Chapter 89: Selling Water Purifiers
Alex carefully examined the materials required for the production of the water purifier blueprint.
After all, this wasn’t the kind of small household water purifier, but rather the large-scale ones placed in communities.
If there were too many materials needed for production, it would be troublesome.
Fortunately, making the water purifiers didn’t require too many materials, only a certain amount of stainless steel and filters.
As for other materials, the blueprint didn’t specify.
Alex purchased some materials on the trading platform and attempted to manufacture the water purifier.
[Survivors, do you want to use the water purifier blueprint?]
[Yes/No]
[Yes]
[Water Purifier]
Stainless Steel: (120/50)
Filter: (13/1)
After clicking to start production, Alex made two water purifiers.
[Production completed]
Two large water purifiers stood before Alex and the other two.
The stainless steel casing looked very high-tech.
Without much complexity, Alex plugged in the power and poured sewage from the faucet into the water purifier.
The water purifier started working.
After a couple of drips, the mechanical sounds from inside could be heard.
A few minutes later, the red indicator light turned green.
It indicated that the sewage had been purified and was now drinkable.
Alex took a cup and collected a cup of pure, pristine water.
Mia looked at the purified water with some concern and said, “Alex, can we really drink this?”
No one knew if the water purifier could really purify sewage.
This wasn’t the old world.
In a post-apocalyptic world, they couldn’t be sure of what would happen.
Alex licked his lips, feeling a bit thirsty.
“We have to try. Since it’s a gold-level item, there shouldn’t be any problems.”
Then he took a sip of the purified water, swirled it in his mouth, and gulped it down.
“How is it?”

Mia and Olivia were very nervous, afraid that something might happen to Alex.
Alex nodded and smiled, “It’s drinkable. It doesn’t have much taste, but it’s fine for daily use.”
Mia and Olivia breathed a sigh of relief.
With practicality confirmed, they could sell the water purifiers to make money.
Alex recorded a short video.
In the video, Alex approached the water purifier with a cup, collected purified water, and drank it in big gulps.
Then he posted the video on the chat channel.
ID 10086: “Water purifier, can purify wilderness sewage into drinkable purified water. Hurry up and buy it on the trading platform (with attached video).”
ID 854235: “Damn! Is this for real? There’s actually something like a water purifier?”
ID 231534: “Must be fake… How could there be water purifiers?”
ID 967645: “Uh, I checked the trading platform, it’s a gold-level item, should be fine, right? And in the video from 10086, he drank it, even showed half his face while drinking. I think it should be fine.”
ID 866623: “Even if there aren’t any major issues and it can indeed purify sewage, damn, it’s too expensive! Plus, the water purifier needs electricity to operate, where are we going to get so much energy to generate power…”
ID 10086: “Hold on before you start calling it expensive.”
“This thing does come with a hefty price tag, I can’t just operate at a loss and do charity work, I’ve already minimized profits to offer you a top-notch product with great value!”
ID 735423: “And you call this value for money? With thirty S-alloys, you could get so much food and drinking water!”
Alex looked at the price, furrowing his brows slightly.
He didn’t see any issue with it.
It seemed quite reasonable.
Thirty S-alloys in exchange for a large water purifier, no need to purchase drinking water in the future.
It was clearly a one-time investment.
How couldn’t these survivors understand that?
Alex felt a bit frustrated.
ID 983534: “Bro, don’t complain. Survivors like 10086, they have a different definition of value for money than us. They say value for money is the bitterness of the poor and the surprise of the rich, we belong to the former, oooh-oooh…”
ID 962234: “Heartbroken.”
ID 5382344: “So, are you guys buying? (wry face)”
Many survivors expressed willingness but lacked resources.
ID 346754: “I’m from a small team, what’s with buying? We’re struggling just to build an underground bunker, let alone a water purifier worth thirty S-alloys…”
ID 853464: “Solo survivor here, I still have plenty of drinking water in my pocket for a long time, bathing doesn’t seem that important anyway…”
ID 853453: “Damn! Stop talking about it, I can almost smell it through the screen.”
Alex sighed as he looked at the contents of the chat platform.
It seemed unlikely to sell a large number of water purifiers in the short term.
But he was unwilling to lower the price.
In the old world, there were always things known as ‘IQ taxes’.
Like weight loss pills.
There were always people who believed they could lose weight without moving a muscle.
Like diamonds.
Control the supply, attach it to love, and you can inflate the price sky-high.
Many people scoffed at these things, even mocked them.
Something like sheep waiting to be sheared, who would buy into that?
Are there really people willing to be sheep?
But these things were never meant for the common folk.
As long as they gained the approval of the service demographic, they could fill their pockets.
And now, Alex had exactly that plan.
The large water purifiers were expensive, not widely accepted by the masses.
No problem.
As long as capable teams needed them, could afford them, sold a few units, he’d make a fortune.
After all, teams capable of spending thirty S-alloys on a water purifier were most likely large teams with enormous water demands.
As long as their leaders weren’t foolish, they would come to buy sooner or later.
Many people on the chat channel were criticizing Alex’s water purifiers.
ID 10000: “10086, are you treating everyone like sheep to be sheared? Thirty S-alloys, how can you justify that price?”
ID 94525: “Indeed too expensive, thirty S-alloys for water resources, I could get so much drinking water…”
ID 564343: “Huh? Seems like someone bought a water purifier? Who’s so awesome, rich enough to buy a water purifier, I want to cling onto that rich thigh!!”
Alex received his first profit, a direct trade of thirty S-alloys, no other equivalent materials used.
But when he received a private message from the buyer, Alex couldn’t stop smiling.
Private chat window.
ID 12315: “10086, the platinum supply crate isn’t bad, right? And this water purifier, it’s one of the items in it, right? Just you wait for me!”
It was the sheriff, they had become the first sheep
Life sure had a funny way of working out.
