Chapter 115: Learning after watching
“Yueyue!” Bai Feng called out to Bai Meiyue, who coldly looked down at him.
She admitted that she was letting her anger and frustration mess up with her head but she was really annoyed with Bai Feng and his ferocious protection of that family.
She knew that Bai Feng was doing this because he truly cared about her but this care of his was extended towards her due to the fact that she was the daughter of the Bai family. He cared for her just because she was a member of the Bai family.
He was like a puppet who had no thoughts of his own and just let those morals and values that were instilled in his head as a child rule him. While she knew that it was difficult for him to break through those norms, Bai Meiyue felt that Bai Feng was a coward as well. One who could see through things but still turned a blind eye to all of it.
“I don’t care if you want to act as the servant of the Bai family, but I am done playing this role, Bai Feng,” she gritted out through her teeth. “I lost my youth and nearly my life in their hands and I believe this is enough. I had given up too much to continue lowering my head and letting those people step on me.”
“You can do it if you like it but I don’t,” she sneered with her voice laced with anger. The grudge that she had carried in her heart for two lifetimes was not something that she could let go and Bai Meiyue was not going to let Bai Feng become an obstacle.
As long as Bai Feng didn’t hurt her or her child, she would not kill this man, who would one day become a powerful supernatural being.
She let go of his wrist and said in a cold voice, “You can give up on the idea that we can live like we used to in the past. I am telling you this today, Bai Feng. There is no way I and the Bai family can ever reconcile!”
After she finished speaking, she ignored the stunned expression on the face of the man and walked away.
Bai Feng, who was insulted and humiliated, was also filled with anger. He was Bai Meiyue’s elder brother and he came here to help her but instead, she looked down at his actions and coldly brushed off his care. He felt as if his pride and ego had been hurt.
He really wanted to turn around and leave without even looking back. When had he even bowed his head in front of others? Bai Meiyue was the first person he had apologised to and even tried his best to flatter her.
Before the end of the world, no one dared to talk to him in that manner. Bai Meiyue was the first and Bai Feng thought he had given her too much face for the girl to say such cold and hurtful words to him.
He got to his feet and wanted to leave but just as he turned around, his gaze fell on the zombie that had jumped off the roof of the supermarket. Bai Feng had long known that these man-eating monsters were not smart.
As long as they could get their hands on their prey, these monsters did not care about anything. Bai Feng turned to look at Bai Meiyue and shouted, “Watch out!”
Seeing that the zombie was about to take a chunk out of Bai Meiyue’s neck, Bai Feng forgot all about what happened just now. He no longer cared about the fact that Bai Meiyue had scolded him bloody and took out his gun to shoot that thing down.
But before he could do that, he saw Bai Meiyue fish a dagger from her bag and hurl it at the centre of the zombie’s head. The head of the monster exploded and he fell to the ground with a loud thump.
“You… where did you learn these skills?” Bai Feng asked. The zombie jumped out of the window out of nowhere; even he didn’t have enough time to react and yet Bai Meiyue had already brought that monster down.
“Don’t know,” Bai Meiyue replied calmly before pulling out the dagger. She turned to look at Bai Feng and said to him, “Don’t use a gun without a silencer; these monsters are really sharp and if they hear the sound of a gun, they would come staggering from all directions. The sound of a gun is too loud and it will be dangerous. Make sure to put a silencer the next time you want to use this gun.”
After she finished speaking, she crouched down and wrenched the zombie nuclei that were sticking inside the head of the zombie.
Bai Feng looked at the egg-sized nuclei in the hands of Bai Meiyue and pushed the discomfort of being insulted to one side. Even though Bai Meiyue didn’t respect him as she used to when she was young, she at least cared about him. At least she was willing to tell him a few things.
“Yueyue, why are you collecting these things?” As he spoke, he took out an electric baton and swung it hard at the head of the zombie that came staggering out of an alley.
Though the electric baton didn’t burst the head of the monster, Bai Feng was not bothered. He pulled the watch off his wrist, taking advantage of the fact that the monster was staggering. He wrapped it around his knuckles and bashed the head of the zombie hard.
The thick, rotten blood coated his fingers, and Bai Feng vomited hard, but he still took out the pomegranate-sized nuclei from the skull of the zombie after pushing aside the mush of brains, bones, and blood.
He looked at the red ruby-like crystal and waited for Bai Meiyue to speak. He was sure that this thing was something useful and important or else Bai Meiyue wouldn’t be collecting it.
