Chapter 111: Looking for nuclei and supplies for exchange

Qiu Shuang, who was scolded, choked and glared at Bai Meiyue; she rolled her eyes again and again. But after seeing how this woman was able to come to their apartment, she knew that this woman was not simple. She wanted to chase after Bai Meiyue and collect something to eat but then Qiu Shuang thought about the monsters that were lurking outside and stopped.

But she had been hungry for days now and only survived till now by catching fish. However, now she was tired of eating roasted fish and wanted to eat something else. She turned to look at Qiu Li and instructed her sister, “Go and follow that woman. Since she came out, she would certainly try to collect some supplies. Follow her and pick whatever you can and come back.”

Qiu Li turned to look at her sister with a stunned expression.

“What are you looking at? Go, I am famished. Do you want me to starve?” Though Qiu Shuang was a bit embarrassed, when she thought about how hungry she was, she ignored the look that Qiu Li gave her.

A dark glow flashed in Qiu Li’s eyes but she still got to her feet and dragged her tired body to chase after Bai Meiyue.

The residents also had the same plan as Qiu Shuang but when they thought of the man eating monsters outside, they all pursed their lips and stayed inside the house. Instead they all turned to look at Qiu Li; this woman would return alone—if that was the case, then don’t blame them for looking after themselves.

Qiu Li hadn’t even gotten her hands on something good and yet the residents of the building had already started to harbour evil intentions towards her.

Bai Meiyue, of course, noticed the little tail that was following her but she didn’t bother to deal with her. Though Qiu Li had supported Qiu Shuang in her past life, she had also stopped her sister from causing trouble for Bai Meiyue. Not to mention, Qiu Li was the one who shared the information of the organisation with her.

Though Bai Meiyue could not understand why someone like Qiu Li allowed Qiu Shuang to cause so much trouble, she was not someone who would poke her nose in a business that had nothing to do with her. After all, Qiu Li was not a child and a grown woman; if she wanted to let follow Qiu Shuang and become a wandering supernatural being instead of forming a team with someone, who was Bai Meiyue to stop her?

Although Bai Meiyue was lost in her thoughts, she never dropped her guard. She used her essence to protect her son while using the remaining essence to cut the heads of the zombies who pounced on her upon catching the whiff of the human scent.

Bai Meiyue brandished her knife ferociously. One after another, she cut down the zombies, swiftly killed the first wave of zombies, and marched down to the sypermarkt that was not far from the building.

As she headed towards the supermarket, she noticed that Qiu Li, who was following her, was biting her lips tightly to stop herself from screaming. Although her face was as pale as paper, she did not yell out like her sister.

Seeing this, Bai Meiyue was not surprised. No wonder Qiu Li was able to awaken so quickly; her mental strength was too strong.

She didn’t stop her from following, seeing that Qiu Li was smart enough.

Not far from where Bai Meiyue was standing, Bai Feng stopped his boat and looked at the many corpses that were floating in the water. When he left the building, he was worried that Bai Meiyue would run into trouble and wouldn’t be able to escape. As a result, when he rushed out, he saw that the zombies outside the buildings had either been smashed, hacked, or turned into meat patties.

He was disgusted with the sight of the zombies floating in the water with their heads split open and their brains pouring out of the cracks. However, he still suppressed the disgust and followed the trail that was left behind by Bai Meiyue and finally found the boat that was parked outside the mall.

Looking around, Bai Feng realised that several zombies who were lurking outside had been killed and each of them was killed in a brutal way. There were two zombies who were trapped in the phone booth as they banged and knocked on the door but couldn’t step out of the booth.

Bai Feng jumped out of the boat with ease and slowly walked towards the parking lot. He soon found Bai Meiyue, who was standing inside the supermarket talking with a young woman who looked a few years younger than her.

“You can take the first and second floors; I will not fight with you but leave the other floors to me,” Bai Meiyue told the woman. She was gripping the knife that was dripping with the blood of the zombies, a sight that made Qiu Li swallow hard and nod.

Qiu Li knew that she was not strong enough to fight with Bai Meiyue; thus, she agreed without any hesitation. What was more, Bai Meiyue was being kind enough to her by allowing her to freeload.

She had been to this market before; the first floor had groceries and the second had clothes and shoes; it was enough for her.

Bai Meiyue also hoped that Qiu Li was an obedient one and would not follow her to the third floor, because if this woman found out about her secret then she could not blame Bai Meiyue for ending her life. Because the last thing one could trust in this apocalypse was a human heart.

However, just as she was about to head to the third floor, she heard someone call her from behind.

“Yueyue!”

Bai Meiyue cursed when she heard the familiar voice and turned to look behind her. It was just as she expected. Bai Feng came looking for her.
