Chapter 147: Arrival at East City District
“Let’s go.”
Alex, accompanied by Mia and Olivia, was about to leave.
Since they had already tested the power of the special herbicide, there was naturally no need to linger.
Continuing on their journey was the priority.
At this moment, Nelson suddenly spoke up.
“Boss, may I ask your name?”
Alex paused his steps, without looking back, he replied, “I’m no boss, just A…L…E…X–Alex.”
Then, the three of them left.
Nelson watched Alex and his companions disappear into the distance, his eyes filled with longing.
“Alex, huh…”
Alex’s group continued their journey to the East City District.
Little did they know, news of their ability to eliminate mutant plants had spread throughout the entire survivor community.
On the chat channel, Nelson was fervently advocating.
Nelson: “Talk about being quick on the draw! Alex pulled out his Energy Pulse Sword and went straight for the mutant plant, like a move from a martial arts novel! Then, he used his lightness skill and flew straight towards the roots of the mutant plant…”
Steven: “Are you telling stories here? That’s too fake!”
Joshua: “Alex? Is it the Alex from our City No. 22? If it’s him, then it’s not surprising.”
Brian: “Give me a break! Mutant plants are so strong, even if you’re Superman, it’s useless. This is something those big teams have already confirmed.”
Nelson: “Hey, this is exactly what I’m about to tell you. So, Alex flew straight to the roots of the mutant plant, and the vines of the mutant plant lunged at him. Guess what happened next?”
Kevin: “Just say it already!”
Zoe: “Yeah, yeah, what’s the point of keeping us in suspense? We might as well stop listening.”
The crowd was very dissatisfied.
Nelson grumbled, “Damn it, I didn’t ask you to pay.”
But he continued to send messages.
Nelson: “After Alex was wrapped up by the vines, I couldn’t see what happened inside, but, after about ten seconds, the mutant plant actually withered and died!”
Andrews: “Hilarious, even if you’re making up stories, they should still be based on facts, right? Everyone knows mutant plants can’t be killed, and you’re still bragging about it. Bro, you’re exaggerating.”
Kenneth: “Exactly! Boring, I thought it was going to be something amazing, but it turns out it’s just a mindless exaggeration.”
Nelson, feeling frustrated, directly posted the photo he took of the dead mutant plant at that time.
“Did the mutant plant die or not?”
But by now, no one was willing to pay attention to him.
Nelson: “Come back! Look, did the mutant plant die or not? Did it?”

Nelson had no idea that his casual action had brought Alex to the attention of the leaders of City No. 25’s various major teams.
In an exquisite villa, James looked at the chat channel. When he saw the two words “Alex” posted by Nelson, he knew for sure that it was him.
So, he’s finally here?
It seems he’s heading towards the East City District.
Hehe, Alex, I can’t wait to see you…
James laughed hysterically.
He had waited so many days, it felt like an eternity.
Now, he finally got Alex.
He was going to give him a big surprise.
…
East City District.
A mature and handsome man sat silently on a chair, digesting the explosive information just received.
Someone can actually eliminate mutant plants?
Such talent must be recruited, and must not fall into the hands of the Legion of Glory!
If given to his competitors, it wouldn’t just be a boost, but a substantial advantage.
Being able to deal with mutant plants was incredibly rare for the survivors now.
East City District.
An abandoned training ground.
A muscular man in casual combat attire, with healthy wheat-colored skin and a vibrant spirit, sat in the command room, staring at the information on the chat channel.
“Alex, being able to eliminate mutant plants, hmm, not simple at all,” the muscular man sighed.
A soldier beside him spoke up, “Captain, we still can’t confirm whether this Alex can really eliminate mutant plants. Who knows if it’s fake?”
The muscular man was Skylar, the leader of one of City No. 25’s two major survivor teams, the Legion of Glory.
Skylar shook his head.
“The system’s chat channel can’t be faked. It’s not like the old world where you could photoshop and change genders to confuse people.”
“Since it’s already been posted, and the mutant plant has indeed died, it means it’s not just empty talk.”
The soldier asked, “Captain, what should we do? Should we recruit Alex?”
Skylar nodded.
“It’s necessary. We can’t let Spectrum Squad recruit him. Now, no one else can deal with mutant plants except Alex. He’s like walking money!”
The soldier spoke solemnly, “Captain, I’ll inform the team below to keep a close watch on the comings and goings in the East City area these few days. As soon as we spot anyone suspicious resembling Alex, I’ll report it immediately!”
Skylar trusted his capable subordinate implicitly. This soldier was one he had personally trained back in the old world—a smart thinker who could adapt to any situation.
“Good, I leave this matter to you. I trust you to handle it,” Skylar said.
“Yes, sir!” the soldier exclaimed.
Immediately, he exited the command room, rallying troops and assigning tasks.
Meanwhile, an armored vehicle entered the jurisdiction of the East City district.
Seeing the sign indicating the 25th City East District finally appear, Alex breathed a sigh of relief.
“After days of driving, long journeys, we’ve finally arrived,” he remarked.
Mia chuckled. “I really don’t understand how those people in the old world used to drive across the country for leisure. We’re exhausted just driving through one city.”
Olivia laughed, “Mia, those people in the past had money for leisure. We’re driving for our lives, encountering all sorts of dangers along the way. How could we possibly enjoy the pleasure of road trips?”
As Olivia pointed out, road trips are suitable for those without burdens who can enjoy themselves freely. But for someone who works every day and thinks about unfinished work even when on a road trip, how could they possibly feel happy? They would only feel tired.
Alex set the armored vehicle to autopilot mode and stretched lazily. “Once we arrive, let’s find a good Feng Shui villa to stay in and have a good night’s sleep!”
Mia blushed but didn’t object. “As you wish…”
Olivia pretended not to hear.
It seemed like tonight would be tiring.
The 25th City East District had a modern atmosphere, much like an international metropolis in the old world. Alex even spotted many iconic buildings from various cities. It was like a big mix, yet surprisingly harmonious.
Most of the zombies in the East City district had been wiped out, leaving a large space for survivor gathering. This area was relatively safe, requiring only precautions against other survivors. As for zombies, they were almost non-existent.
So, when Alex and his companions entered, they were all surprised. Here, they could see many survivors freely walking the streets. Some shops were even open for business. Although there were still precautions among survivors, being able to witness scenes reminiscent of the old world streets was quite rare.
