Chapter 114: No longer a slave

It wasn’t that Bai Feng wasn’t scared but he also knew that this was his reality now. If he didn’t learn how to face these monsters and only relied on hiding and sneaking, he was sure that sooner or later he would lose his life. It was better to recover from this blow faster and stop running blindly.

He adjusted his mental state and then took out the gun from his pockets. He followed Bai Meiyue while clutching the gun in his hands. Sensing someone standing behind her, Bai Meiyue turned around and looked at Bai Feng.

She asked, “Why are you still here?” She showed off her strength because she wanted Bai Feng to leave her alone, but this man was still behind her, making it impossible for her to use her abilities.

“I saw you when you were leaving the building and came after you,” replied Bai Feng. “I was afraid that you didn’t know how dangerous it was outside so I came to protect you.”

After he finished speaking, he added, “Dad and the rest were also worried about you.”

Hearing this, Bai Meiyue curled her lips. She knew very well how worried Bai Qingshi was about her. She still remembered how Bai Qingshi didn’t give up on selling her to some of his connections in exchange for supplies; if she was not lucky enough to awaken at the right time, that man would have pimped her out until all her worth was used up.

“Is that so? Why did he not come to see me then?” Bai Meiyue asked with a sneer. “Is it because he doesn’t dare to look me in the eye after acting as a pimp?”

Of course, Bai Meiyue knew that the Bai family was living with Bai Feng in the same building as her but she didn’t make a move on them because now was not the time. In her past life, it was Bai Xue and Su Hu who formed the connection and sold her son to that association. Back then, they did it out of sheer spite and desire to not see her do well.

And now that they were living a life worse than her, she wondered how long it would take for those two to crack under the pressure. This time around, she was not only going to break their arrogance but also make sure that they would be abandoned by those sponsors who looked out for the Bai family.

Of course, that didn’t mean that she wouldn’t deal with those two for the time being.

As she thought of this, her eyes flashed viciously, and her gaze dropped to the supplies that Bai Feng was carrying on his back.

Seeing the expression on her face, Bai Feng was a bit uncomfortable. He wanted to defend his father but the things that Bai Qingshi did were simply unbelievable and he could not bring himself to say anything. In the end, he only sighed and said,

“He is old and is staying at home.”

He thought that Bai Meiyue would be worried or concerned about their father or their family but she simply sneered and spat on the floor.

“Old? He was quite enthusiastic when he was trying to push me to the bed of a man. Don’t try to justify him; I know that entire family is not a good thing. They are scared out of their minds and don’t dare to go out. They can only rely on you to bring them supplies such that they can live a good life.”

When Bai Feng heard her words, he couldn’t help but frown. He said to her, “I know that you are angry at our parents and Bai Xue but there is no need for you to be so harsh on them, Yueyue. They might have done something wrong but this is not the time for you to act on your emotions. What will you do if you don’t return home? Are you going to stay alone?”

Bai Meiyue didn’t speak; she stared at Bai Feng and then took three steps forward before coming to a stop in front of him. She folded her arms across her chest and stated coldly,

“I am not alone; I have a family who cares about me. You don’t need to protect me; go back and protect the Bai family. That’s all you can do and that’s all you will do till the day you die.”

She was not lying or exaggerating when she said those words. Bai Feng indeed died protecting the Bai family. She would never forget how Bai Xue pushed him forward and he let her. He could have saved himself but he didn’t because he was worried that the Bai family wouldn’t be able to escape.

Thus, he sacrificed his life without thinking twice. And even after that, Bai Xue didn’t feel guilty if anything; she blamed Bai Feng for not taking that step before.

Bai Meiyue didn’t want to talk to such a fool.

With that, she turned around to leave but Bai Feng reached out and held her wrist.

“Yueyue!” Hearing her tone, he couldn’t help but turn furious. He had done nothing wrong to Bai Meiyue. The reason he wanted to take her back was because he was worried that she would not be able to survive alone and nothing else.

In these times, who would rush out of the building to protect someone? And yet he did. Only for her to show such an attitude to him. He cared for her; couldn’t she see that?

However, just as he reached out to touch her wrist, Bai Meiyue caught his hand and then pulled a shoulder throw. Her body was no longer as weak as it was before; she could easily pull off such a simple move.

Bai Feng, who didn’t expect her to do such a thing, felt his world tilt before his back slammed on the ground harshly. He grunted in pain and looked at Bai Meiyue with eyes wide in disbelief.
