Chapter 134: Saving someone
They rushed to the room at the further end of the corridor, where Lei Yan was looking at something at her feet.
Seeing this, Bai Meiyue heaved a sigh of relief. She thought that Lu Yin caught hold of Lei Yan. fortunately, that wasn’t the case.
She walked over and looked down at the woman who was lying next to Lei Yan’s feet. Her clothes were tattered and there was a hideous injury on the side of her stomach.
“Sister Yue, she-she is dying.” Lei Yan turned to look at Bai Meiyue and spoke with reddened eyes. Throughout her life, she had lived like a little princess; Lei Yan had never seen someone die in front of her. At least she had never felt this helpless before.
“I wanted to see what was inside the closet and I pulled it open, and this woman fell out. Now she is pleading with me and I don’t know what to do.”
“Sav–Save me,” the woman groaned weakly; her cloudy eyes lit up when she saw Bai Meiyue and she exclaimed, “Benefactor, it is you.”
Bai Meiyue looked down and turned the torch towards the woman; she carefully recalled the appearance of the woman and tentatively called out, “Tong Huan?”
“He..Hey, it is me..”
Lei Yan was confused when she saw the two of them greeting one another. She turned and asked, “Sister, do you know her?”
“I met with her when I was looking for supplies.”
Tong Huan raised her head slightly and took a good look at Bai Meiyue before sliding up and taking out a ball of rubber from the bag that she was clutching in her hands. She handed the ball to Bai Meiyue and said,
“I–I will return this to you, benefactor.”
Only then did Bai Meiyue realise that Tong Huan was actually returning the inflatable rubbed boat that she had given to her.
“Its a bit broken but if you patch it up, you can still use it,” Tong Huan said to Bai Meiyue. “I have no use for it anymore.” She added with a sad smile.
Though she was pleading with Lei Yan, Tong Huan knew that her chances of survival were not good.
“You can keep it,” Bai Meiyue crouched down and studied her wound carefully. “Let me take a look at your wounds first.”
“There is no point,” Tong Huan sighed. She pulled her clothes and showed her wounds to Bai Meiyue and the rest.
The wound on her abdomen was not simple. It seemed like someone had chopped and then scooped the flesh out; there were countless bite marks around the wound and her ribs could be seen vaguely.
It had also become infected and rotten.
“The day I went back home… I found out someone had broken into my house. They actually killed my parents and my little siblings…”
“I wanted to kill them… but I couldn’t beat those men and in the end, I ran away—with half of my life. It was thanks to this boat that I was able to escape or those people would have…” Tong Huan’s eyes turned misty as she spoke. She was a woman and knew very well what the intentions of those four men who killed her parents were.
She sniffed and continued, “But I was unlucky and ended up attracting a swarm of those mutated rats who attacked me. Even this boat was —chewed off by them.”
She looked at Bai Meiyue with a forced smile and said, “I am sorry, benefactor. I ruined the thing that you lent me.”
“Like I said, don’t worry,” Bai Meiyue frowned as she looked at the wound. It was a tricky wound but she knew that she could deal with it. As long as she exchanged some traditional medicine from Medic Miracle, she could deal with Tong Huan’s wounds.
There was no helping it. Tong Huan reminded her of Shen Zhen and seeing her like this made Bai Meiyue a bit troubled.
Tong Huan didn’t say anything. She simply pulled a few things out of her bag and handed them to Bai Meiyue.
“I–I picked up a little puppy when I was escaping,” Tong Huan pulled the crate that she had hidden under the aisle and pushed it towards Bai Meiyue. “Can you take her with you? I don’t think I can take care of Ciyi anymore.”
Bai Meiyue looked at the little puppy in the crate and her eyes flashed. Of course, she remembered this little pup, as it was she who died trying to save her son.
Bai Meiyue asked the woman lying on the floor, “Are you a veterinary doctor?”
“I was studying to be one…”

This woman, she had to bring her back.
Not only because Tong Huan looked a little like Shen Zhen but also because she had saved Ciyi. Though Bai Meiyue didn’t know if her suspicion was correct or not, she wanted to save Tong Huan even if she was not Shen Zhen’s sister, who was given away by her parents.
Shen Zhen, as the oldest, had no idea that her sisters were sent away one by one. She came to the city when she was sixteen and had been living in the city with her uncle since then. Because the village was far from the city, she hardly ever went back, and every time she went back, her parents would make an excuse for the absence of her little sisters.
After she became a doctor, she couldn’t go back to the village even more. It wasn’t until her parents came to the city with their precious son and occupied her house did Shen Zhen find out that her sisters had been sold away by her parents. The reason they kept her with them was because she started earning at a young age.
If not for this, Shen Zhen wouldn’t have abandoned her parents when she met with them again in the apocalypse.
Bai Meiyue didn’t know if Tong Huan was related to Shen Zhen but she didn’t want to take the risk anymore! She might as well bring her back with her.
