Chapter 57: Seeking Help from Alex
Olivia couldn’t type now, so she could only send voice messages.
“Alex, I passed out earlier, but I’m relatively safe for the time being.”
Alex received the message and finally breathed a sigh of relief.
He then asked, “What exactly happened?”
Olivia told him the truth.
“Frank somehow found his old friend, a guy named Henry. This morning at the shelter, Frank officially made a move on me and tried to harm me.”
“I managed to shoot him in the shoulder while he wasn’t paying attention, but that Henry guy is strong, and he quickly subdued me.”
“After that, they both brought me to the Wolf Gang to offer me to their leader. Now I’m locked in a warehouse, and I’m not sure where exactly it is.”
Alex furrowed his brows upon hearing the voice message.
He knew Henry too, from back when he was close to Frank.
It seemed like Henry was the epitome of taking the good and leaving the bad for Frank.
“What about you? How are you holding up?”
Olivia quickly sent another series of voice messages, “I’m okay. I’m wearing a battle suit I collected; it’s impenetrable, so they can’t take it off me for now.”
“But Frank suggested to the Wolf Gang to starve me for a few days and let me take it off myself.”
Alex sneered.
This selfish opportunist shouldn’t even exist in this world.
Olivia continued, “Alex, I have a very unreasonable request. I want you to come and rescue me. I can offer you the battle suit I’m wearing as a reward.”
“Of course, if it’s too dangerous, you don’t have to come. I don’t want to drag you into this.”
This was quite coincidental.
He already had the antiviral serum in hand, and Alex was planning to pay Frank a visit and deal with him.
Alex agreed.
“Alright, send me your coordinates, and I’ll come to rescue you.”
“But let’s be clear, if it’s too dangerous, I’ll turn back, okay?”
Olivia hurriedly replied, “With your assurance, I can rest assured. I’ll send you the coordinates now.”
Alex received the coordinates, furrowing his brows slightly.
He hadn’t expected the distance between the Wolf Gang and his villa area to be so far.
“Olivia, I’m about a hundred kilometers away from you, quite far. Even if I drive at full speed, it’ll take me half a day. You’ll have to rely on yourself during this time, wait for me.”
Olivia sent a voice message.
“Okay, I’ll wait for you. I’m currently locked in a warehouse, not in immediate danger. Take care of yourself.”
Alex closed the chat window, began to organize his combat supplies, and checked the tire pressure of his car.

Mia noticed and asked, “What’s wrong? Is something urgent?”
Alex sighed, “I have an old enemy from university, and I’m going to deal with him now. Also, I’ll be rescuing a classmate.”
“Is it the girl you often provide supplies to?”
Alex nodded, filling the car’s gas tank.
Mia also took out her pistol.
“I’ll go with you. Strength in numbers.”
Alex didn’t agree, explaining, “Olivia has been captured by the Wolf Gang, and that team is currently in the spotlight. I can’t guarantee your safety.”
“But I can go alone. At worst, I can escape with stealth. You stay home and wait for my message.”
Mia pursed her lips.
“Fine, but if things go wrong, you must contact me!”
Alex stroked Mia’s hair, sat in the driver’s seat, and started the car.
In peacetime, a hundred kilometers might only take a little over an hour.
But in this apocalyptic world full of zombies, caution was necessary.
When he arrived at the Wolf Gang’s base, it was already late at night.
Alex didn’t want to alert anyone, so he turned off the car engine several kilometers away and proceeded on foot.
The Wolf Gang’s base had numerous guards, with sentries stationed every ten steps.
Clearly, their scale far exceeded that of Emma’s team.
Alex didn’t know what the leader of the Wolf Gang looked like, so he couldn’t capture the leader first.
Therefore, he chose the most direct approach.
Arson.
Today it was David’s turn to guard the main gate.
His roommate, Tom, was with him.
Both of them were quite tired.
But there was no way around it. They had drawn the short straw for the late-night shift.
David yawned, scratching his butt, and said to Tom, “Hey, there are so many mosquitoes tonight…”
But he didn’t hear Tom’s response.
Turning his head, he saw Tom clutching his neck, unable to make a sound.
Watching Tom’s neck gush blood and seeing him die, David’s eyes widened in horror.
He was about to ring the nearby bronze bell.
But then he felt as if invisible hands were covering his mouth and nose, making it impossible for him to breathe.
Then, his own neck began to feel hot.
His consciousness started to blur…
Alex released the grip on the two dead gate guards, remained invisible, took out two cans of gasoline, and quietly poured them on the ground, spreading it from outside inward.
Inside the Wolf Gang’s dormitory, some people were already asleep, but there were still some restless youngsters who couldn’t sleep.
A few of them were sneaking around with flashlights, flipping through a somewhat worn-out adult manga.
They were deeply engrossed, occasionally whispering in excitement at the explicit scenes.
Just as they were immersed in the arousing scenes of the manga, one of them suddenly said, “Hey, do you guys smell gasoline? It’s really strong…”
Hearing this, the others sniffed.
“It does smell like gasoline… Oh well, it might just be a leak somewhere. Are you still reading or not? If not, go to sleep!”
The person who spoke earlier was impatient.
“Damn it, this manga is mine. Do you guys want to kick me out? Hurry up and make some room!”
The group then continued their intense study session.
Suddenly, one person shouted, “Holy crap! Something’s wrong! Where would we have so much gasoline here? This is bad, something’s happening!!”
Everyone snapped out of their daze and prepared to go out and check.
Boom!
Before they could step out, they heard a loud noise.
It was a grenade!
Immediately after, flames began to engulf the entire base, rapidly spreading.
“Fire! Fire!”
People shouted, waking up the other Wolf Gang members who were sleeping.
Seeing their base engulfed in flames, they didn’t have time to think and fled in panic.
At such a critical juncture where resources were scarce, everyone naturally thought of themselves first. How could they spare precious water resources to put out the fire?
And the instigator of it all, Alex, was using his stealth skill, agilely moving through the chaotic crowd, constantly searching every room.
At that moment, he noticed a bald man with a blind right eye standing on the balcony of a two-story small building in the center of the Wolf Gang’s base, shouting at the fleeing gang members below.
“You bunch of bitches, where do you think you’re going? Put out the fire quickly! What’s the use of water? If we run out, we can always find more. But if we lose the base, where are you going to camp out in the wilderness? Wait to be eaten by zombies! Damn it, put out the fire quickly!”
Many Wolf Gang members, who had been fleeing, actually took out water to put out the fire under the bald man’s furious cursing.
The Wolf.
Alex could probably confirm that this bald man was the leader of the Wolf Gang.
He began to run towards the small building.
