Chapter 97: Destroying the Drone, Declaration of War
In that instant, he thought of many things.
This thing wouldn’t fly over for no reason; it must be someone coming to gather intelligence.
But more importantly, they had exposed their true identities.
Was it the sheriff?
Alex had reasons to suspect so.
So many things had happened before, all related to the Police Station.
Plus, there was the threat from the sheriff in the private messages before.
Alex could even be sure that this was the drone sent by the Police Station.
He waved at the drone and shouted loudly, “Sheriff, long time no see, hope you’re well!”
The drone, which had intended to fly away, stopped.
The sheriff pressed down on 001’s hand, preventing him from controlling the drone to fly away, instructing him to maintain its current position.
Since they had been exposed, there was no need to hide anymore.
Seeing the drone stop in place, Alex became even more certain that it was sent by the Police Station.
And, it could transmit real-time footage?
Otherwise, why would it stop upon hearing his voice?
So, was the sheriff watching him?
Alex chuckled.
He casually picked up a skewer and handed it up into the air.
“Sheriff, would you like some barbecue?”
“Oh, I forgot, you can’t eat.”
“This is the blueprint for the barbecue grill I got in exchange for a large water purifier. Speaking of which, I should thank you, haha!”
The sheriff watched Alex salt the wound with satisfaction, keeping his composure.
Secretly, he gripped the armrest of his chair tightly.
Alex tore a bite of the barbecue, enjoying it.
Then he said, “Sheriff, peeping into people’s homes, isn’t that a bit careless of you?”
“I might overlook it, but if my two companions were bathing or changing clothes, how would you settle that account?”
The sheriff couldn’t reply.
So, Alex continued soliloquizing, “Well, I suppose a few hundred S-alloy credits should compensate for this mental distress, right?”
Although the sheriff couldn’t speak, he still chuckled coldly at these words.
However, what Alex said next infuriated him even more.

“If the S-alloy credits aren’t forthcoming, then, Sheriff, how about using your head to make up for it?”
Alex chuckled, pulling out a handgun and aiming it at the drone.
“Goodbye!”
Alex destroyed the drone, emitting black smoke, falling straight into the courtyard.
Then, like throwing out garbage, it bounced outside the perimeter wall, crashing onto the road in the villa area.
Mia looked worried.
“Alex, what do we do now?”
Alex was also helpless.
Since the true identities of the three had been exposed, there was no way out.
“What can we do, just wait and see…”
Olivia spoke up at this moment.
“Our identities being exposed actually doesn’t have a significant impact. A showdown with the Police Station was inevitable sooner or later. Moreover, only the core members of the Police Station who saw our true faces through the drone know our identities. It’s impossible for everyone there to know.”
Alex felt reassured. “Yeah, Olivia’s right. I was getting a bit flustered without her reminder. Our clash with the Police Station is a matter of life and death. Whether our true identities are exposed or not, it doesn’t matter that much.”
Finishing his thought, Alex stroked his chin. “It seems like the Police Station will come after us soon. We need to prepare ourselves quickly.”
This time, the Police Station would surely throw everything they had at them. Alex couldn’t be sure if the Police Station had any other advanced weapons and equipment.
He couldn’t just abandon the shelter he had worked so hard to build and run away with Mia and Olivia because of fear!
Mia asked, “Alex, what’s your plan then?”
Alex pursed his lips and finally said, “Check the maintenance of the Energy Shield and ensure the automatic defense system’s ammunition supply. Then, we’ll just wait and see how things unfold.”
Olivia sighed. “It seems like that’s our only option.”
Indeed, there were no other strategies.
The three of them didn’t have the mood to continue barbecuing.
They hastily filled their stomachs and cleaned up the barbecue grill and the balcony.
Then, they began arranging and inspecting the defensive devices around the villa.
With the drone destroyed, the people from the Police Station couldn’t see what was happening on Alex’s side anymore.
The footage from earlier didn’t provide much intelligence either. There was no time to look elsewhere.
They could only see 10086 and his two companions enjoying themselves on the villa balcony, chasing and playing around.
The expensive drone crashed for nothing, providing only useless information. It was a waste!
But what comforted them was that they finally saw 10086’s true face.
Although the sheriff already had a rough idea of Alex’s age, he couldn’t help but admire Alex’s appearance when he saw it for real.
To have such maturity at such a young age was quite remarkable, reminiscent of his own youth.
He could even conclude that given enough time to grow, 10086 would definitely stir up the world in this post-apocalyptic era.
Thinking about being able to personally snuff out such a rising star, the sheriff chuckled.
It’s truly exhilarating!
Back when he was a mercenary, he encountered countless troublemakers and geniuses.
Facing odds of one against ten, infiltrating the FBI headquarters’ computers, these were all child’s play.
But in the end, he didn’t see any of their exploits being passed around in mercenary circles.
The reason was simple.
The sheriff took advantage of their vulnerability and tossed them all into the Pacific Ocean.
So, while he could admire them, the sheriff didn’t believe that 10086 would leave his villa alive.
If he packed his bags now and fled into the post-apocalyptic world, he might just manage to eke out a living.
But the sheriff didn’t believe that would happen.
Alex wasn’t the type to fear death.
If he were, he wouldn’t have dared to snatch food from the mouths of the Police Station, Dragon Soar, and the drug cartel all by himself.
It was clear, then, that Alex’s fate would be the same as those so-called prodigies from years ago.
“10086, you’ll soon pay the price for your actions…”
The sheriff extended his finger, tapping lightly on the armrest of his chair.
Cross me, and there’s only one road for you—death!
