Chapter 135: Cheap Life
She turned to look at Bai Zhan and Bai Jixuan before saying, “Can we take her back home?”

Her two brothers exchanged a look with one another before Bai Zhan turned to look at Bai Meiyue. He said to her, “We can bring her back but she was bitten by mutated rats. Are you sure that you want to bring her with us?” What if the woman turned into a zombie? Though he didn’t say the latter half of the sentence, everyone understood what he was trying to say.

Bai Meiyue pursed her lips and took another look at Tong Huan. If it was a normal rat bite, then all she needed was to find some tetanus and epidemic fever shot. But that was not the case; with these bites, whether or not Tong Huan would be able to survive depended on her own condition.

“Let us bring her back,” Bai Meiyue sighed as she picked up the crate. The puppy inside the little metal cage whimpered when her crate moved. Seeing this, Bai Meiyue paused and threw in some treats that Tong Huan handed her earlier.

Bai Jixuan and Bai Zhan realised that their sister had made up her mind and didn’t say anything. They simply shook their heads and went to help Tong Huan up from the ground.

Though Tong Huan said that she knew that the chances of her survival were really not high, she didn’t want to die. When she heard Bai Meiyue say that she was willing to save her, she heaved a sigh of relief. She was finally saved.

Their group soon returned to the SUV, where Bai Meiyue asked Bai Jixuan to lay Tong Huan at the back of the car. She then turned to look at the building behind her and waited for Yun Chuan and the others to return.

She didn’t have to wait for long as their group returned shortly. They were sporting some injuries but other than that, they were fine.

Mo He was muttering angrily, “These people…they have all gone crazy!”

“What happened?” Bai Meiyue asked when she saw that Mo He was sporting a long gash on his right arm.

“We found some survivors,” sighed Yun Chuan and told Bai Meiyue what happened inside. Just like Tong Huan, a few people were hiding in the farmer’s market but not everyone was as obedient as Tong Huan.

The second they saw Yun Chuan and the others, they charged at them and tried to steal their supplies. It was really troublesome to deal with those people as well as the zombies. If they were not cornered by the zombies, then Mo He wouldn’t have been injured by that woman.

Bai Meiyue nodded as she took out her first aid box and handed it to Wan Guofu. “You can use these supplies to clean and deal with his wounds. There is no need to return it to me.”

She had countless first-aid boxes like these. If she could use one of these boxes to win the favour of this team, Bai Meiyue didn’t mind it.

Yun Chuan was indeed grateful towards Bai Meiyue when he saw her hand over a first aid box, but at the same time, he was a bit ashamed for doubting Bai Meiyue. He scratched his cheek nervously and thanked Bai Meiyue before turning to look at his team members and asking them to deal with their wounds.

Lu Yin watched the scene in front of her coldly. She couldn’t help but feel angry when she thought about how she had come to the hunt every night and worked hard to gain the trust of Lei Yan and her team. And despite all her hard work, her entire plan was ruined by Bai Meiyue!

She looked at the woman and snorted angrily.

“I found a gas station,” said Yang Chunhua. With a lollipop that she had found in the farmer’s market in her mouth, she pointed at the large building that was not far from where they were standing. “We should fill up our tanks; who knows when the gas might run out?”

“Chunhua is right,” Mo He remarked as he shut the back of the SUV close after putting the supplies inside the vehicle. “We should fill our tanks every time we see gas stations; we don’t know when the gas would run out.” If this were before, running out of gas wouldn’t be a big problem, but now that the world was in chaos like this, if they ran out of gas in the middle of the street, they would die for sure.

No one had anything to say against this. Even Lu Yin, who was frowning, stayed quiet. After Yun Chuan and the rest were done dealing with their injuries, everyone got into their car and then drove to the gas station.

However, as soon as they arrived at the gas station, they realised that there was something wrong. The entire building was surrounded by zombies and in the middle stood a group of people who were trying to fend off the zombie crowd.

It seemed like there was only one supernatural being in the entire group with defensive ability as the man was pushed forward by the rest.

“Do something!” the woman who was hiding behind the man shouted when she saw that the zombies were getting closer and closer.

“What do you want me to do?” the man looked back and snapped at the woman harshly. He was the only one fending off the zombies and there was a limit to what he could do.

“Watch out!” Someone behind them screamed and the woman turned to look in front of her. When she saw a zombie pouncing at her, she didn’t even think twice before pushing the man in front of her towards the zombie.

“AH LI!”

“AHHH!”

The woman screamed as she watched the zombie take a bite off Ah Li’s face and pull him down with it.

Seeing the sight in front of her, the woman heaved a sigh of relief and patted her chest. If she hadn’t pushed Ah Li away, then it would be she who would have died.
