Bang!

Mother Bai was pushed to one side while a wolf that was bigger than an ordinary wolf stood in front of her. He was growling at the zombie that had tried to attack Mother Bai.

“Jixuan?” Mother Bai was shocked when she saw her good son turning into a beast. At first she didn’t understand what was going on but then she saw Bai Jixuan turn into a large gorilla. He then picked up the zombie from the ground and slammed it head first into the floor.

The head of the zombie burst open, causing the flesh and the pieces of brain to scatter all over.

“Mom, are you okay?” Bai Zhan, who was trapped in a corner by two zombies, rushed towards his mother.

“I am fine.” Mother Bai stood up with the help of her eldest son and looked at Bai Jixuan, who was now dealing with a bunch of zombies. One second he turned into falcon and the other second he turned into a large beast, almost crushing the zombies into meat patties. “Looks like Jixuan has also awakened.”

Bai Zhan hummed and then said to his mother, “Mom, if you cannot do it, you can stay back; I and Jixuan will deal with these monsters.”

“No, no.” Mother Bai shook her head with a tinge of embarrassment. “I was the one who suggested coming here; I cannot hide behind you two.”

With that, she clutched the butcher knife in her hands and charged at the zombie that was not far from her. As she was in a hurry to gain some skills, Mother Bai didn’t notice the tiny sapling sitting on her shoulder. Its two bud-like leaves swayed in the air as Mother Bai ran.

Mother Bai raised the butcher knife in the air and slammed it on the head of the zombie. Because she had also awakened, her strength was no longer the same, and she could easily deal with the zombie. Just one strong hit with all her strength poured into it and the head of the zombie burst open.

Blood and brains splattered all over the floor and her clothes but Mother Bai didn’t find it disgusting. If anything, she felt a rush of adrenaline.

“Zhan’er! I did it.” Mother Bai turned to look at Bai Zhan and beamed. “I… killed this monster.”

Though she was trembling, Mother Bai seemed to have become even more courageous. At least she didn’t throw up like Bai Jixuan.

“You were great, mom!” said Bai Jixuan as he changed back to his human form and finished wearing his clothes. He looked at his mother and said to her, “Let’s go; we will pick up the supplies.”

After dealing with the zombies, they were able to find a few packets of instant noodles, frozen meat, rice, and vegetables.

Their harvest was not too bad, and the Bai family sighed contentedly. None of them noticed the water puppet that was following behind them vanishing.

“Aunt Bai!” Lei Yan greeted Mother Bai when she saw them arrive at the spot where they had parked their boat.

Mother Bai turned her head and looked at Lei Yan when she heard her voice. Upon seeing the many injuries on her face, she couldn’t help but ask, “Yan’er, are you alright?”

“I am fine.” Lei Yan wiped the blood from her face and grinned happily. “I was able to awaken, Auntie Bai!”

As she finished speaking, she raised her hand in the air. Soon the boat that was tied behind her rose into the air as if it were too light.

“I can control gravity,” she explained when she saw Mother Bai looking at her with confusion in her eyes.

“That’s great,” Mother Bai praised but at the same time she couldn’t help but sigh. It seemed like she was destined to become a burden on her children if only she could have awakened!

“We should go back.” Mother Lei rubbed her arms and looked at the weather that had gotten worse and worse. It was really windy and cold outside; even though there were no signs of snowfall, the weather was colder than it used to be during snowfall.

No one had any objections; after all, they had been hunting for supplies for more than three hours and had found enough supplies to last for a few days. Their group returned to the apartment complex and Fang Qing, who had been waiting for Bai Zhan to return, rushed at the entrance at once.

“Bai Zhan! You shameless, gutless man! You are finally willing to show your face.” The second she came to a stop in front of Bai Zhan, Fang Qing started scolding him. She was used to saying such words to Bai Zhan and no longer feared anything.

“Bah! Who is shameless?” Mother Bai reached out and slapped Fang Qing on the face. In the past, she used to be careful as Fang Qing was the biggest shit stirrer of their village. Every time she tried to teach this woman a lesson, Fang Qing would run to the police station and file a fake report of domestic violence.

Now that the world was coming to an end. Who cared about who?

“If there was a competition of being the most shameless woman, it would be taken by you every time you step on the stage!” Mother Bai scolded. “Don’t you dare scold my son in such a manner. Or else I will beat you every time I see you! I still haven’t asked for an explanation regarding what you did to my grandchildren! Now get lost!”

Fang Qing stared at Mother Bai with a stunned expression. She wanted to say something but dared not; instead, she turned to look at Bai Zhan and said to him, “Husband, forgive me… I didn’t mean it. Its just that my brother’s wound has turned inflamed. Can you help me? At least for the sake of me giving birth to two children for you—help my brother and take him to the hospital.”

Fang Qing had been hiding in the room when Bai Meiyue and Bai Zhan were taking care of the zombies and she saw how easily Bai Zhan was able to handle those monsters.

So how could she not be greedy? Not only did she want Bai Zhan to take her family back but she also wanted him to protect them with his life! After all, he was so powerful, such a thing shouldn’t be difficult for him.
