downside to doing this.
It would attract a lot of zombies.
Numerous zombies quickly ran towards them.
Even in the suburbs of City 25, the scale of the zombies far exceeded that of the old urban areas of City 22.
It’s no wonder the survivors of City 25 always looked down on them; there were reasons for that.
“Twenty-Two, let’s go. Let me see your strength.”

Alex put on his combat suit and patted Twenty-Two’s shoulder.
Then he stepped aside.
Twenty-Two respectfully said, “Yes, my master.”
Then, Twenty-Two’s eyes suddenly changed from blue to red.
“Activate combat mode!”
The thrusters behind Twenty-Two suddenly started, propelling him towards the zombies.
With just one punch, he smashed the zombie’s head!
Damn!
Alex was both shocked and delighted.
This punch from Twenty-Two directly showed him the formidable strength of the combat robot.
Even he himself might not be able to do that.
Next, Twenty-Two took out two critical-hit katanas.
The thrusters behind him increased power output, propelling him into the midst of the zombies.
Human strength might wane, but not that of combat robots.
They only obeyed their master’s commands strictly, until they were destroyed.
Twenty-Two wielded the dual katanas skillfully, moving through the zombies as if they were nothing.
Swish!
Truly worthy of a platinum-level combat robot.
The critical-hit katanas were expertly thrown like darts, pinning two zombies fiercely to the trees.
Then, Twenty-Two leaped into the air, hovering mid-flight as the thrusters unfolded.
At that moment, Alex felt something strange.
This scene seemed familiar.
The thrusters behind Twenty-Two gradually charged up, emitting a dazzling white light.
Then, with a loud boom, the tip of the thruster emitted a laser cannon, incinerating the zombies.
Leaving only a trail of destruction in its wake.
Alex muttered, “Damn, it’s really ‘Wings of Light Unfurl’!”
Twenty-Two slowly descended from the air.
The sunlight shone on him, making his black body appear even more mysterious and powerful.
It gave the impression that he wasn’t just a combat robot but a demonic god.
The red light in Twenty-Two’s eyes gradually faded away, switching back to the usual blue light, and he exited combat mode.
Then, he walked to Alex’s side and respectfully said, “Master, the zombies have been cleared. Please inspect.”
“You, this ‘Wings of Light Unfurl’—no, this laser fired from behind, what’s it called? It’s very powerful!”
Alex was very satisfied with Twenty-Two’s efficiency but was more curious about the laser cannon behind Twenty-Two.
Twenty-Two responded, “Master, this is an energy burst that we combat robots have equipped ourselves. It charges every forty-eight hours, and then it can emit a laser from the thruster nozzle behind. It doesn’t have a name. However, what you said, ‘Wings of Light Unfurl,’ is quite fitting.”
Alex nodded.
So that’s how it was.
He had previously thought that such a powerful attack method must have certain conditions.
Charging every two days to obtain a small laser cannon shot—clearly, it was worthwhile!
Seeing Twenty-Two’s formidable combat output, Alex finally understood why combat robots belonged to the platinum level of resources.
This was definitely a powerful ally!
He also decided not to put the blueprints on the trading platform for the time being.
Right now, this thing was still too powerful!
Putting it on the trading platform would only enhance the strength of other survivors, potentially cultivating future enemies.
When more resources of platinum level or above became less rare in the future, then he would reconsider.
After the ground zombies were wiped out, Alex immediately returned.
The commotion caused by Twenty-Two just now was significant. Continuing to stay would inevitably lead to a fierce battle with the zombies that kept arriving.
Now, he had no such plans.
Zombies were everywhere; why waste time here?
Mia and Olivia were chatting leisurely.
Seeing Alex return, Mia asked excitedly, “Alex, how’s the test result? Is Twenty-Two’s combat power good?”
Olivia leaned towards Mia, making room for Alex.
“Sit and tell us.”
Alex sat between the two women.
Twenty-Two stood like a statue at the armored vehicle’s door after Alex sat down, motionless.
Alex said, “The combat robot’s strength far exceeds our expectations.”
When the combat robot was first manufactured, the three of them had only imagined that it might be suitable for security tasks like close combat.
They never expected it to have such terrifying destructive power.
Mia curiously asked, “How did it exceed expectations? Is it really strong? Stronger than us with guns and grenades?”
Olivia blinked and looked at Twenty-Two, clad in unscathed black armor, thoughtfully.
Alex shook his head, and said seriously, “His close combat ability is indeed formidable, but, you don’t know, the thruster device behind him is actually a laser cannon launching device!”
Mia and Olivia quickly looked over.
Looking at the thrusters behind him, resembling wings, they only thought they looked nice.
They didn’t expect that these big wings actually concealed such a deadly weapon.
