Chapter 120: A daughter needs her mother no matter what!

Bai Feng was still half unconscious and could feel his body getting hotter and hotter. He wanted to ask for water but before he could, he heard Bai Xue say, “We need to throw him out of the house. I heard from the people living downstairs that those who break out into fever are infected with the virus. They will soon transform into those man-eating monsters; we cannot let him turn into one and eat us all.”

As she finished speaking, she didn’t forget about taking several steps away from the man lying on the bed.

When she thought about how Bai Feng would turn into a man-eating monster like the one outside, she felt fear rising in her heart. Thinking about how Bai Feng would eat their flesh if he was not thrown out of the house, Bai Xue covered her mouth and retched heavily.

She was filled with disgust and terror at the sight of the man. If not for the fact that she was not strong enough to throw him out, Bai Xue would have not wasted any more time.

Chu Xia, who was hiding behind Bai Qingshi, shivered and said to her husband, “Qingshi, we should throw him out of the house. What are we going to do if he were to turn into that monster?”

Bai Qingshi was also scared; he did not want such a thing to happen either but now that it had happened, he was terrified of facing the man-eating monster. He turned to look at Su Hu and the two men nodded before dragging Bai Feng out of the house and throwing him outside.

Neither of them expected that Bai Feng could hear everything that they were saying. Though he was unconscious due to the fact that his body was battling the virus, he was able to sense what was going on around him.

Bai Qingshi and the others didn’t know that every single word that they spoke had landed in Bai Feng’s ears.

He wanted to tell them that he was fine but he couldn’t because his body felt heavy and he couldn’t even raise a finger, much less speak.

Thus, he was thrown out in the corridor where the rats were running amok.

“It seems like your family really treats you well.”

He didn’t know how long it had been since he was lying on the floor when he heard a familiar voice.

Bai Feng wanted to open his eyes but his body was too tired. However, just as he gave up on asking for help, he felt someone pull open his mouth and then place something bitter inside his mouth. Before he could sense what it was, the taste was washed off by a gulp of water.

“Whether or not you can survive, it will depend on you.” Bai Meiyue looked down at the man and snorted. She didn’t want to care about Bai Feng but when she thought about the selfishness of the Bai family, she couldn’t help but come out of the house and check up on Bai Feng.

Sure enough, the Bai family did not let her down. They really did what she expected them to do.

She wanted to leave Bai Feng to his devices and let this man die. After all, he deserved it for trusting that family. But then Bai Meiyue recalled the many times Bai Feng had saved her life and gritted her teeth before coming over.

She looked down at the man who was breathing heavily and stated in a cold voice, “Make sure you remember that you owe me your life, Bai Feng. If not for me, you would have died tonight. So, when it comes down to it, you will have to back down and choose me.”

Bai Meiyue was not stupid. She knew that one day Bai Feng would become her greatest hurdle but she wasn’t completely heartless. She carried the grudges as well as the gratitude in her heart. Though Bai Feng was a fool, he treated Bai Cai really well. There were times she could leave her son in Bai Feng’s hands and never find her son crying.

In fact, she was sure that if Bai Feng hadn’t died, then her son wouldn’t have died either. Though a bit stiff, Bai Feng was a good man who knew what could be done and what couldn’t be done.

So, it was better to save the life of this man and make him owe a favour to her. One day, she would take back the life-saving grace that she had shown him.

After she finished speaking, she turned on her feet and walked away. Of course, as a last favour, she cleaned the rats in the corridor before muttering to Bai Feng, “These rats can be eaten as long as you clean them up properly.”

The reason she said those words was because she knew that once Bai Feng woke up, he would be really hungry.

Since there were no more supplies left, he could only rely on these rats.

Bai Meiyue had no idea that one day she would thank the grace that she had shown to Bai Feng.

“You are back?” Mother Bai looked at Bai Meiyue, who went outside and looked up and down at her. She heaved a sigh of relief when she saw that her daughter was alright and then said to her, “Are you hungry? I cooked your favourite stir-fried noodles.”

“Mom, you are the best to me!” The frigid expression on Bai Meiyue’s face melted when she heard her mother’s words. She rushed inside and hugged her mother before saying to her, “Did you also take out the marinated duck eggs?” She asked while sniffing the scent in the air.

“You hungry goblin,” Mother Bai shook her head and then said to her, “You have grown so tall but you are still the same. When you were young, you were just the same.”

While speaking, Mother Bai wiped her eyes. Her Yueyue, her good daughter—no matter how strong she became, no matter how many things she was hiding from her, her daughter still needed her. Without her, Bai Meiyue would even forget about eating a hot meal.

After all, she raised Bai Meiyue into a spoiled princess. If only not for Bai Qingshi!
