Chapter 53: The Setup, Deception?
Alex opened the blueprint, ready to start constructing.
“Survivor, do you want to build the Automatic Defense Armament System?”
[Yes/No]
Without hesitation, Alex clicked the “Yes” button.
Then, the system displayed the materials needed to construct the Automatic Defense Armament System.
[Automatic Defense Armament System]
Automatic Defense Armament System Blueprint: (1/1)
Steel: (3854/1000)
Cement: (4853/1000)
Water: (Infinite/1000)
Crossbow Arrows: (50/20)
9mm Bullets: (Infinite/100)
With sufficient materials, Alex began constructing the Automatic Defense Armament System.
The blueprint shattered, and then a plethora of defensive devices emerged on the foundation of the barrier walls.
At the top of the walls, in addition to the wire mesh, were numerous sharp blades.
Further down, the walls were covered with broken iron pieces, deterring any survivors from attempting to climb.
Under such protection, even if someone’s flesh attached to it with a little force, it would likely be torn off.
Next, miniature gun barrels appeared around the surveillance cameras.
They could directly shoot when enemies were detected.
In the yard, a row of statues facing the gate suddenly appeared.
Concealed within their mouths were crossbow arrows, ready to continuously shoot to suppress incoming invaders.
Most importantly, Alex discovered that this Automatic Defense Armament System could be upgraded as equipment improved.
If there were automatic machine guns or similar weapons in the future, they could be replaced and upgraded.
Alex thought for a moment. In the future, there would be a machine gun next to each surveillance camera, firing wildly in all directions, leaving no blind spots for invaders.
The scene was simply magnificent.
Completing the Automatic Defense Armament System meant that his shelter would be a very safe place in the future.
At least for a short time, there would be no need to worry about the shelter being disturbed by zombies or survivors.
If invaders managed to break through the Automatic Defense Armament System’s defenses, they would face Alex’s unlimited firepower.
Plus Mia’s additional handgun, that would double the fun.

Emma stood dumbfounded, staring at the Automatic Defense Armament System that Alex had built, her expression changing.
“So, this is the golden-level supply you brought back?”
Alex nodded.
“Yeah, what’s the problem?”
Emma said seriously, “This doesn’t seem like something that can be obtained from a golden-level supply crate. It’s as rare as what you would find in a platinum-level supply crate…”
Alex shrugged, indicating he didn’t care.
“Whatever, I’ve already used it. I don’t care what level of supply it is. If it’s as good as you say, then I got lucky.”
Alex linked arms with Mia and walked into the villa.
Emma followed behind them, unable to calm down for a long time, muttering incessantly.
“This is too unfair…”
Mia couldn’t understand and felt a bit puzzled.
“What’s unfair?”
Alex rolled his eyes and explained impatiently, “She’s just jealous. She thinks she sold me the information about this Automatic Defense Armament System too cheaply because it’s so rare.”
“You agree, don’t you, Miss Emma?”
Having her thoughts exposed by Alex made Emma even more upset.
After putting Emma back in her room, Alex and Mia began to enjoy their dinner.
After eating and drinking their fill, they cuddled on the sofa for a while.
Then, Alex went to deliver some food.
Without knocking, he opened the door directly.
Then, Alex was dumbfounded.
In front of him was a blank whiteness.
“Ah!”
Emma shouted in panic.
But it was too late.
Alex entered the room and immediately saw Emma, who had just come out of the bathroom.
Although he quickly averted his gaze, he had already seen what he shouldn’t have.
Emma’s mind went blank as she threw the towel in her hand.
Then she covered herself with her hands and squatted down.
“Get out!”
Realizing his mistake, Alex quickly grabbed the towel and made as if to leave.
But just as he took a step, Emma suddenly called out.
“Wait, wait a minute!”
Alex stopped abruptly, turned around, and looked directly at her.
With an unabashedly admiring gaze.
“What’s the matter?”
Emma was on the verge of biting her tongue.
“Leave the towel…”
Alex glanced at the towel in his hand, shrugged, and tossed it aside.
Then, as if nothing had happened, he walked out.
As long as I’m not embarrassed, others are.
At the agreed time, Alex arrived early with Emma at the designated location.
It was the same forest, the familiar large stump still standing.
Before setting off, Mia had wanted to come along.
But Alex didn’t agree.
Although everything was anticipated to go well, there could always be unexpected events.
This arrangement ensured that even if something went wrong, he could easily retreat without any worries.
Alex and Emma sat on the stump, passing the time with casual chatter.
They waited for half an hour, but there was still no sign of anyone.
“It’s been so long, why haven’t they come yet? The time is already up…”
Emma, too, sat on the tree stump, looking puzzled.
“Yeah, we’ve been waiting for a long time.”
Emma opened the chat window and muttered, “I’m going to ask them now…”
Ding!
Alex suddenly received a message.
“Hello, it’s Jack. We met the other day, remember?”
“I assume you’re already at the agreed location. However, there’s something I want to tell you first, you’ve been tricked by Isaac…”
Reading this message, Alex paused.
What does it mean to be tricked? He vaguely remembered that Jack was the person who argued with Isaac, seemingly the second in command of the team.
Alex glanced at Emma and saw she was still chatting with her father.
So, he quietly replied.
“What do you mean?”
Soon, there was a response from Jack.
“I mean exactly what I said, that old fox Isaac has played you!”
“There weren’t just eight bottles of serum, there were a total of sixteen, eight each for him and me!”
“After you left yesterday, he initially claimed these eight were his own. But when we got back to the camp, he put a knife to my neck and forced me to give four of them.”
“He said it was to preserve strength!”
“I’ll be damned, what does his daughter have to do with me!”
Jack’s tone was angry, and he was swearing.
You could tell he had never been happy with Isaac being the leader!
